Hello,
I just found my Henry Nicholas Myer (Meier) on the 1870 census in OUACHITA Parish LA.
MYER, HENRY, 54 M W HANO Germany TRENTON PO
Myer, Henry 54 M W Cabinet Maker $12,000 Hanover
Myer, Francis 42 F W Keeping house GA
Hestibch, Henry 54 m w at school Ohio

Living next to Henry Myer was John Myer of Hanover Germany Cabinet maker 6000 3000 Mary 37 (Germany?), Benard 3 LA; Augusta 1, LA; Frank 3, La; Ann 5, LA

Hnery Meier was in Troup Co GA in 1849 after migrating from Germany. He married Francis Thompson 26 April 1849 and then vanished, until I found him yesterday after looking for 30 years. I thought he had a brother in Troup county named John. Henry lived next to John Myer (Meier) in OUACHITA Parish LA in 1870.

Then Henry vanished again. I'd appreciate any suggestions where he may have went or where Francis or Henry Nicholas Myer (Meier) is buried.
jcnreno@charter.net

I would be interested in some of your old photos. I have some as well. Grandpa was in the military and stationed at Fort Des Moines until WW1. He was in the calvary and my mom grew up at Fort Des Moines. Her brother William Wesley Myer and Henry Milton Myer were also in the calvary. Mom used to talk about how they would stand beside their horses on the parade grounds during morning revely. She did love living out there. We scattered her ashes at the Fort after she passed. If you'd like to remain in contact please feel free to email me at ia_grl@msn.com anytime. I'm always looking for family members. And I can share some of the photos I have as well. Although my cousin John has the best ones of grandpa and grandma.

His sons were Henry Milton Myer, William Wesley Myer, Charles Clifford Myer and another daughter Virginia Rosemond Myer-Prim. All of Henry's sons and daughters have passed away. One from Emphysema, one from illness due to the war, two from Cancer and one from anorexia. There are still some living grand children and great grand children.

I would very much like to have copies of the information you have regarding my families background and heritage. If you would be so kind as to contact me I would appreciate it. Thanks, Linda Sanders

Hi Lucy-
Yes, I can work with an excel. Thank you so much for offering your information. I look forward to looking it over. The photo I have labed Lusk Myer is definitely Lucius Field Myer. I just went back and looked at a second photo of the same person with nearly illegible writing on the back. I can make out very faintly L..ci..s Myer. I guess that Dode Myer is either Ideala or Ideria Myer. With two names like that its no wonder one of them went by Dode.

Do you know if anyone else has photos of these people. I would love to compare. I'd also love to see a photo of Henry and Eliza. I'm particually interested in Eliza since she would be my gg grandmother.

Thanks again for the excel file and please let me know if you want any of these photos. I can send them as .jpg files.

Cheers,
Mark Overton

WOW! That's great. Thanks for the quick reply. If you'd like a scan of this photo, I'd be happy to send it to you. Leona, Leola & Roscoe are certainly cute kids. They look like they are all between the ages of about 3 to 6 or there abouts. I guess that means the photo is about 1917.

Do you know who Dode Myer was? I'm guessing that Dode was probably a nickname. Do you have a list of Henry and Eliza's kids? I think one of the photos that I have is Dode Myer with her mother, Eliza, but the writing on the back is nearly gone as it was written in pencil (it appears to be late 1800's). Do you know anything about Eliza's first husband or any more info about her or her parents? In the 1925 census for my great grandmother (Eunice Taylor Overton) her father is listed as Henry Taylor (b. in OH) and her mother as Eliza Shert (b. OH). But her half-siblings list their mother as Eliza McCulla or McCulley?

You're also welcome to send me email directly to me at genealogy@saxquest.com.

Thanks,
Mark Overton

Hi guys-
I would be interested in talking to you about this family. I have several old photos (turn of the century Cabinet photos from Indianolo, IA and Hillsboro, OH, and a set of real old tin type photos) that may be from this Myer family. My great grandmother was Eunice Taylor Overton (b. 1860) who was half-sister to several Myer bros and sisters (they shared a mother). I think her father died when she was young and her mother remarried. According to census records her mother's name was Eliza (born in OH). The identified photos are:

1. Thomas & Luella Myer & daughter Edna (Indianola, IA)
2. Leona & Leota & Rosco Myer - children of Allice Myer (sister-in-law of Eunice and wife of Frank Myer)
3. Dode Myer - 1/2 sister of Eunice Taylor Overton - L.A. Schooley - Indianola, IA
4. Euince Taylor & …lis… (maybe Lusk, difficult to read) Myer - 1/2 brother & sister - C.A. Mallom Portrait & Photo Artist - Hillsboro, OH
5. seated - Lusk Myer (1/2 brother of Eunice)
6. From Judith and Francis Edingfield - to Grandma Myer
7. Uncion (maybe Uncle) Tom (?) - BC Collier - Wenatchee, Wash
8. Gay Yocour (hard to read) & George Moore - For Grandma Taylor - Pautzke - Ellensburg, Wash
9. Una - Zarley's Art Studio - Indianola, IA

I found Frank & Alice Myer and Thomas & Luella Myer in the 1925 census records where it shows their parents as Henry and Eliza McCulley. So, I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same family. Any more help piecing this togther would be greatly appreciated. I'm also happy to share photos.

A Myer Mystery in New York, Wisconsin, and Minnesota

What happened to Jacob P. Meyer’s first wife, three daughters, and mother-in-law? What was Mary H. Meyer--his second wife’s--maiden name?

1.	Jacob P. Meyer was born in New York State in Sept 1831. Spellings from the records which I know to be attached to him include: Myer, Myers, Meyer, Meyers.
2.	In 1850 he was living with his birth family in Eden, Erie Co. New York. Jacob J Myer and Roseanna M Myer were his parents--both were born in France; he had several brothers and sisters: Magdalena (1834), Frederik (1838), John (1840), Louisa (1845), August G (1847).
3.	The US Census for 1860 lists Jacob Meyer (born 1832 in NY) as living in Waukesha Wisconsin with wife Mary Meyer (born 1836 in New York), their daughters Mary (born about 1856 in New York), Louisa (born about 1858 in New York), and Margaret (born in WI in 1859). Also living with them was a Mary H. Streeter (or Strater), born in 1804 in Prussia (I assume this was Jacob's mother-in-law).
4.	Jacob had a son, John, in July of 1861 Wisconsin. After this point the five women mentioned in item #4 disappear.
5.	Jacob P. Meyer was married to Mary H. [unknown maiden name] Meyer in 1874. She had been born in Vermont in January of 1848, so she was too young to be John’s mother.
6.	Jacob P. and Mary H. Meyer lived together in Wisconsin at least in 1875-76, when their sons William and Edmund were born
7.	They had moved their family to Butternut Valley, Blue Earth Co, MN by 1880, when Mary E. B. Meyer (or Eva Mary) was born. Several other children followed: Ida L.H. Meyer [married name: Reakes] in 1886, Roy Daniel Meyer in 1888, and Frederick J. Meyer in 1891. John appears with them on the 1880 federal census, but he doesn't appear on the 1885 Minnesota Census. [After this point John and his wife Dena and their children are consistently listed together in the censuses as living on their farm in Butternut Valley.]
8.	Jacob P. and Mary H. Meyer were both still alive in 1895, and still lived in Butternut Valley, Blue Earth Co, MN .
9.	In 1900 Jacob P. and Mary H. Meyer were living in Hancock Village (Swan Lake Twp), Stevens Co., MN with their four youngest children.
10.	The 1910 census has Mary H. Meyer and her son Fred Meyer living in Lake George, Hubbard County, MN. Jacob P. Meyer is not with them at this point.
Hello!
I am a great-great grandson of Jacob Peter Meyer. Mary Eva Meyer Kahlstorf was my great-grandmother. Her mother was Mary Henriette Knights Meyer--J.P. Meyer's second wife. I would be most interested in exchanging information with you, especially if you have pictures of the Meyers. I have been looking everywhere for information regarding the Meyers in Butternut Valley, MN and also in Waukesha, Wisconsin and Eden, New York. You say you currently own the Meyer homestead in Butternut Valley. Are you a descendent of John and Dena Meyer?

I'm very glad to hear from you!
Del
Looking for any information about Sarah Myer, who is mentioned in my great grandfather, David Bower daily Journal, Sunday, May 2, 1920. Sarah Myer probably was a member of the Church of the Brethren and lived in or around Flora, Indiana, USA. You can view the Journal at < http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~pitzer/DavidBowerJo... >. Please e-mail me with any information. Thank you in advance for any information you might have.

I'm a distant relative of Martha (Graham) Davis, b 1912 in IN, & Connelly Graham, b 1917 in IN, a daughter & a son of Poole & Adah (Myer) Graham (all 4 enumerated in the 1930 census of Decatur Co., IN). I think Martha & Connelly are both still living (if so, in their 90's now). I'll tell them about the photo if I make contact with them. Thanks for keeping it safe.

Roger Connelly

Catherina Umbenhauer Myer is buried in Payne Cemetery, located between Chenoa & Pontiac in Livingston County, Illinois. At some point the name got changed to "Umphenour" but these are the same folks. It is possible that Abraham & Catharina are buried there as well, but I am not sure.

Wow - You might try checking in Bernville, PA where a number of Umbenhauers are buried next to the old church. Apparently the Umbenhauers settled that area of what is now Berks County.
I don't have any photos that go back that far, but it was so nice to hear from you! (a distant cuz!) Unfortunately I don't have anything on Veronica either. Sorry.

Hello,
I am descended from Charity Umbenhauer Livingston. She was one of the daughters of Abraham and Catharina Umbenhauer and a sister to Catharina Myer. I was surprised to find the photos you posted. Thank you. I haven't been able to find any photos or portraits of Abraham and Catharina or any of the children so far. Do you know where Abraham and Catharina are buried? I haven't been able to find much on their daughter Veronica who married John Minnich. Have you found any info about her?

I will check out Berks County. I have been planning to take a trip there.....just don't know when yet.

Tim

I didn't realize that some of Eli and Catharina's children were there also. I will have to make a trip back to Illinois. Thanks again.

Tim

Going through my grandparents papers I found a picture of 4 children doing an advertisment for "Lactated Food". On the back of the card it list the children and parents. One of the children belonged to a L. C. Meyers. Address on the card is Berlin, Ohio. Picture is dated January 30, 1888.

Not sure if this is part of your family or not but thought that if it was I could send you a copy of this picture.

Chris-TX
