Family Tree DNA announced a Holiday Sale going on now till December 31st. So if you have thought about joining the Neuman DNA Project in the past, or have a distant or potential cousin you would like to sponsor or recruit this might be a good time with the currently reduced prices. I am one of the volunteer administrators of the Newman/Neuman/Neumann DNA Project and would like to make everyone aware who are researching the Neuman surname of our project, we are actively seeking new members and would especially like to get more participation from our Neuman(n) cousins. DNA testing is a very useful and powerful tool when used in combination with traditional genealogy. With Y-DNA testing the project has been very successful at sorting out individuals into lineages, this is done by genetically comparing a male's Y-chromosome to others of the same or similarly spelled surname to see if they match and confirming a shared ancestry. Our project is growing quickly and closing in on 100 members. By taking part you could potentially find Neuman cousins in other countries, confirm you belong to a certain lineage or take your family history beyond where your paper trail ends. With each new member's results we learn more about the varied and exciting histories of the worldwide Neuman/Newman families. It is our hope that all Neuman lines will participate, not only for themselves but knowing they are helping future Neuman/Newman researchers as well. Hello All:

If anyone has information regarding William (Wilhelm) E. Berg or Tora or Dora C. Berg (maiden name Winstrand) I have seen listing for Tora as Dora. I am not too sure which one is correct. William came to the U.S. in 1886 from Malmo, Sweden. They lived for some time in Pueblo, Colorado, before moving to San Diego.

I am interested in both William and Tora, as well as their daughters Ingrid (married name Neuman) and Elsie (married name Gray). Ingrid married Herman, and Elsie married Paul A.

Sorry I haven't written back sooner. All my paperwork was stored away. My Johanna Neumann has 4 different birth dates 1863 on Death Cert. and 1900 and 1920 census records. Then I have 1866 in Marriage License and 1867 on 1930 census.
Marriaage License says Pommernt, Germany as birth place.
Emmigration 1881 on Death Cert; 1882 on 1900 & 1920 Census and 1878 on 1930 census.
Naturalization 1890 on 1920 Census.
She married a Henry Krieg on April 17, 1892 at 621 E 155th St.
She had 1 previous child named Rose Neumann born 11/2/1886.
Two children named Henry and Ema Krieg.
She died in 1941 at 2080 Daly Ave., Bx. NY
It is really hard to know which dates are correct. I have stopped doing the research. I was doing all 4 grandparents of mine. Did very well except for her. The names are too common.

I am a great-granddaughter of Patrick Henry Newman, Jr. and SuElla Mulligan (who you refer to as LuElla). I descend through their son, Thomas Shelley, and his daughter, Frances Virginia. I am fortunate to have inherited a blanket with Patrick's name embroidered on it and some of Suella's monogrammed silverware. I'd love to see the photos you have of them and learn more about your line.

Returning to the county, he engaged in the confectionery business, under the firm name of Neuman & Wiest, for nine years, and then engaged in the wholesale manufacture of ice cream. In 1874 he also engaged in the manufacture of agricultural implements, which he still continues. He was married in 1867 to Miss. S. NEUMAN, merchant and member of the firm of H. Berger & Co., was born in Prussia in 1822; came to America in 1848; lived one year in New York City; then went to Washington Co., N. Y., and engaged in merchandising till 1858, firm of Neuman & Cantrovitz. They came to La Crosse in that year, and continued in business together till 1877, when Mr. Cantrovitz went to Milwaukee and engaged in the wholesale cigar trade, and Mr. Neuman continued business alone till the present partnership was formed, in the fall of 1879. They were located in Healey's Block, corner of Second and Main streets (double store, 22x70 and 30x70, with basement), and keep a stock of dry goods, clothing and millinery goods. Mr. Neuman has been in the dry goods trade in La Crosse longer than any other man, except Mons Anderson.

He was born in Outagamie County Wisconsin on May 23,1898 as Elmer Alfred Erdmann Neumann.

WWI Draft lists him Edward Elmer. Marriage lists him Elmer.

Married in 1920 with 2 girls & divorced around 1928-1929.

Had a girlfriend in Milwaukee but nothing is known abt her.

Worked as an Auto Mechanic or with Auto's in some way.

By 1948 he was in Detroit per his mothers obit. Nothing more is known about him.

jack sr. and glennie faye had 3 children together in michigan.
he took off around 1941+ and hadn't been heard from since then. glennie remarried and she was able to raise her 3 children in michigan. sadly, she passed away in 2001.

I am looking for info on Elmer Alfred Erdmann Neuman b May 1898, WI (He could have gone by Alfred) who married June 11, 1920 in Milwaukee Susan Renner b abt 1901, Wi .

They had 2 children we are aware of-Doris b.Sept 22, 1922 & Betty b Nov 27,1924 both in Milwaukee. We lose the family after this.

It is possibly the couple could have divorced with each remarried.

Elmers niece who is in her 70's has been searching many years for any info on her Aunt & Uncles with little to no luck.

I've got a Rose Nejman (Neuman/n) Gabryszewka from Poland who came over in 1885, to chicago with her mother Katarzyna - that I'm positive about - but I just found an Anastasia Neumann on my ggrandmother's baptism docs so this might be one of Rose's sisters or cousins.
I think I found her arriving in Castlegarden on "America" arriving 8 Feb 1885, but I haven't seen the passenger list yet to find who else came with her.

Someone had given me information that Rose had 5 brothers and sisters... ?

Does anyone know anything about an Anastasia Neuman who might have lived in Chicago around 1885 - I just got my ggrandmother's baptism record and Sophia's mom was Rosalia Neuman and the godmother was Anastasia. I don't know if she was a cousin or what.

I think Rosalia came to the States in 1884 and her husband Joseph Gabryszwka (I'm sure I spelt it wrong) in 1885. they were Polish but I don't know where in Poland or why they came separately. they had a daughter, Martha who was born in 1882 so I'm assuming they were married in Poland.

Although I have no Neuman/Newman in my ancestry I have the 1887 CHARLES NEWMAN OF CENTRALIA, MARION CO., IL, application papers for entry into the Soldiers Home in Quincy, IL.

He was born abt. 1818 in Prussia and died at the Quincy Veterans Home in 1889.

The papers contain his Civil War Discharge Papers, battles he fought in, a little personal informtion, and some medical information. There is no family information.

I am in search of Michael Neuman(may be with two n's), born in September of 1832, somwhere in Germany/Prussia. If I have found the correct records, he died in 1904, Lincoln County, Wisconsin. He was married to Augusta Netz (Nitz) and they immigrated together in 1883 to Wisconsin. I am trying to find out where in Germany/Prussia they came from.

Additional information - They had a daughter, Amelia, who married Carl (Charles or Chas) Raddatz. They married in Germany/Prussia (again, I'm trying to find out where) and immigrated in 1880 to Lincoln County, Wisconsin. They had a daughter (my great grandmother) named Emilie Louise Raddatz who married Otto Genz in 1898.

We are seeking Neumann descendants that are related to August Adolph(b. March 18, 1848); Herman Frederick (December 16, 1855) and Wm. Rudolph Neumann (b. April 15, 1853) in Marienburg, West Prussia, Germany. They all settled in Gage County, Nebraska, in the Beatrice area and they left two brothers in Marienburg: Adolph and John. There have been some sisters that settled in Nebraska, also.

Their father's name was Adolph and we recently found their father's name listed as Otto on Herman Neumann's marriage record.

Born 1895 in Kaukauna, Wi. Married 4 x. Helene, whom he possibly had 2 children by a son Harold lived 1-2 months born before 1930 & a daughter before 1930. He then married a Minnie Schumacker of Milwaukee who gave him a daughter Alice b 1930 Milwaukee still resides in Milwaukee. Married a Betty & a Cecelia Taylor whom he was wed to or recently divorced from when he died in July 1957 in Fox Lake Township,Dodge Co.

I am unsure what you are asking. If you are asking is there a Frank Neumann in the Neuuman liine I am researching I can at this time say NO there is not. Nor do any Indians show up.

I'm of the belief you may have the wrong line.
There are many many Neuman(n) families out there that are not connected to each other.

Lu Schindeldecker, 80, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Spooner, Wisconsin. She was born on Nov. 15, 1920, in Sanborn, Iowa, to August and Anna (Fiepel) Neuman. On Feb. 19, 1944, she married Roy Schindeldecker in Waukegan, Ill. Her husband preceded her in death on April 13, 1998. She is survived by two sons, Terry (Diane) of Gurnee, Ill., and Gregg (Char) of Shell Lake; five grandchildren, Jamie, Kristen, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Tracy; three sisters, Mina (Bill) Bonsall and Nellie (Eddie) Edwards, both of Seattle, Wash., and Marian Goulding of Spooner; six brothers, Frank (Carol) Neuman of Shell Lake, Ralph (Geraldine) Neuman of Spooner, Harold (Grace) Neuman of Chicago, Joe (Val) Neuman of Port Arthur, Texas, Leo (Dawn) Neuman of Rice Lake, and Eugene (Delores) Neuman of Minneapolis.

Seeking any info on an Elmer Neuman born Wisconsin in 1898-divorced Susan Renner abt 1928-29 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He was married & divorced several times in his life.

Per his daughter he had a profession with Autos possibly owning his own business.

Rumor puts him in the Detroit area or surrounding area in the 1930-1940's.

One of his daughters knows nothing more about him.

We would appreciate any help anyone can give us.

We am seeking info on Doris Neuman b 9/22/1922 Milwaukee, Wisconsin & Betty Neuman b Nov 27,1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

They are the daughters of Elmer AKA: Edward & Susan Renner Neuman who divorced abt 1924-1925.

We know Susan & the girls still resided in Milwaukee in 1930 per census.

We hope someone may be able to help us locate any info on the girls, who are most likely deceased by now.
