NEWARK: A memorial service for Doug Mye will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, january 6, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church, 732 Hebron Road, Heath, Ohio with Pastor Kristin Santiago presiding.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Mye passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, Ohio; surrounded by friends and family on January 3, 2010.

He was born August 20, 1949 in Buffalo, New York to his late parents, Earl and Mary Jane (Ratajzak) Mye.

Doug is survived by his wife and love of his life of 40 years, Sharon Mye; his daughters, Lori Mye and Lisa (Troy) Coulter; adored grandson, Trevor Mye; brother, John (Sue) Mye; sister, Barbara (Jim) Flaming; aunt and uncle, Jeanette and Richard Rudnik; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Barb Wolf, Dennis and Rose Rowe, Bev and Tom Smith; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kathy and Heidi Mehler.

Doug was a man completely devoted to his family. His favorite vacation spot was the Allegheny Mountains where he enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing cards and playing catch with his grandson. He was an avid gardener, always looking for a new plant to add to his garden.

Doug was a member of Christ Lutheran Church - a man of strong faith and a love for his church family. He was a former baseball coach at North Newark Little League and basketball coach for the YMCA.

Doug attended many Newark City School sporting events. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to, The Million Dollar Dream for Newark City Schools so that no child miss the opportunity to participate in athletics because of their inability to pay.
