My name is Chanel Reid.
I found an old thread on Ancestry.com regarding your ancestors: Thomas Butler Myhand and Elva Nelson Calloway.
My great, great grandfather might have lived on the farm of Thomas Butler and Elva Calloway in 1860. I found my Great, Great Grandfather, Alfred Myhand living in Uchee, Russell , Alabama in 1880 on Ancestry.com. This is 20 years earlier when the Slave Schedules list Thomas Butler Myhand in 1860 in Russell , Alabama as a slave holder. This is our family last name Myhand.
I have a few questions for you. I would be so grateful if you could help me out. It has always been known on my Father side of the family that our family name was Calloway before it was Myhand.
A. Do you know if Ms. Elva Calloway had slaves in her possession before she married Thomas Butler Myhand? I am trying to find out where my Great, Great Grandfather Alfred parents were located to. The records indicate that both mother and father were from Georgia . They estimate my Great Great Grandfather Alfred was born around 1840.
B. Would you happen to know the plantation name that Mr. Thomas Butler Myhand resided on? I am assuming it was in Uchee, Russell , Alabama . I was just loved to know.
C. What date did both Thomas Butler Myhand and Elva Calloway pass and where?
If you could help me with any of these questions, it would be a huge help.
