Classification: Query
Surnames: Neff, Naef, Rummerer, Muller, Walther
Specifically looking for info on
Valentin Neff (b 1784), Martin Neff (b. 1786), Jacques/Jacob Neff (b 1821), and Edward Neff (b. 1864), but info on any is most appreciated!!!!

According to 1836 Alsace census:
Wentzenbach, Bas-Rin, Alsace
Dorfgass 50

Valentin Neff, 52, cooper ("tonnelier")& innkeeper
Maria Anna Muller, 43
Martin, 19
Jacques/Jacob, 17
Michel, 1
Joseph, 14
Magdalena/Madeleine, 21
Francis/Francois, 7
Rosine Fricker, 23, servant

And in the nearby town of Soultz-sous-Forets...
Grande Rue 74
Martin Neff, 50, cooper
Elisabeth Walther/Walter, 49
George, 28, 39th Reg. de Ligne
Joseph, 26, 7th Reg. de Cuirassier
Elisabeth, 23
Louis, 16
Antoine, 14
Frederick, 12
Magdalena, 8

I believe Martin & Valentin could be brothers....

Valentin's son Jacques is my g-g-g-grandfather. He was b. in 1821 in Bas-Rhin and married Rosine Rummerer/Kummerer. We have come up dry with info on her.

They had a son, Edward Naef b. 1864 in Soultz. He immigrated to NY, arriving possibly 1884. In 1885 he married Catherine Spang.

They had 2 children:
Gertrude Naef in 1889
Edward Peter Naef in 1890

Edward Naef Sr. died 22 Mar 1891 in NYC.

Any info, especially on lines further back, greatly appreciated!!!
