CROWN POINT, N.Y. — Stanley J. Nels, 77, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at his home on the White Church Road in Crown Point.
He was born in Crown Point on Jan. 29, 1924, the son of John and Katherine (Kate) Nels.
Stanley is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Debbie Nels of Oklahoma; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Mike Ashline of Port Henry and his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Mike McBride of Ticonderoga; his six grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Miranda, Whitney, Katie and Shawn; his brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin and Dolores Nels of Syracuse; his sister and brother-in- law, Mary (Nels) and Charles Mazurowski of Crown Point; his sister Anna (Nels) Wojewodzic of Port Henry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a infant daughter, Catherine; along with four brothers, Frank Nels, John Nels, Josep Nels and Walter Nels.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Tom Clark and his son of Mineville for giving them another year with Stanley by saving his life at the farmhouse fire on Oct. 21, 2000.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Port Henry.
Memorial donations in Stanley's memory may be made to the AE Philps Fire and Rescue, Crown Point, NY 12928
