I know that this thread is a little old but I am looking to get in contact with you regarding your Patrick Nee. I am doing research on Martin Nee who ended up living in Canada. I have info to share and I am looking for a connection. All I know is that his father's name was Thomas and he was from the Clifden area of Ireland. Anything you can provide will help!

My Grandfather had two cousins Mary and Tessie AJoyce from New York City, They had come from Ireland. Also Martin Nee,is a familiar name,Theresa Gavin just passed away in Ireland Co Galway Westport. My Grandfather Michael Nee was born in Co Galway Ireland 1892, I am not sure who his parents were but I think Bridget (Biddy) was his mothers name. His dad's name might of been John, he came to the US in the early 1900's and changed his name to Needham. He had two cousins, in New York City. Mary and Tessie Joyce, both from Ireland. I think they raised Mike (my grandfather) not sure why. Theresa Gavin just passed away in Westport Co Galway Ireland, She was related toMy grandfather. Any information would be appreciated. I have a Barbara Nee married to Patrick Connolly about 1860 in Galway Ireland. Son Patrick Connolly came to USA in 1885 and married Maggie McCarthy . They lived in Irwin But the Nee's settled in Turtle Creek, Pa. Nee Funeral homes.
I have just heard of the island off Roundstone, Galway, Ireland called Inishnee where the Nee's came from. Do you know anything about this?

Wow - I just stumbled upon your reply by accident, and I'm glad I did! I would appreciate any help in tracking down my elusive Irish ancestors, haha. I have a little bit, but of course am always looking to fill in holes. Family lore has it that at least part of my Gannon and Nee families stayed in Ireland - I would LOVE to be able to go visit them one day soon!

I saw your posting on Ancestry.com. I have a Catherine and Bridget Nee in family Coen/Cummins family tree. One of these sisters married Patrick (Patch) Coen from Ardrahan, Co. Galway, Ireland. The Nee's were from Seehan, Co. Galway which I believe is in the Gort area. Patrick was born in the 1830's. Do any of these folks match your research? Thank you, Theresa

My grandfather was Dudley Nee from Rosmuc in Co. Galway. Rosmuc is very near Maam Cross. The Nee Clan is in Rosmuc and Cashel in Co. Galway.

I think they are my Nee family. My great grandmother was Katherine Mortimer. Her sister Maimie (Mary) ended up in Boston with no children. Her Sister Nora ended up in Gloversville, NY with two sons. It was my understanding that Bridget & Margaret were institutionalized in Ireland by a cousin who moved into their house. I am not sure what happened to the son Michael. They had an uncle Patrick Nee that my great grandmother stayed with when she came to Boston in 1929. Does any of this ring any bells for you?

Katherine Nee Mortimer's daughter Katherine Ann is my Great Grandmother. She married Gerald (Jerimiah) Quish in the nineteen thirties in Boston. Aunt Nora and Uncle Norman both passed away quite a few years ago. Maimie died in the late sixties. Katherine died in 1988. The others never left

Looking for information on a Dudley Nee, who resided in Ireland--probably Co Galway--married to a Bridget Kane. They had at least one daughter, Bridget Nee, circa 1914. She married Patrick O'Brien (born c. 1912), and lived in Derrough, Maam Cross, Co Galway, Ireland. Bridget (Nee) O'Brien is my grandmother, and I have almost no information on her side of our family.

How certain are you thay your Thomas Nee & Mary Ridge emigrated to Boston in 1873?

The reason I ask is that it is possible I may have another of their Irish born children. What I have is the 19 Jan 1875 death in Kylesalia of a 9 month old Honor Nee. The death was registered by her mother Mary Nee.

I have recently been doing some studies of the Nees in Kylesalia, and have found no other family having a mother Mary who would be having children in 1874.

I don't know if this information is of any use to you, but you might want to consider looking at the US census information for Atlantis, MA (I'm from Massachusetts myself, but I have to admit I have no idea where the town of Atlantic might be). The reason I suggest this is I have the following information from the US passenger arrival information:

1) 1928 - Patrick Nee of Rosmuc, son of Thomas, returned to the US at New York enroute his home in Atlantic, MA with his wife Nora and son Joseph.

2) 1925 - Stephen Nee of Rosmuc, son of Thomas Nee & Barbara Conroy, arrived Boston enroute Atlantic, MA to join his brother Patrick Nee.

3) 1925 - Mary Conroy of Turloughbeg, Rosmuc, and daughter of Thomas Conroy & Mary Nee arrived Boston enroute Atlantic, MA to join her aunt Anne Nee.

4) 1926 - Coleman Conroy of Rosmuc, son of Thomas Conroy, arrived Boston, MA enroute Atlantic, MA to join his sister Mary Conroy. This manifest showed Coleman to be 19 years of age.

That is all I have. Perhaps you will find it useful in your search for Coleman Nee.

I have a "Katherine Nee" who married George Mortimer as part of my family tree. I list the daughters names as Mary, Nora, Katherine, Margret & Bridget. There is also a son Michael.

Katherine was the daughter of Patrick Nee and Bridget Wallace. Unfortunately, I don't have dates of birth or death. I am a grandson of Katherines sister (Bridget). Bridget emigrated to upstate NY from Connemara. The timing seems reasonable as my father was born in 1917.

My records show that Katherine had 7 siblings (3 brothers /4 sisters)

I also think we are talking about the same family although I'm confused with the Nora you discuss. Katherine Nee Mortimer had five children of which one was named Nora. That Nora married Donald Hayes. (They had 2 children Norman & John). Nora & Donald live(d) in Gloversville, NY. I do not know if they are still living, but,I visited them as a child. I'm originally from Johnstown, NY & my last name is Kane. (Keane in Ireland). The other Nora Nee was the sister of Katherine Nee Mortimer. She married James Harold & had six children.

john,my grandmothers name was bridget as well she was from rosmuc,galway. i remember the way to determine some of the familys they used the first name of husband and the same of father...IE;bridget nee (pat,col) as in patrick and coleman.my father was coleman as well and we were raised just south of boston,ma. i now reside in fla. but my 7 siblings live on the south shore of boston and my ma & dad are living in me. and fla.

Sorry this note is coming to you so many years after you posted it, but I was on researching my grandmother Mary Nee from Rosmuc and I found not only a fellow Nee ancestor, but one from Massachusetts. My grandmother married John Walsh and settled in South Boston. I know that she was born in Ireland in July of 1898 and came over around 1918 to 1920. Perhaps he came to Boston first and his wife and children followed after he had a job and place for them all to live. I know that my great grandfather did this and it was a couple of years before his wife and children arrived in this country from Greece.

I believe my friend may have fould the information on a census record and in that case, perhaps the year could have been incorrect as census records are not too reliable for dates, only the names of family members.

I started my search in Boston, Massachusetts. Found the marriage record of Thomas Nee and Mary Ridge 1870 in Ireland.
As near as I can figure Thomas Nee was born Jan 1845 possably in Galway, Ireland. In one of the census records I found that Thomas Nee was a watchman. His marriage record states his father was John Nee and mother was Bridget Joyce. Mary Ridge was the daughter of James Ridge and Barbara Conneely. Thomas died in Boston in 27 Sept 1908 Vol 11 Pg 131. They had the following children:
John Nee b. 15 Oct 1872 in Ireland
James Nee b. 11 Aug 1879 in Boston MA
Michael Thomas Nee b. 10 Nov 1881/82 in Boston, MA
Abbie Nee b. 30 Aug 1884 in Boston, MA
Patrick Nee b. 21 Dec 1886 in Boston, MA
Mary G. Nee b. Dec 1889 Boston, MA
Coleman Nee b. Apr 1890 in Boston, MA

Thomas Nee had a brother named John Nee. Both were born in Galway, Ireland and both were found in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1900 they were both living on Bolton Street in Boston, both families in one house together.

I am 90 precent sure the year is pretty correct. A lady in the Boston area went to the records building and has given me some research information because I can not get to Boston. Her information that she has given to me has been accurate to the point that I would trust her research.

She told me and aside from seeing the documents my self...I am pretty sure it is correct.

It's a long shot, however I can check with my grandmother about her father's family. Her maiden name was Nee and the name Coleman is a family tradition you might say. My great grandfather was named Coleman Nee (born before the turn of the century), my great uncle was also named Coleman (or Coley as he was known) (born in the 1920's) and it's also my dad's middle name. My grandmother's family was from the Boston area.
