Narciso Surname

I have become interested in researching my grandfather's ancestry. His name was John Narciso or Giovanni Narciso. He came from a small town outside of Naples called San Giovanni Incarico. I am happy to find others with the same surname from the same area. I believe he came to America via Ellis Island and then went to Salemanca, New York, then to Hyde Park, Boston, where he had relatives. He ended up in Westerly, Rhode Island. Any further information on Narciso would be appreciated.

Narciso name

I am an Italian-American "Narciso" . My grandfather (Luca Narciso) left Maddelonna Italy ( outside of Naples) in the late 1800's and settled in Newark New Jersey , later moving to Brooklyn New York were my father and myself were born.

As far as I remember, my grandfather had a brother named Francesco (Frank) who lived in Newark but left his wife and family and was last known living in Montreal Canada in the 1930's, never to be heard of again. The strange thing in the Montreal connection is that I myself moved from New York to Montreal 21 years ago....but haven't found any relatives here. Maybe your grandfather and mine were cousins since Benevento is near my grandfathers home town, which I visited several years back. In Maddaloni there is a church with stained glass windows and frescos painted by my great grandfather, Pasquale Narciso...so u see the name really is spelled NARCISO but pronounce NARCHEZZO in Italian. It has since been americanized to the current prononciation.

If u have more info on the family or the name, keep in touch.

Frank Narciso
ieie50@hotmail.com

I am trying to trace my ancestors. They came to America
in the late 1800s or early 1900. I know my grandfathers
given name was Anthony and was from Benavento, Italy. That
is outside Naples.Any info. would be a great help on any Narciso,(Narcciso,
Narcisso) name as it may have been altered to sound more American.
Please contact me at cwest@cswnet.com Thanks in advance Crystal J Narciso
