My grandmother, Dorothy Delora Nealy never knew her father. He left the family before she was born in Carthage, Missouri in 1907. Her mother was Mary "Anna" Hood. I had always heard her father referred to as William or Willie. My grandmother's death certificate lists him as "George" Nealy. Her sister Juanita "Nita" May Nealy Dodwell has him listed on her death certificate as Will. Her brother, Manfred has him listed as unknown and her mother is listed as the widow of "James" Nealy. Dorothy married Carl Swarens in 1924. Anna died in 1960, but have no clues about Mr. Nealy. Little was ever said about him, but he was said to have had family in Webb City, Jasper, Missouri and it was speculated that he had other families of his own. At my grandmother's auction after her death, a gentleman introduced himself to my father as a Nealy cousin and said "Uncle Willie" had died in complete poverty in either the state of Washington or Oregon. Does anyone know anything of this man or his family?
