Elizabeth Josephine Newbre/Newberry/Newbury-MI

This is my gggrandmother, who I think is going to drive me to drink...I have so much conflicting info on her.
The only concrete info is that she was born in March of 1860. I have her parents listed as Guy and Sarah Hughes Newberry/ Newbre per 1860 census. But in her 2nd marriage,April 1890, she lists her parents as Jacob Newbury and Elizabeth Simone. If I can find her subsequent marriage lisc.(she seems to have buried five husbands)maybe I can get the truth. One other husband I know is Henry Emery. I don't know if she married him in MI or OH.
Only real concrete thing I have at the moment are pictures of her taken in the early 1940's with my uncle and brother and another with her daus. Eva, Mamie, my ggrandmother Dora, my aunt Reva and her son Robert Errol Normand in his Navy uniform. He went down with his ship in 1943 so I know the limit 9of the date on the picture. Where and when she died are as much a mystery as her birth.

Caroline Mathews Newbury (b.1848), son Horace (b.1871), lived Racine Co., WI

I have two original photographs of “Caroline Mathews Newbury (Mrs. W.W.)”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. One of the photos is of Caroline, with boys Horace and Robert Newbury, and with Maude and Grace Mathews. Photo of Caroline alone is a studio portrait and was taken in about 1900, in Burlington (Racine Co.) WI. Photo of Caroline with boys and Maude and Grace (who look like sisters) was taken around 1880 or so, and Caroline looks about 30, the boys about 8 & 10, and the sisters about 17-19.

I found Caroline in the 1900 census for Racine Co., wife of William Newbury, and her DOB is Oct 1848. In 1880 census, same location, she is wife of William W. Newberry (not spelling) and they are parents of Charles E. (11), Horace V. (9) and Marey A. (3). I did not find any Robert Newbury/Newberry or any Grace or Maude Mathews. Going back to 1850 & 1860 censuses, she is shown as daughter of Daniel and Ellen Mathews of Burlington (Racine Co.) WI.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Caroline or Horace Newbury.

Photographs are from the 1860's - 1960's. This book has no connection with my ancestors, but I just couldn't leave it on the shelf. Someone out there must be interested in it. Will send for postage to first interested email reply. It's the whole book or nothing - I will not tear out pages or photos.

DATA: NEWBURY (several different) listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Newbury, Frances Whitehurst
Newbury, Maud
Newbury, Maud Hunter

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

I am looking for anyone with a link to John Newbury b 1836 in Hackney, Middlesex, England married to Ann Harris b 1841. He was a bricklayer and moved his family around. Their first child Elizabeth was born in Kent 1865. The next three (Frederick 1867, William 1869, and Florence 1871) were all born in Surrey. Four more - Alice 1873, Edward James 1875, Alfred Bertram 1881, Clara 1884 - were born in Leytonstone, Essex. The family lived there for at least 30 years. I have been unable to go further with John's line to date. Would be grateful for any help.

There is a Lemuel Newbury on the 1820 census for Clarence, Niagara (later became Erie) Co., NY, pg. 46. He is listed on the same page as a Simeon Newbury and Parkes or Parker Newbury. I was interested in the Newbury family as they seem to be popping up with my Andrus family and I'm wondering about a connection, perhaps while they were living in Otsego Co., NY, where my Andrus family lived at one time.

Wallace James Newbury (b.1900), son of Horace/Jessie of Burlington (Racine Co.) WI

I have two original studio photographs of Wallace James Newbury, which I would like to get back to family members. Each photo was taken at the same time, on “Feb 9, 1901”, and one is of Wallace smiling, and in the other, he is not smiling, but just as cute. On the back of the photo is stated, he was born “Oct 19, 1900”. Photos were taken in Burlington (Racine Co.) WI, and Wallace is wearing a gorgeous long christening gown.

In the 1910 census for Burlington, WI, I found Wallace as age 9, son of Horace H. Newbury, a dentist, and his wife Jessie, and his little brother, Ralph, age 3.

If you are related to this family, email me at margerice@prodigy.net.

I am looking for information about William Newbury and his wife of Folke, Dorset, England. They had at least three children: William (1821), Charlotte (1819), and Sarah Medway Newbury (1823). William is listed as a carpenter in the 1841 census. Charlotte married Robert Pitman of Folke, and Sarah married James Ridout and Mark Osment. She also had three children who bear the surname of Newbury: George born in the Sherborne Union Workhouse, John, and Ann Elizabeth. Any information about William and his wife will be greatly appreciated.

Robert Newbury, Portage (Columbia) WI; Horace Newbury, Waukesha (Waukesha) WI, each born abt 1890

I have two photos, one of Robert Newbury, taken about 1895 in Portage (Columbia Co.) WI, and one of Horace Newbury Jr., "son of Charles", also taken about 1895, in Waukesha (Waukesha Co.) WI. These are each photos of the boys at about age 6-12 months, in christening gowns.I would like to get these back in the hands of family members. I found a WWI Draft Registration for Horace C. Newbury, showing he was born 31 Dec 1893 in WI, and registered in Waukesha (Waukesha Co.). The 1900 census for Waukesha shows that he was son of Charles and Jessie Newbury. If you are related to either Robert or Horace, please email me at margerice@prodigy.net.

I am searching for my ancestry line through my father's surname. My father is Kirby Newbury, born in 1960. The Newbury line began with a Ulysis Newbury born 12-1-1909 and died 3-31-1974. All I know about Ulysis is that his parent's names were Oscar Newbury and Julia Juedsmas. I believe Ulysis had siblings (Birge or Birgh, Mabel, Roy and ?). Ulysis was married to Minnie Gertrude Adams. They had one daughter, Charla Newbury. If you have any information please respond to: jnewdoc2b@hotmail.com.

Thanks in advance!

Newbury/Newberry Shoe Cove Newfoundland

I am trying to piece together the various brothers resident in Shoe Cove for the 1921 Canadian Census. I'm especially interested in finding if there were two brothers, one Henry and the other George who either one or the other or both had a daughter Minnie that was in the Salvation Army with Henry. Henry and George would have been born in early 1860's or 1870's.

Trying to find James Jerome Newbury

I am trying to locate a relative of mine whos name is James Jerome Newbury. The information I have on him is very limited. I do know he was married to a woman named Patricia and had a daughter by her named Sarah Catherine. I believe they were married in Maryland sometime between 1968 and 1973, but could be off by a few years. They were divorced probably between 1975 and 1977. If anyone out there could help me in my search it would be greatly appreciated. Please just post/reply here, since the e-mail address I'm using is not my own and will not be able to recieve mail. Thanking you in advance.
Katie

Looking for information on Linda NEWBURY born about 1885 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, PA.

Linda married three times:
1- about 1902 to George E COLEBOURN. They had a daughter, Emily, born in Jan 1903. George died in 1905.

2- in 1908 to Frank FERRY. They had a daughter, Eileen, born in 1910. I do not know what happened to Frank.

3- about 1918 to L H BARGHAUSEN. They had a daughter, Nancy, born in 1919. I found that a number of children from L H's first marriage went to live in the Port Charlotte FL area but do not know if Linda and Nancy were among them.

Linda's parents are Sidney & Emily NEWBURY, originally from England and born in the mid 1850s. Linda had siblings named James b@1886, Sidney b1888 (he died in Dallas TX in 1976), Sara b@1890, and William b1898. Sidney & Emily
are buried at Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh along with several of their children.

I am hoping to find out what happened to Linda after the 1920 census and what became of her daughters. I do know that the eldest, Emily, married in Pittsburgh in 1921 but have nothing further.
I am searching for JOHN HALL. the following information is the best I have and has been
gathered from mostly unconfirmed family verbal history.

JOHN HALL was born abt. 1775 in England, and died abt.1824 in Pennsylvania. He
married ANNA NEWBERRY. She was from Pittsburgh, Penn. and she died in
Uniontown, Penn. about 1868.

Children of JOHN and ANNA are:
Seville Hall b. abt. 1814
Harriet Hall b. abt. 1816
John Hall b. abt. 1818
Elizabeth Hall b. abt. 1820
Sally Hall b. abt. 1822
Reuban Hall b. April 14,1825 Union County, Penn.; d. Aug. 19, 1878, Bristol, IN.

It has been said that John came from England, with his brother Charles, about
1810-1812. They entered through New Orleans, LA and moved to Union County,
Pennsylvania. Another family member states that John Hall was a privateer, fought at the
battle of New Orleans and then went to Pennsylvania.

My search has concentrated around Union, Center, Mifflin, and Snyder counties. Mainly
due to Reuban Hall (my great great Grandfather).

If you have information that may help me please contact me.
E-mail: chucktubbs@prodigy.net
Phone: 219-848-1322
Mail:	Charles Tubbs
19500 Cr. 14
Bristol, IN 46507

This search has become a pressing issue. My uncle started this family search and I joined
in about 2 years ago. He now has terminal cancer and won’t be with us much longer. I
would like to hand him his Great Great Grandfather before he is gone.

Thank You for all your help.

Searching from information on a Peter Jefferson Newberry who was once married to Virginia Florence Stevens and had 3 children-Effie, Sam and Robert. He wasdivored to his first wife. He later married Alice Rose and had 5 more children. My father is the last living child and he is now 80 years old. Petewas b 9/5/1880 I believe in Va and died 12/9/1958 in Middlesboro, KY. We have located a niece who is the daughter of Robert but can't make contact with the other family. It is possible he was born in WV or in any of the surounding areas as those boundaries changed often. It is possible that both Pete and Alice were orphans. We know that Pete belonged to the Moose Club in Beckley WV but they no longer have records that far back. If he changed his name we don't know why it was done. If you are from VA. WV, NC or KY please see if there are any Newberrys who might be related.
Thanks so much.
Marilyn

Hi, I'm still looking for my brother... I did find out a little more. He is in his mid 30's, probably born in Rhode Island. I believe his first name is John, our Dad was John Newbury of Providence, RI. I don't know his first wife's name, just know that she remarried her husband adopted my brother, so I'm not sure what his last name became. I would guess that was in the early 70's. I believe they moved out west. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

At that time Cyrus was the only one there, but it is possible that he was the grandparent.
In grandma's journal she also mentions Jasper County, well when I was doing research in that county this was where Cyrus and three children were buried, so I am betting that there is some connection to Sarah Newberry.
I would love to talk to anyone from this line.

Katie

She (Laurine had a twin sister named Coreen). I'm told that he has a daughter; Pearline.
