Re: Nicinsky name changed in america

My wife's maden name is Naschinski. It seems to be and uncommon name. Her Father, Gunther, came from Stolp, in east Prussia. He passed away 20 years ago, is survived by his sister, Charlotte, and four daughters (all born in Germany, 3 now in US). Searcing historical records, I find a number of (records of) Naschinski(s) in that part of Europe, dating back several centuries.
-Ray

Johann Naschinski, born 21 August 1858 in Kunchengut, Osterode Kreis, Ostpreussen. He married Marie Rethkowski. They had the following children: Gustave, Emil, Marie (married Jakob Wilhelm Augustin), Emma (married name Waschkowski), Wilhelm, Martha, Elfrieda, Amelia Charlott, Louise, and Adina Anna. By the early 1900s, the family had emigrated to Gelsenkirchen and Bochum. The family emigrated to Frank, Alberta, Canada in 1911 and then to Springfield, Illinois, USA in 1912. I'd like to hear from anyone, anywhere who has connections to the surname Naschinski.

Emma Naschinski Waschkowski

Emma Naschinski was born about 1887 in Kunchengut, Kreis Osterode, East Prussia, a daughter of Johann Naschinski and Marie Rettkowski. Around 1900 the family relocated to the mining areas of Gelsenkirchen and Bochum. In 1904, Emma's father emigrated to the United States and then to Frank, Alberta, Canada. In 1911 Emma's brother Wilhelm joined Johann in Canada. Emma's mother and sisters followed to Canada in 1912, and the family group migrated down to Springfield, Illinois. In 1923, Emma's sister, Marie Naschinski Augustine followed the family to the US. Emma was the only family member who remained in Germany.

Emma was married to Gustav Waschkowski. It is believed that their children were named Willie, Hans, and Marie. There may also have been a girl named Martha. We believe that Marie married a man from Holland. Nothing else is known about Emma's children, except that her son Willie corresponded with the family in the USA.

Emma Naschinski Waschkowski died 14 Jul 1951 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. I would like to exchange photos and family information with any of Emma's descendants. I am a descendant of Wilhelm Naschinski. Thanks,
Susan Monaghan

Old family letters from Emma's son Willi used the spelling Waschkowski. However, a photo of Emma's tombstone indicates the name may have been spelled Waschkowsky.
