Still looking for any information on my Nevin ancestors. I've located their gravestone in Cumberland, Barron County, Wisconsin. They were left Ireland, went to Ontario, Canada, and then travelled to Barron County.
Their children were:
Jane (abt 1855) -- married to August Hart
Anthony (abt 1856) -- married to Lily May Patrick - stayed in Canada
Joseph (1857-1893)-- died in Barron County
James (abt 1857) -- married Rebecca Stewart from Ireland. They courted prior to leaving Ireland.
Another "Stewart"... any relationship to Martha??
She came from a family with many daughters. She came to the US at a different time than James did. They had a large family, and settled in the Cumberland area (Barron County).
Rebecca (abt 1865) - married Samuel McCoy. The "McCoy" name pops up quite a bit as well with the Nevin descendants. Perhaps a clue? They stayed in Ontario at least for awhile as they were listed on the 1901 census there.
Matilda Scarlet (1868-1953) -- my gg grandmother. She had a daughter out of wedlock who died in infancy. She then married my gg grandfather, John M Johnson. She was pregnant with their fourth child when he died in a horse/logging accident. She later married Carl T Germanson and had three more children.
If ANYONE has any information on the beginnings of this family, I would be so grateful!! I have quite a bit of info on those who settled in Wisconsin, but nothing prior to them coming here.
Thanks!
Sandi
