I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Mrs. Ella Newberry Fish”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Lincoln (Lancaster Co.) NE, and she looks to be about 25 years old.

I found Ella in the 1900 census, she lived in Chicago, as Ella L. Newberry, age 26 (born Jul 1873 IL), wife of Herbert H. Fish (Feb 1870 NY), with son Herbert Jr. (Jun 1892 WI), and living with them was Margaret Newberry (born Aug 1827 Canada), Herbert Sr.’s mother in law. In 1920 and 1930, Herbert H. and Ella L. Fish lived in Omaha, NE, with son in 1910, and with Margaret Newberry in 1910 and 1920.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Ella Newberry Fish.

I am looking for any Newberry's that lived in Ohio at the turn of the 19th Century. My father was born in Kenosha, WI 1917 Stanley Newberry, Jr. His father was Stanley Newberry who died in Kenosha, Aug. 1956. Stanley, Sr. was originally from Ohio and his brothers were Blaine and Carlos. It is possible that his father's name was Samuel. If any of these names is familiar let me know.

Despite my efforts since 1977, I have been unable to discover the parentage and ancestry of my ancestor Robert Newberry. What I do know is that he was born in the early 1790's, possibly in New Jersey, and that he died in February of 1847 in Morgan County, Ohio. His wife, Eliza(beth) Kelly, was born in 1796 in Philadelphia to William and Martha (Jones) Kelly. Robert and Eliza were maried in 1815 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their children were: Joseph, Amasa, Mary, Samuel, Elizabeth, and James.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would like information regarding this line. What I have is very sketchy. I know there are tons of McComas/McCommas lines. I could not find a single link in the McComas message board to my line.

I am searching for the parents of my gggrandmother Sally(Sarah) Newberry. I have very little info on her. I believe she was born in TN possibly around 1825.(Not sure about this.) Sally married John Sullivan (he may have been born in AL?) I know they had two daughters: Emily Catherine Sullivan b. 1854(my ggrandmother) and Alida Kate Sullivan. Emily's death certificate states that her mother Sally was born in Weakley Co., TN. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not. Emily married Marshall Lafayette Rhodes in 1871 in Weakley Co. and (Alida)Kate married Marion Jackson Phillips in Gibson Co., Tn in 1883.

I found an 1880 census from Gibson Co., TN containing:

Sullivan John age 56 birth AL Father VA Mother VA
Sallie age 56 birth TN Father NC MOther NC
Lydie age 20 birth AR

I feel this may be the correct family, but I can't find them before this with Emily still in the household.

Is anyone familiar with this Newberry and her family?

Thanks,
Robin (Rhodes) Bigham

Devonshire Newbury or Newberry families?

Although we are interested in the NEWBERRY families in general, we are still searching for the ancestry of "our" Richard NEWBERRY (aka NEWBURY, etc.) of Lifton, Devonshire and his wife Priscilla MASON of Kelly, Devonshire. They are the parents of Emma and another nine children born in Lifton and Marystow, Devon, England:

Emma Jane NEWBERRY was born February 25, 1846 in Marystow, Devonshire. She married John STACEY (c1840-1890) on April 22, 1865 at Upton Church in Torquay, Devonshire but emigrated in 1871 from England with her husband and the first three of twelve future children. The family settled in Durham County, Ontario and now have descendants across Canada. Emma died on June 23, 1896 and is buried in Bowmanville Cemetery in Durham, Ontario, Canada beside her husband John STACEY and near his sister Grace STACEY.

Seems this family dropped off the earth after appearing in the 1860 Burlington City, DesMoines Co., Iowa census. Amos Newberry had been a Major in the Civil War, Co. A, 15th Iowa Infantry. 1860 census has Amos, wife Catherine, (nee Taylor), children: Jacob, Alben/Albion, Nancy J., Sarah E., George, Amos and Jane. The latter two were born in Iowa and all others in Pa. A daughter, Mary who was age 1 in the 1850 Perry twp., Clarion co., Pa. census is missing by the 1860 Iowa census. Where did this family go? Did they all move out of state after the Civil War? Amos's Co A mustered out in Kentucky in 1865. Is it possible the family moved to Kentucky? Any clue as to the whereabouts of any of this family would be greatly appreciated.

Newberry/Newbury

I am looking for information on Rose Sipiorski Newberry. She was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Sipiorski. I believe she could have lived in either Detroit, Michigan or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I do not know the name of her husband. Just that she married someone with the last name Newberry. She had 8 sisters. Mary, Magdelina, Freda, Agnes, Elizabeth, Eva, Edna and Frances. She was born in NY possible Carrolton, or Salamanca in approx. 1889. I never knew she existed until i came across one of her sisters obit's. No one i have contact with knows anything about her. Most even doubted that she existed. They said the obit was probably a mistake. I checked the 1900 census and she did exist. She lived with her parents and sisters on Academy Street. This is the only record i have of her. By the 1910 census she was not listed with her family, or in Salamanca. She was listed in her sisters obit in 1967 as living in Detroit. Anyone who has any info please email me. I'm very interested to find out what happened to her and why she seemed to have disappeared from the rest of her family.
Thanks
Nicole
Destynee22@aol.com

I have an original studio photograph of “Florence Newberry”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1910, and on the back of the photo is stated her name and “28 – Dec 8, 1882 – daughter of Geo W. Newberry and Martha A. Newberry” This is definitely a ca 1910 photo, and I found in the 1900 census of DeKalb (DeKalb Co.) IL, that Florence was born in Dec 1882. In 1900 census, her parents were George and Martha A., matching the info on the photo.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Martha A.
POW/MIA Korean War, NEWBERRY

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Bibb County GA as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: JAMES ROY NEWBERRY
Born: June 15, 1931
Date of loss: December 8, 1952, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Newberry family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I've been researching the 1900 Galveston, TX. Hurricane and just recently found a partial census that was taken months before the Hurricane hit.
Angeline Newberry married Jacob Weaver---OH

Through another source I was given information that my great-grandfather Edward C. Johns married (Anna) Anabel B. Weaver in Ohio. The census has that Anna's father was Jacob Weaver born about Feb. 1859 and died after 1930. Her mother was Angeline or Angelina born about August 1870 and died after 1930 census. They were married in OH about 1885. They had three children named Louis S., Anna, and William D. According to the information I was given: Daniel Weaver was Jacob's father and his mother was Sarah. Anna Weaver's mother Angeline/Angelina's last name is NEWBERRY. Supposively Angeline's mother's, mother supposively married a full-blooded Native American with a last name of Youngblood in Ohio as far as I know. I have finally gotten closer after all these years. I hope someone out there can help me continue further in this search for my family, as well as, this Native American ancestry line search. I want to know if it is true or not. My grandfather died in 1998, so there isn't many family members on this side who can help these days.

Samuel Newberry Sr. -Bland Co. Virginia

Samuel Newberry Sr. is my 5G-Grandfather. I have a lot of information on him which includes a story of his leaving Ireland as a stowaway to follow to older brothers to America. There is a suggestion that the brothers landed in Baltimore and that's where Samuel Sr. did as well. His passage being paid by a Mr. Crockett to whom he served 7 years as an indentured servant. I am looking specifically for the names of his brothers as well as the names of his parents. With this link and perhaps one more, I'd be able to trace my Newberry line to 910 AD. Please contact me at billn@arcticmail.com if you are able to offer any assistance. Thanks - Bill Newberry

NEWBERRY, Wilbur

Hello Fellow Researchers, I am looking for birth, death & marriage dates for Wilbur Newberry (b. ? d. ?). I'd also like to know his father's name & dates on him as well. Wilbur's mother was Mrs. Inez M. (Robinson) Newberry Revelle (b. 8-22-1883 d. 3-4-1977) born IL & died Los Angeles Co., CA. Last known residence for Wilbur's mother I have is Pima County, AZ, could be Coronado, AZ or perhaps Tucson, AZ, but that was years ago. Hoping to get lucky.

Wilbur's mother Inez was 1st married to a Mr. ? Newberry (b. ? d. ?), then was later married 9-7-1910 to Henry Denton Revelle "Little Henry" (b. 12-31-1875 d. 9-27-1959) born Madison Co., MO & died in Torrence, CA Los Angeles, Co. Henry I believe is buried in Oddfellows Cemetery in Madison Co., MO with 1st wife Carrie Lynn (Menteer) Revelle (b. 5-30-1875 d. 10-3-1909) born and died Fredericktown, MO Madison Co. Do not know where Inez is buried, perhaps with her first husband?

Wilbur Newberry has stepsiblings as well. His stepbrother born between mother Inez and stepfather Henry Denton Revelle is: Harold Denton Revelle (b. ? d. ?) last known living in San Francisco, CA. Would love dates and marriage info. on him as well.

Wilbur's stepsiblings from Henry Denton Revlle's 1st marriage to Carrie Lynn (Menteer) Revelle are:

Martha Leatrice Revelle (b.2-9-1902 d. 8-26-1903)

Dorothy (Revelle) Lagerstrom (b. ? d. ?) of Ventura, CA

& one other unknown stepsister buried in the Oddfellows Cemetery in Madison Co., MO

Thank you for your kind attention and time.

Lynette Davey of MO
I am researching my Newberry roots, and I keep seeing mention of a book called The Ancestors and Descendants in America of Andrew Todd Newberry BY F. Hanna Newberry Achenbaugh b. abt. 1836 5. George Washington Newberry b. abt. 1839 6. Eliza Newberry b. abt. 1841 7. Martha Newberry b. abt. 1842 8. Mary Newberry Smith b. October 05, 1844 9.
