Dear Kilrudden

I'lve just come across your posting on a random google search. My grandmother was Dorothy Maureen Francomb (nee Neely). She was a Neely from Glencull. Her father was the landowner according to information I have, and we have something of a rudimentary family tree of the Neelys of Glencull going back to the 17th century. She had (I think, I can check) nine siblings including a sister Sally who emigrated with her to South Africa in the 1930's. Do get in touch for any more information or communications. I'd be happy to correspond.

regards, Gareth Beresford-Jones

Also descended from Fulton Neely. In 1850 in Summit County Ohio. His son, William, my great-great-grandfather. He lived in Ohio and married Elizabeth Painter and moved to LaSalle County, Illinois. Is your Matilda married to a Lockwood? My information has the name for the father, Robert Fulton Neely married to Mary McCoart. This may be a second marriage for Mary. Have been trying for years to determine the father of Robert/Fulton. Can reply to me at woodside@wi.net

I have a William Neely in my tree born 1844 in Mitchelstown County Cork Ireland. He married about three times. Once to a Margaret Kirk and another to Margaret Hawley. Hawley was born in 1842 Tipperary Ireland and gave birth to 4 children, William 1873, Mary Josephine 1882, Margaret 1887 and Catherine Maria 1875 (my great, great grandmother. I have much more information on this side of the tree but also got stuck finding information on William's parents.

I appreciate the reply, but alas, the primary John Neely I am looking for was born in Ohio and born ca, 1820. There were several John Neelys to come through Mobile, Alabama, however, I can't connect any of them to mine. Some of the spellings have been :Neely Neeley, Niely, Nealy. If you discover anything else my email is stearman2003@yahoo.com

I did have some Neelys that I did connect in Florida in the Late 1800s. Some of those, Jeff and Eugene, went to St. Stanislaus School in Bay St. Louis, MS around 1900. Then they are found in New Orleans with someone I guess is their Aunt (Daffron).

The John I am looking for has a wife named Francis whose father was born in Italy. They are in Mobile, Alabama in 1850 and then again in 1880. But I cannot find them anywhere in 1860 or 1870. I am assuming that maybe the census page they are on is too illegible to determine that their name is Neely and is possibly listed in some other way that I have not been able to figure out. Write me if you have any ideas

I am trying to find out if he is MY John Neely who was a butcher in the Southern Market of Mobile. I don't know when I'll get back to the courthouse to get a copy of the marrage certificate. But can you tell me about your John Neely? that is if you are still doing this stuff.
I have an obituary for Captain Abraham Neely who died Sunday, February 24, 1822 at age 77 (would have made him born in 1744). It was printed in the newspaper "People's Friend" which was printed in Little Falls, Herkimer County starting in September of 1821. The obit does not contain a lot of personal information, but does say that "the deceased was a native of Montgomery, Orange County......He removed to his late residence when this country was newly settled and reared a numerous and amiable family."

In case this is your Abraham, you might want to look further in Orange County.

My name is Ashant Neely-Vigil. My father,Bobby Joe Neely, was one of 5 children born in 1943 to Robert & Elsie May Neely in Chicago, although I believe they met in a cotton field in Miss. Robert became a well-known Preacher in Chicago known as "the Healing Hand", and died in 196? of cancer. He was the founding member, & manager of a well-known gospel group called the Tennesse Harmonizers,& also started The Highway Travelers who performed with Mahailia Jackson, & others. My dad moved to CA in the late 60's, & I'm currently working on an autobi. for my dad which will detail the musical beginnings of our very talented family. If I can be of anymore assistance to you, feel free to contact me @ ashantivigil@comcast.net
Also, check out my dad's music videos to see if there's any family likeness on YOUTUBE (type in Bobby Joe Neely). He's the Black guy in the red suit doing all the work.

God bless you, & may the Lord reveal to us our heart's desires.

Sally Neely was born January, 1877 and her parents were Henry and Lucinda Westbrook of West Point, MS. Thomas Neely was born April, 1871 and his parents were Thomas and Lurry Neely of Starkville, MS. Thomas and Sally were married in 1897 in West Point, MS. They had a total of 9 children. There children were Henry Neely (March 1894), Emma Dee Neely (June 1896), Moses Neely (December 1898), Jimmy Neely (February 1900), Ardell Neely(1906), Robert Neely(1904), Walter Neely (1909), Jerry Neely (1908) Willie Maude Neely, and Fred Neely. I know that Sally died prior to the 1930 census but was listed on the 1920 census. Thomas Neely died after 1935 but before 1945.

Also I am looking for information on a Henry Neely. He was the son of Thomas and Sally Neely. And he was born March 1894 in West Point, MS. Last census report that I was able to find that listed Henry Neely on was the 1920 census. He still lived at home with his parents during this time. I think he may have been a victim of a race crime. I am not sure, but I have not found any information for him after 1920. And from what I heard from family is that "they never found his body" and that some of his siblings left and vowed never to return to West Point after "what happen to there oldest brother"

If you have any information or any leads on the people listed above please contact me at shauntay@sallyneelydescendants.info

Ira Neely + Nelson = Veta Crystal Neely

Searching for information regarding Ira Neely (Penn. 1866-1935) in relation to his first wife. I've found her last name was Nelson. Guessing she was born around 1870 or so. They had only one daughter from what I can find, Veta Crystal Neely (Canada 1891-1975). She was my great grandmother.

Veta married Fred Sandwisch and had one child, Nancy Sandwisch.

Ira later married a Jennie Baker. I can find info on them in census reports, but am not having any luck finding info on his first wife and Veta's mother, Nelson. Not too much luck on information on Veta Crystal Neely-Sandwisch-Salnave either.

Looking for any personal information someone may have.
Thomas Neely born in Scotland ca. 1758

Trying to trace bach one line in the fanily on my mothers side. It seems that Thomas Neely immigrated from Scotland to the U.S. in time to be in the Revolution. When I look thru the Scottish OPR database no spelling os Neely happens to bo found. What I have so far has been from other trees where all the info matches though. He was born in 'On Board' Scotland, checked and can't find that city or county in Scotland. He was born, supposedly on October 25, 1758. He married Martha Robertson Johnson / Johnston. If this sounds familiar to anyone would like to hear about it.

Bob

Marriage of Mr. John McCrummer to Miss Bettie Neely

Appears in The Terrell Star, 24 December 1882, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas

Married

Near Millwood, in Collin County, Texas, December 20, 1882, Mr. John McCrummer and Miss Bettie Neely.

After then solemn vows had been spoken, low and earnestly by the blushing bride – clear and distinctly by the handsome groom they were pronounced “man and wife.”

John was congratulated that he had secured as goddess of his household, one so fair and accomplished; his bride was congratulated because John is one of Collin’s best boys; the community must be congratulated because John will “settle down” and make one of its most useful citizens.

Mr. John Stinson, brother-in-law to the bride, gave the happy couple an elegant supper at his residence. A large and pleasant party of friends of the family gathered to witness the marriage and partake of the feast.

The river of delightful conversation flowed smoothly on, with little streams of rippling laughter pouring their sparkling wavelets in until 12 o’clock, when the guests dispersed with smiles of pleasure illumining every face and all feeling that they had never passed an evening more pleasantly.
David Neely/Neeley SR born: 1763

Readers digest condensed version: David Neely/ Neeley SR born: 1763 Virginia married to Maragaret Hancock and dying at an old age in Scott County, VA
Has anyone ever found good documentation that David's father was in fact Robert Neely born: abt. 1743 and dying in Maury Co. TN?
I recently saw a document that looks like a will for Robert in Tenn. While suspected son, William is mentioned...NO David.
Does anyone out there have info leading to the conclusion that Robert IS David's father? Or why at a fairly advanced age he should travel to Tenn?
Thanks for your time, Stacey

ROBERT NEELY born: ca. 1743 Virginia

I was wondering if ANYONE can guide me through the thought process which leads other researchers to believe that ROBERT NEELY married to SUSANNAH/ANN GRIFFITH is the father of one DAVID NEELY Sr. born: 1763 (who lived in Rye Cove, Scott Co. Virginia, battle of Kings Mountain, married to Margaret Hancock, etc, etc)
I have looked at Roy Neely's work, LDS files, separated the various counties in Virginia and searched through available documents & census records for Russell, Fairfax, Scott, Augusta...etc to no avail.
While I can PLACE a Robert Neely geographically...I cannot find anything to document, "prove" or even make an educated guess as to his children.
THIS Robert Neely shows up in Maury Co. TN records...but I have not been able to locate much on his suspected children.
I KNOW what the "standard" is or if you will, standing "tradition" on this man's descendants... I've seen other people's family group sheets...and I understand that sometimes, when you get back into the 1700's and available documents that you have to try and make a guess based on an elimination process of likely candidates for paternity based on age etc...sometimes if you get lucky, you can follow families forward through the years and gain additional information by "back-dooring" a child or grandchild of the "candidate"...I've had zilch for luck.
What am I missing?
1)IS there a will for ROBERT NEELY I havent yet found/seen that outlines children/heirs?
2) Anyone ever seen a biographical reference to a suspected child or grandchild of Robert Neely?
3) How are other researchers arriving at the conclusion that DAVID NEELY born: 1763 Virginia died Scott Co's parents ARE ROBERT NEELY & SUSANNAH/ANN GRIFFITH?
Anyone kind enough to reply with a friendly shove in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and happy hunting!
