Hi Peter

Sorry for the long wait with a reply.

Since I posted that message, I came in contact with another person who was following the Nepean-Hutchison surname. I have now info on some of the Hutchison's back to 1799. I found that Hutchison married into Hutchison. The wife is from Scotland but I don't know where the husband is from.
It is making life interesting though.

I had followed the Nepean's back as far as I can. I think Anna Nepean's gg grandparents are Henry Nepean and Frances Dodge.

What line of Nepean's are you descended from? do you think you might be able to help me more with the Nepean's?

look forward to hearing from you.

KYLIE

Anna Adelinne Nepean daughter of Charles Wedekind Nepean and Anna nee Becher married William F A F Hutchinson who was a Col in the Indian Army. He died in Kent England 28 May 1868. They had a son William G F N Hutchinson who died in Australia in 1928. Anna re-married in 1871 to Henry Lavallin Puxley also a Col in the Indian Army.
I know little of the Hutchinson family, I'm researching the Nepeans.

Thanks for your note. Jackie Collier of Brighton England ( her grandfather was Evan Nepean from a different line) is trying to do research on the Nepean family. As you can imagine it is difficult with so many names the same. There are very few Nepeans in Canada anymore but in the States there appears to be a fair number. I believe they are from the same line as my husband's Nepean family.

His eldest daughter is my mother.

All the artifacts concerning Sir Evan in the Nepean Museum in Ontario (photographs of paintings, bible, etc) were donated by his daughters Susan, Judith and Gillian.

Hi,
In my famiIy I have a great aunt named Catherine Mabel Teatro (Tetreau) who married Gerald Arthur Nepean on October 30, 1917 in Toronto, Ontario. Gerald Arthur was the son of Reginald Nepean and Trefina Rogers. Olga Nepean was a witness at the wedding. Olga lived at 206 RIverdale Avenue, Toronto at the time of the wedding. These names seem to match some of your Nepean's. I have very little verbal history about this family.
Does anyone know about the children of Mabel and Gerald? Would love to know more about them and their history. I have the Tetreau(Teatro) family line and history back to 1600's, but for some reason, my family lost contact with this Nepean family. Any help would be appreciated.

donna Teatro

Dear Donna, My grandmother Estelle Nepean married William Primrose, but she died in 1918, ;leaving 4 children. She was the eldest daughter of Reginald Nepean and Trephina Rogers, the sister of Gerald Arthur Nepean. The children were named Alginald Archibald Primrose, Reginald, who died as an infant, Arthur and Mona. My father is Alginald Primrose, who died at 89 yearsd old in 1998. I understand that the father of Reginald was named Thomas Nepean. He was a lawyer at the old bailey in London, England. Somehow, we are related to Sir Evan Nepean from Cornwall, England.

Dear Donna, Olga Nepean was also named Dolly. She was the youngest sister of Gerald Arthur Nepaen. She married Mr. Portman, who was the vice-president of Imperial Tobacco Co; they lived on Balsam Ave, in Islington, Toronto, Ontario. No children. I visited them when I was a little girl in 1950. She died at age 88 <about>, 1981. She left a lot of money which was divided up amongst the remaining family members, because she didn`t leave a will. Where do you live? I live in N.Y. city and was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Bev. Just based on the ages if your grandma is 91 your grandfather Reginald (son of Arthur) would be 96 or so I think we are talking the same people. Without having dates and middle names it makes it difficult. Your great grandfather Arthur would be 127 - he was born in 1874 (he wouldhave been 31 when his son Reginald was born). Gary's grandfather Reginald Nanspean Nepean would be 133 so that puts Arthur, your great grandfather and Reginald Nanspean Nepean in the same generation. I'm only using math to prove my thinking
Unfortunately I do not have a lot of info on Arthur or his children Reginald( Jack) Velma, Vesta, Arthur. Again using math if we know the first Arthur was born in 1874, if he was 21 when his son Arthur was born ( born approx 1895) and he had a son Reginald ( your grandfather( when he was 21) born approx 1916, that would make him 85. Was he younger than your grandmother? When was your grandfather really born? Was your grandfather's nick name Jack.Hope you can understand where I am coming from.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse the issue.

Hello Everyone!

Sounds like each of us have bits and pieces and was wondering if any of you would be interested in collaborating to fit all the pieces together. Just a thought. I know I can only go so far as some of you, by putting all the legs together maybe it will help us all.

Cheers, Bev

Colleen,
Thanks, another piece of the history.
Have you been to the Ellis Island site? Reginald Nepean travelled to England and returned on March 7, 1920 on the Baltic. He was fifty years old. Check it out- there are other Nepeans in the database.
I will keep you posted if I have any other info to add.
Live in Montreal.

Colleen,
Thanks so much for the history of the Nepeans. With your help and the help of Donna Baker, I am starting to fill in missing family history. My father remembers Arthur(Sonny) working in the scrap metal business and thinks the name of the company was Frankel Bros. in Toronto on Islington Ave. He has no memory of Reginald and unfortunately I do not have family photos to share with you.
There is a museum in Nepean, Ontario which has a bible owned by Sir Evan Nepean. Apparently it has six generations of marriage, death, and birth notations. If you search Nepean Museum on google.com, you will find the site and a photo of the bible. Maybe the curateur Dan Hoffman would provide you with the details. There may be a clue to the relation between the families.
donna

Donna, yes and no on the confusion. I'm in the Vesta family. Vesta and Reginald were siblings and Mary was my great-grandmother. Funny, because I have been having a difficult time with the Nepean name in locating anyone. Vesta played honky-tonk piano and lived in Alaska for awhile, she has pasted on for some time now. Where are you located? Apparently, not in the States by your message. Hope this is of some help Cheers, Bev

Arthur and Reginald nepean came to Canada together. Reginald stayed in Canada and Arthur went to Idaho with his wife. They had 4 kids Jack Arthur Vesta and Velma. After that I don't know. Arthur and Reginald had sisters and brothers Evan Nanspean, Algernon, Olga, Ethel,Mary. Their father's name was Thomas who was a lawyer at the Old Bailey in London. This family is very difficult to follow - In days gone by they seemed to use only 3 names Thomas, Nicholas,Evan there was the odd Henryand Charles.
My husband's grandfather was Reginald Nepean. I'm trying to put a family tree together but not just for his line of the family.

Bev.
There are so many people with the same name in this family it gets rather confussing at times. My husband ( Gary Edmund Charles Nepean Baker) is Reginald's ( Not your father but your Grandfather' brother) grandson - I think.
Reginald married twice (1)- Triphene Rogers and had 6 kids Estelle, Olga, Ethel,Reginald, Gerald, Algernon. (2) Maude Elizabeth Brown they had 4 kids Sybil, Evan, Edmund Charles and Norma. Gary is Norma's Son.
From talking to Norma and Sybil, Reginald (Sr) had 6 siblings Evan( stayed in England) Algernon Sr. Arthur came to Canada with Reginald Sr. but went to Idaho in a covered wagon, Olga Sr, Ethel Sr. and Mary.

( I've used Sr. to identify the older generation). The older generations father's name was Thomas and I believe his wife was Mary.
The Colleen Primrose that you have been writing to is from the family branch of Estelle Nepean( Gary's mother's 1/2 sister) who married Willie Primrose.
Gary's Mom would love to know a bit about the Nepeans that moved to the States, She often talks about Vesta.
Hope I haven't confused you with all of this

Donna

They had 7 kids.Evan Reginald, had the second name as Nanspean. According to Norma she thought the brother Arthur had 4 kids Vesta,Velma ( maybe Zelma) Arthur and Reginald.
I have found a lot of info through the Latter Day Saints website. also from a site called Ancestry.com. from that site I got names and addresses of Nepeans. I haven't contacted them but one day I might.
I'm trying to get as much put together as I can , as we have a relative coming to Canada from England that is interested in this family tree. Her Name is Jackie Nepean Collier. She would be the granddaughter of Evan Nanspean Nepean.
I would be interested in receiving as much info on your family as you have. I've gone back as far as 1590 but haven't got all the pieces together.
I'm in Toronto e-mail address rekab.baker@sympatico.ca

Nepeans

Hi - My husbands family name is Nepean. I have been trying to put some of the information together for his Mom. I do not believe they come from the Frederick Nepean line of the family. We are having trouble
finding out just who Thomas Nepeans father was. There are so many names the same. I think but not a 100% that gary's family is from the Nicholas line. I would like to share as much info on early family lines as possible. I've got most of my information from the Latter Day Saints.
