Milwaukee's German newspapers: Anna Maria Neubauer, d. 1883

Special Notices
Death Notice
Friends and neighbors, the sad news that our much beloved wife and mother Anna Maria Newubauer, born Reitz, on Thursday at 11:00 before noon, at the age of 39 years and 21 days, after a long illness is resting in peace.
The burial service will take place on Sunday, the 29th of July at 1:30 in the afternoon from the mourning home, No. 425 6th Street.
Personal condolences please, the mourning and bereaved: Louis Neubauer, husband, including children.

Der Seebote (Milwaukee, Wis., daily ed.) 28 Jul 1883, pg 4 col 8; Salzmann Library, St. Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, Wisconsin

This Neubauer family was actually living in Oconto County, Wisconsin, but Anna Maria Reitz Neubauer came to her parent's home in Milwaukee for treatment after being ill for about a year (noted on the death record). She is buried in the Reitz family plot at Calvary Cemetery, Milwaukee.
The widower Louis Joseph Neubauer married his half-sister-in-law Elisabeth Reitz in about 1884 and had 3 or more children with her. He had 6 or more children with his first wife Anna Maria.

If anyone has access to a civil registration, or church record for these marriages that probably took place in Oconto or Marathon County, Wis., I would like to add them to my research on the Reitz family. I have not found these marriages in church, civil, or library collections in Milwaukee. I am particularly looking for Anna Maria Reitz Neubauer's mother's maiden name.

Some Milwaukee surnames connected with these families include Oppermann, Sentz, Steil

I hope this information is helpful for someone's Neubauer research.

Gary Rebholz
Milwaukee Wisconsin

Bedrich Neubauer 1908 Czech Republic Jihlava

Dear all,
I would like to find my relatives in USA. My grandmother died 10th June last week and only one thing, she left for me here, is postcard from her brother Bedrich Neubauer. He had left Czech Republic after communistic putsch at 1948 with 2 sons (twins)and wife to West Germany. Then they flew to New York at 28th October 1952 and this is my last info about them. I think the twins and their families are alive and I would like to give them info about death of my grandmother Marie Neubauerova. She was 94 years old. I know that her brother Bedrich was born 1908 and maybe the twins were born 1947...
Please if you can give me any help send email to me.
Thanks a lot.
Leos Fikeis, fikeisl@seznam.cz
Hi ,
I wondering what family of Neubauer you have history on. I was married to Gerald Roger Neubauer, of Med ford, WI. His father's name was Carl Wolfgang Neubauer, married to Thema Downing. Carl's father was John Neubauer Sr, married to Mary Demlitner, supposedly both from Germany. Carl was one of at least 10 children. I am just starting to research this line for my five children. If you or anyone has any information on this Neubauer line, please contact ,e

Cyndi,

I am afraid not ... I am having trouble with my neubauers as well. But I am from Germany and hence saw, that you misspelled the state. It might help your search if you knew that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a state in Northern East Germany and Strelitz is most likely near Neu-Strelitz (if t isn't almost the same these days).

If you have more information and know your families then-faith you might try to contact a potential parish and see if they can't help you.

Kristin

PS: Sadly I don't even know yet, where my Neubauers originated.

Not much help, but at least a correction of spelling:

Mecklenburg (that would be the state) ... northern east germany
and Strelitz ... must be near Neu-Strelitz and if I remember correctly that would be close to a huge lake called Müritz.

Kirisnt

I am a descendant of Wilhelm Neubauer born in Prussia in 1821 and have a current record of all descendants of Wilhelm. I am interested in descendants of his two brothers. Johann Gottlieb Neubauer born 1826 and Carl August Neubauer born 1830. I believe the brothers came to the US in the late 1850's. acn1927@aol.com

Albert/Emma Neubauer Lutter connection- Newark, NJ early 1900's

Hermann LUTTER married Emma NEUBAUER, date unknown, but must have been between 1890 and 1924. Herman died in Monmouth County July 3, 1924. Emma was listed as the surviving spouse on the death certificate. I only knew about the first wife, Clara UHL, whom he married in 1888.

Furthermore, Herman sued Albert NEUBAUER, a mental incompetent, for room and board. According to the court case (125 A. 113), Albert died an old man on October 13, 1921. Rose SEIPEL administered his estate.

Any relatives out there who can shed light on these connections?

Photo was taken in “April, 1936” in Oshkosh, WI. One of the names on the back of the photo is Leonard John Neubauer.

Rev. Schlueter was pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI from 1921 to 1952. I found Leonard J. Neubauer in the SSDI, showing DOB 9 Mar 1923, and that his last residence was Oshkosh, WI before his death in Jul 1993.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Leonard John Neubauer.

Perhaps I would know of some of Henrietta's parents or grandparents. My ggggggreat grandfather Joseph Nathan Neubauer died in what is now Wroclaw Poland. Would that be the same area that you are looking for? Let me know if I am remotely close, I hope this gets to someone.

My name is Kevin Neubauer and we are in Omaha, NE. So I was talkng with my dad and we think we might have some relation to your posting here. My dad, Gordon Neubauer, who's father is Clearance Neubauer had 3 brothers(Lawerence, who they called "Butch", Don and Dick - all of whom are deceased, Lawerence he thinks might have only been 1-2 years ago, he wasn't sure) and 4 sisters(Dorothy - deceased, Lucille, who they called Loopy, Mae and Betty). Gordon's grandfather on his Father's side is Gustav, and in his family, Gustav's brother would be Leonard's dad. He goes on to say that those 2 married twin sisters, making Clearance and Leonard double cousins.
