WEST BRANCH, Iowa - Mark W. Nash, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness.
The Revs. Ruth Blayer and Steve Rachke will officiate. Burial will be at Pee Dee Cemetery, east of Springdale.
Mr. Nash was born Aug. 6, 1923, in rural Cedar County, the son of Mark and Ruth Worrall Nash Sr. He married Donna J. Gaul on Nov. 28, 1947, in Nashua.
He farmed in the Springdale area for more than 55 years. He was a member of Springdale United Methodist Church and regularly attended Parkview Evangelical Free Church, Iowa City. He was the Iowa Township Trustee for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a self taught musician who played the organ, among other instruments and also included dancing as one of his favorite pastimes. He liked to play cards, especially the game of bridge. He also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Nash and wife Sherry of Sioux City, Steve Nash and wife Deb and Curt Nash and wife Sharon, all of West Branch, and Craig Nash and wife Ann of Atalissa; a daughter, Rene Lindberg and husband John of Iowa City; a sister, Marjory Mayhew of West Branch; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie, Andy, Jamie, Lindsay, Nick, Nate, Logan, Amanda, Jenna, Matthew, Marlena, Michael and Abby; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a grandson, Reese
