I did the Y-Chromosome 46 test but as I understand that test will only tell about the paternal line. It seems that this could narrow the lines.

I do not have much information about my in-laws. I know who my father in law was and his dad & mom's names. No dates of birth or anything else when we started. I was able to find some info on the Social Security Death Index. I have found more info on www.findagrave.com

My Name is Harry L. Nay. I have been a Nay Family researcher for about 40 years. I was stumbling around the Internet and found this posting,concerning your Grandmother, Anna Ulrich. A quick check of my database reveals the following:

Charles Elihu Nay was born June 26, 1862, in Marion County, (West) Virginia. He was a son of Alfred Erwin Nay and Mariah Parrish. He married Anna Ulrich about 1887, probably in Marion County. My record shows Charles and Anna had a child, Lela Evelyn. She was born about 1888 in Wheeling, West Virginia. Lela married (-) Hughes at an unknown date and place. She had at least two children, Wallace and Louis. The record also shows Lela married a second time to William Williamson.

I do not have additional information concerning Lela’s children. I have however nailed down our ancestry back to the dawn of time, so to speak.

Does anyone have any information about Johanna (or Anna) Ulrich Nay? My great grandmother married a Nay in WV and they had a daughter, named Leila Nay. Somehow, they ended up in Louisiana, but I don't know how.

Sarah Ann married Enoch Jones on 17 Feb. 1880, and divorced him before 1880.

The book is everything that Harry said it is.... a very useful tool for Nay researchers. I am also a Nay descendant through Joseph & Samuel, Jr. (sons of Jacob & gr. son of Johan, the immigrant), Joseph's son Reuben, and through Samuel's daughter, Mary Polly ....confusing because of cousins marrying. Anyway, Reuben & Mary Polly (Nay) Nay's daughter, Martha was my great, great grandmother. If anyone is from the line of John William Admire & Martha Nay, please contact me.

Hello! My name is Harry Nay, the author of the latest book on the Nay Family. The book is as Nareen Lake mentioned. She did not mention, however, there are 240 photos and documents, and numerous historical notes. The index lists about 16,000 names, from about 3,000 surnames. The time period covered is 1415 to 2003. It is hard bound and weighs 5 pounds.
It is truly a beautiful book, of course I'm prejudiced.

I saw you message on the Nay family tree. Paul Franklin Nay was my father. He was borned in Traverse City on July 6, 1908 Michigan. He died in Santa Monica, Calif., on Nov. 8, 1979. He retired from the Air Force, in 1964, as a Colonel. He was married to my mother E. Patricia Hosier (Nay) on 12/03/1933. She died on 7/6/1945 in Dayton, Ohio. Dad was stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB, at the time. I have one sibling, a sister, Mrs Paulette Hicks (Nay), who lived in Franklinton, NC.

My Grandfather was Frank or Franklin Delbert Nay, borned 9/06/1874 in Traverse City, Mi. He died on 3/16/1944 of brain cancer. He Married Pearl Rose Fisher on 6/11/1899.

My Great Grandfather was Frederick Marshall Nay, borned on 7/20/1847. He died on 04/04/1940 in Alhambra, Ca. Buried in Fremont, Michigan. He married Harriet A. Smithers on 10/15/1868. She died on 6/29/1917.

I have been trying to find information for several years now and always come up with blanks. Maybe you can fill in the missing pieces.

Adeline I have born 4/4/1812 in Jefferson Co., Indiana d 12/27/1851 buried at Lick Branch Baptist Cemetery in Jefferson Co. she married 12/29/1831 in Jefferson Co. to John Gore b 1808 in Pennsylvania and died 8/1843 in Indiana
They were the parents of 6 children: William H b 10/10/1832 in Jefferson Co., d 11/20/1906 in Keokuk Co., Iowa; Nancy Ann b 1836; Bennett b 1838 in Jefferson Co., d 1/22/1862 in Greenville, Missouri; James b 1839 in Jefferson Co., died 5/29/1863 Battle of Stoney River; Samuel b 4/4/1840 Jefferson Co., died 1/4/1911 and Amanda F b 1844 died 9/28/1870 in Keokuk, Iowa

I have Adeline as the daughter of Bennett Nay and Elizabeth Pemberton.

I don't have all my sources listed, so it would be difficult for me to tell you exactly where I got any one tidbit of information so you'll want to check this out for yourself.

To all who research the Nay Families

The first thing you should know about the surname Nay, is there are two family groups with that surname in the USA. The immigrant from Germany lived in West Virginia. The Nays that you find migrating west from New Hampshire are from Ireland orginally, and their surname was McNee. About three generations from the immigrant in 1711 or soon after, some of the families changed their surname to Nay. Probably because of the surge of Potatoe Famine Irish in Ireland, which caused many English in America to hate the Irish influx. I believe that Harry's book is probably about the WVA German families. The recent book on the McNee/Nay families has been published in 2004, I think, and has many pictures, documents and stories of the families. The McNee/Nay families are still in NH and many joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved with the pioneers across the states into MI, MO, and Utah. E-mail me if you are interested in knowing more about the NH/UT families and I will try to connect you with those that have the book to sell. I have a CD but it would take many pages to e-mail and print, as it is about 535 pages long.

calvin nays parents were armistead and elizabeth lindsey nay. they lived in harrison co wv. he had 2 brothers and he had 8 kids by his first wife. he then married olive shinn harbert. i hope this helps you

I am researching Anna Nay Wallace, my great-grandmother. She's proving to be quite a puzzle. She came from Germany when she was two. She was born around 1872. Her parents died from some sort of flu epidemic and she was "adopted" by a french couple. She was married five or six times and lied about her age constantly. Supposedly, her real name is Johanna Von Ulrich. She had two daughters. First, Lelia Nay. Then 19 years later, Marie Wallace. Lelia had two sons, Wallace and Louis Hughes. Marie had one daughter, June Rousseau; and one son, Donald Campora. I can't find any documents on Anna Nay. Anyone out there heard of someone like this or looking for someone like this?

I can see that your post is old, so I'm taking a chance that you're still interested. My great-grandmother was Anna Nay (I don't think this is her maiden name). Hi,
My husband is kin to the Nay/Noh family that came over from Germany. I would love to help you. You probably know that it is best to start with what you have and work backward. What do you know about Marie Wallace? Was that her maiden name? Do you know what year she was born and what state she lived in? Do you have any information at all on Leila - like about what year she was born or what state she had lived in?
Most of my husband's family came straight from Germany to Neb. Of course, there are lots of other people in the tree and they went to many other states.

Hi. I am looking for a Billy or Lora Nay that may be inbetween the ages of 60-70 years old at this time. I believe my grandmother took care of them for years on Guam way back in the early 1900s. Thank you.
