If you're a Muzquiz then you and I are related way way back. Two brothers, David Long Muzquiz and his brother Juan Long Muzquiz inherited a ranch called "El Rancho de la Rosita." The town was named after their family name, Muzquiz. Their father was Manuel Long Castellano and their mother was Refugio Muzquiz Muzquiz----I think her parents were first cousins (hence the same two last names).

Juan was a doctor and David an attorney. After the revolution they had to flee Mexico because they backed Pancho Villa. They fled to San Antonio, Tx but returned after about 15 years.

Juan bought out David's share of the ranch and the family lives in the area to this day. David moved to Mexico City; that branch of the family lives in DF and San Antonio.

Any of this sound familiar??

Muzquiz-Garza

Hi,I've recently become addicted to researching my Family background. Saw some postings about the Muzquiz family. My great grandmother was Juana Muzquiz Vda De Garza; born in 1865 in Melchor Muzquiz,Coah.Mex. Her parents were Miguel Muzquiz and Anselma Rodriguez. She had a brother Ramon, and a sister, Guadalupe. She married Don Miguel Garza and eventually came to San Antonio,Texas. I'm trying to establish whether there's a connection to Col.Melchor Muzquiz. I believe Miguel Muzquiz' parents were Felipe Muzquiz and Juana Pena; they would have lived around 1820.
Please contact me with any additional info. Thanks!

I am so glad you posted that information. I have too much more you can use. I am a ggg daughter of General Melchor Eca y Muzquiz Arrieta. You can also find four generations up by typing "herederos de Melchor Muzquiz" you will find several genealogy trees, but, for some reason, the main one cuts excactly at Melchor's row, so, it is missing his wives, sons, and us,etc.. I know he married (or he did not?) a Kikapoo's Grand Chief's daughter, whose name I cannot find yet, that is sad, because she is my ggg mother! One of my mom's sisters says those Kikapoo's are located in Eagle Pass, but she don't give more info. I know also Melchor's names of children, g ch, and gg ch etc. from Joaquina Bezares, but not from my own family, just from my ggfather to me. (your info is correct) You can e-mail me to accuratetranslation1st@yahoo.com

Unfortunately, none of those names are familiar to me. My father came here directly from Mexico with his parents in 1948-1950. Obviously there is a link somewhere, but it's probably back a ways. Good luck in your search!

My father-in-law is Augustine Lopez Muzquiz and he was born in San Antonio, Texas.
His father's name was Augustine Vargas Muzquiz who was born in Texas we think possibly Mexico.(b.05/05/1900-d.05/29/1972)
He had two brothers, and two sisters, one of which I believe was named Eloise (possibly Sara Eloisa).
My father-in-law had a half brother named Joe Muzquiz (born in the 1927 circa).
I hope you can help us.
Sincerely,
John & Rebecca Muzquiz
Hello Marie,
I recently came across your message and I am wondering if we could possibly be related, and although it would be an interesting to encounter distant relatives. My main reason for writing is searching for other Muzquiz who may be able to provide answers to my own questions.
Your message simply stated that your a Muzquiz and from Texas, with relatives from Texas with the same last name.
I am also a Muzquiz who spells the name with the double 'z'
and I am hoping this puts us a little closer on the family tree.
My grandfather, Augustine Muzquiz lived in San Antonio in the 1930's an at least until 1953. I'm not entirely sure if he was born there, but me father Augustine Lopez Muzquiz certainly was. My grandfather (b. May 5,1900-d. May 29,1972)
Also had another son, Joe Muzquiz(b.circa 1927), and I am hoping some of this will sound familiar to you or someof your relatives. I am interested in finding information on my grandfathers parents and siblings. I believe that he had two brothers and two sisters, one possibly named Eloise (or maybe even Sara Eloisa). My grandfather was more comfortable using August. He owned some property in Texas and I believe it was related to growing and/or selling produce.
I am unsure of my great grandfather's name.
One aunt says it was Erasmo, but another says it was possibly Augustine...and I don't know his birthplace nor his birthdate.
If any of this jogs your memory, please contact me at the following: john_muzquiz@yahoo.com
and as a side note, my Uncle Joe was my father's half-brother.
Sincerely,
John Daniel Muzquiz

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find info on my Great-Grand father, Melchor Muzquiz-Finado. I would estimate between 1878 - 1888. Unless you are speaking of General Melchor Muzquiz ... he was born 1790 and died 1844. He is my GGGG-Grandfather. Hope that helps. Let me know if you think there is some link.

Hola :
Saludos.
Ana García-Junco del Pino
