Elisa, I believe the "original" family name depended on how the ship steward wrote it down. It changed depending on if your ancestor came across on a German, or English, or French, or Italian liner. I think that Nayfa, Nayfe, Naife, Naifeh and Nayphe are all one family from Jdedeit, Marjayoun, Lebanon. Also, I could be wrong, but I believe that your great-grandfather was Elias Adeeb Nayfa and your great-great grandfather was Adeeb Nayfa. Also, your father's aunts and uncles included: Nell, Amelia, Freddie, Mitchell, Louise, James and Frank. of couse, all the boys had the middle name of Elias. - Mitch
