nazario family from Naguabo

hello. I am looking for info about the Nazario's in Naguabo before 1940. My father is Martin. His mother was Engracia cruz Nazario and his father was Martin nazario/navarrete. There are many many siblings and they were all born in the Naguabo area but most moved to NY around the 1960s. I do not know what subdivisions or anything like that. His mother was born in 1917. Any information is greatly appreciated!

My mom told me of my dad. But I'm looking for the background roots down my family geneology. You see I know very little of my family on both sides, and of where they come from. My father's name is Felipe Nazario or "Nasario". I have distant family members in Guerrero, Mexico-Apipilulco. My father passed away before my birth, and I know nothing of them on his side. Please contact me if you have ANY information.

Hello aloera7, My father had a cusin "Ray" in New York and my father's name is Pedro R Nazario who was born in Cain Alto, San German, Puerto Rico however my father moved to New York when he was about 10 or 11 with his mother who was part of a large migration of mainly women who left the Island in search of work and headed to New York this was around the early 1950's perhaps even the mid to late 40's.
In San German Puerto Rico there was at one time a very large Nazario population and they were NOT closely related, when I visited Cain Alto ( a mountainous area in San German,) in which my family still grows Coffee, which was one of the fruits they harvested on their land to support them-selves through out the 19th. century. A great source of information is a Catholic church there in San German named San German de Auxerre, which is the second oldest church on the Island and one of the most Beautiful Churches in the "Western World", if you call or write the staff at the church is very helpful with any information. I noticed you wrote your Post in Spanish, where are you from? I think I may have some information that may be usefull to you if indeed our Father's are related, so if you could perhaps find out your grandfathers full name ,date of birth thats a great start. my direct email address is ancientnurse@live.com if you find out that information drop me an email directly and we'll compare notes, names and dates and who knows maybe we can help each other out in our quests. hope to hear back from you soon, and it's OK to write to me in Spanish I just don't write spanish very well but I read it OK.

I was born in Ponce, PR. My father's name was Santos Nazario Cruz and my mother was Maria Saez Nazario. My paternal grandmother was Francisca Nazario (don't know the maiden name) and I believe my paternal grandfather was Jose Nazario (don't know his mother's last name). My brothers and sisters are: Antipa, Pedro Juan (Johnnie), Rosa, Guillermo (Willie), Carmelo (Carlos), Luis and myself. When we were small, we lived in Los Muros de la Cantera, Ponce, Puerto Rico, before coming to New York in the late 50's. I have a lot of cousins in Newark, New Jersey, but I don't know them very well. I would like to get to know more of my family and perhaps someday have a big family reunion. We are a very large family, but very distant from each other. I now reside in Cape Coral, Florida. Please let me know if we are related.

Hi John
I am in the same boat as you so far all I know is that a lot of families in early 1900's separated, because of imigration, familes feud for those reasons you stated some families claimed they came from "well to do" families in Spain,France or Italy mine claimed they were Spanish,German mix so we had the tall blue eyes ones & the olive skin ones ,then like most families in the caribbean we became mix with all the races in the island, this is what little I know from families about the Nazario part of my family
Fidelina Nazario [ Figueroa,Del Toro,Cancel] yeah lots of families name to research LOL she was my mother paternal grandmother was born in San German,PR around 1840 or later time frame she had family living in central part of town and also in hoconuco bajo, but some of her family hail also from Cabo Rojo,Sabana Grande & mayaguez later they moved to Ponce and the US lots of then settled in Brooklyn and Ohio, but of course John this took a lot of diging
Because once families moved lots of them did not stay in touch, because as you can imagine life in those times was difficult enough remember the big change for our ancestors going from Spanish to a US system of government a lot of birth records were lost,so we have to rely on families oral history while we dig for proof I believe she had brothers & sisters the name Ramon,Agustin & Francisco rings a bell also Marcial plenty more, but the family do not remember everything, they said she married Estanislao Paradis no record of when they said he hailed from Cataluna ,Spain from German,French ancestry so a big mix there they had many children including my maternal grandfather Narciso Estanislao Paradis y Nazario, but they said he used the name Jose Paradis & Jose Nazario to honor what the family believes was maybe his mother father or grandfather I have a list of name that we believe were his brother but so far I dont have a conection here are the names
Roman,Agustin,Federico,Jacobo,Luis,Felipe,Rogelio,Victor I know that the last 3 had the name Paradis y Nazario for sure I found them in the 1910 census living with relatives I also found a Ana Nazario vda[widow] De Paradis Born in 1870 time frame, maybe another Nazario married to a Paradis but that is so far what I have still in the middle of search my granpa moved to the Dominican Republic and married my grandmother in 1921 they had 13 children I guess he must have giving some information to his older kids because they recieved their US citizenship, because of him and left for the US lost contact lots of then have passed on out of many John there is only 2 brothers left & the 3 younger sisters that do not have that much family information, one funny ending John what ever stories my grandfather told his older kids is was good enough that one of his kids before passing added the name Nazario to his to honor his paternal grandmother so I hope I can complete this story, because she most have been somebody really special
I wish you the best of luck with your search I hope next year my mother can joined me on a trip to San German,PR I will continue to post what ever I find in the future all the best
A lost cousin
Francia

Hello my name is John D Nazario and I also Proudly carry my Grandmothers last name Sh was Nereida Ayala Nazario Born and raised in Cain Alto San German and some of our family still lives there, this is what I know about the family that she related to me directly her mother's name was Agetha and while I can't remember her father's name I do remeber her discription of him being a strong dark skinned man with blue eyes, she had three sisters named as follows Leonore, Carmen, and another sister who left home very early on and migrated to tne Cont. United States but I can't remember her name but to my Grandmother's hartbreak never to hear from her again she was thought to have headed for California or Texas and a younger brother who's name was Salvador. My Grandfather was Pasqual Rivera also from San German, my Father's name is Pedro Rivera Nazario unfortunately the USA Gov.didn't respect our tradition of using both our parents surname's so when he joinesd the U.S. Air Force they chopped his name and used only his first and last name,so in honor of my Grandmother who had to leave her Island in search of work to New York leaving her children behind then later saving the money to bring them to the states as well when my Grandfather joined the US Air Force after having lost one of the children to a childnood illness by then. My Grandmothr had 7 children respectively Pedro,Fernando,Auria,"Monchito" who passed away as a child,Carmen,Franklyn and Emilio.
The story goes as my Grandmother told it to me was that her family the Nazarios were a working class family ( when I visited my family the Nazarios in Cain Alto San German they lived modestly and while they owened a nice piece of the " Campo " they lived down in an "Arroyo " it was a climb down to the house and a "Treck " back up, they grew Coffee and toasted it themselves in a setup underneath the house,it was amazing, and my Grandfathers family were as she put it "Majas " or claimed to be of pure "Spanish Blood " and usually would visit family in Spain every few years so his family didn't aprove of my Grandmothr's family so as a result I dont know very much about his side of the family. While I was in San German I did attemped to visit the only church there in town however it was not open to the public due to construction and referbishing of it. I believe it is one of the oldest churches on the Island. if anyone knows of my family since some believe that all the Nazarios on the Island are connected please contact me if you like, I would be very greatful and I hope this small amount of my families background can be of use to somone els please let me know

I took your # down would love to chat with you some day, first need to sort through all the stuff that I have found so I can ask good questions I can said that the more I read the more I love our family history until 1910 they seen to have been a close family, but migration from the island change the way families stay in touch so some of the history starts to get not lost but a little forgotten so hoping to bring some lost families together again all the best
francia

I am currently researching on a woman named Lorenza Nazario-Pietri from Puerto Rico. I have not heard of any one else named with her EXACT surname but you. Will you tell me more about your family history and if you have any relation to this woman? She was born possibly abt mid to late 1800's

Nazario
