BOARDMAN, Ohio – Former New Castle, Pa. resident, Rose G. Ascione, 89, of Crystal Drive, passed away the evening of May 1, 2011, at the Greenbriar Quality Care and Rehabilitation Center in Boardman.
Born on Sept. 17, 1921, in New Castle, Pennsylvania Rose was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary Grace Conti Natale.
She married Emil D. Ascione, on Aug. 7, 1943 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2001.
She was a former member of St. Vitus Church in New Castle. Rose was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman, Ohio where she also belonged to its Over 55 Club. Rose was a loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother and was a special friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by two children, Loraine Scarazzo and husband Norman of Boardman and Joseph Ascione and wife Jacqueline, also of Boardman; four grandchildren, Lianna Capretta and husband Chad, Norman D. Scarazzo, Erin Rae Ascione and Joseph A. Ascione and wife Christie; six great-grandchildren, Mary Capretta, Rocco Capretta, Jacob Capretta, Max Ascione, Mia Ascione and Francesca Ascione.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by five brothers, Guy Natale, Daniel Natale, Alex Natale, John Natale and Ernie Natale; and two sisters, Mary Augustine and Minnie Colao.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. for St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place at Parkside Cemetery.
