I am deacended from Morgan Daniel Morris, son of Caleb and Martha Paschal Morris. Wanna share dead relatives? Lucinda E. Morris was the brother of my great grandfather, Morgan Daniel Morris. Leander's father was Henry H. Newhouse; Leander had a whole bunch of older siblings, and I can take you back a couple of more generations -- I found you while researching a family history photo album -- with as much of the history as I can find. Looking for the childrens names of Henry and Wilhelmine (Minna) Newhouse in the Wilmington/Farmington Delaware area. I know of Charlie born 1884, Clara born 1898, and my grandfather Edward born 1902.

Henry died 1941 and Minna died 1949.

Neuhaus became Newhouse - Wilhelmine's maiden name was Bleschke

Thanks for getting in touch. Catherine Newhouse, daughter of Anthony Newhouse (Antoine Maisonneuve)and Susannah Young, was the wife of Neil McCauley. Their son, John, married Griselda Mabel Broad. They had several children, one of which was Ruby McCauley. She was my husband's maternal grandmother. I will look up some information I have this weekend and will get back with you.

Theres no Melvina in my tree and Phoebe's oldest sibling was born in 1862. They lived in Rush and Blackford counties in Indiana.

Yes I do have the Aformentioned Melinda Melvina on my tree as being married to David Goble along with her ancestors, I just didn't have any marriage info. on the Lucretia/Melvina you mentioned in your first querry. It is is definately a differnet person.. If you Have not already I can get you in touch with a Nadine Newhouse who is a direct descendant of John M & Elizabeth (Miller) Newhouse. I will post my e-mail below & when you respond to that I will send you her e-mai thru my e-mail.

John M & Elizabeth are both a blood Uncle & Aunt of mine. I descend from John M's brother James, & Elizabeth's brother John.

I recieved an email regarding a query I made to a rush county genealogy web page here is an excerpt from that email:

I do have Melinda Melvina Newhouse (b. 11 Feb 1835 Rush Co, IN) in my data base as well as her siblings and ancestors. You have not been able to find her possibly because she first married David H. Goble 7 Oct 1860 in Rush Co.,IN. Her ancestors are also mine starting with John M.( and Elizabeth Miller Newhouse.

I have checked into this a bit, but I think this is a different woman than the Melvina that we are researching. Unfortunatly the birthdates are 20 years off.
Let me know what you think.

I Can't confirm Lucretia/Melvina's marriage, I do not have a husband listed. But what I can tell you is that Lucretia was born 24 Feb 1855, Rush Co., In. Her brother James T(homas) was born 6 Dec 1847 Rush Co., In & was married to Almira, 10 Sep 1866.

There parents were James A, (b 13 Mar 1813 Washington Co., Va.- d 1 Aug 1890 Rush Co., In) Elizabeth (Zion) Newhouse (b 3 Nov 1813 Va.,. d 22 Jan 1867 Rush Co., IN.

I do believe believe thst Lucretia/Melvina is the same person, but have no concrete proof. If I find anything out, I will certainly let you know.

Melvina Newhouse Florea b. Feb 1855 In d. April 1921 In. I have been looking all day for her parents. It is as if prior to her marriage to Patrick Henry Florea 10/3/1872(Rush Co. In) she did not exist.
Here is what i do know :
James T Newhouse 1847 married Almira Florea (Patrick's sister) so I looked into the possibility that they were siblings. On his Cemetery information it indicates James and Elizabeth were his parents. He did have a sister born in 1855 per LDS 1860 Census; however her name was Lucretia or Lucillia M. Newhouse. It is possible for the M to stand for Melvina, but I cannot confirm or refute this assumption.
If Rush County has online resorces I cannot find the portal.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for Jonathan Newhouse b. abt 1767 in Virginia. He married a M.E (Mary Elizabeth?) Copeland in Virginia. He died 1848 in Muskingum County Ohio.

His Children are listed as Nancy Ann, AMOS, ???. My guess is there are more children.

Amos married a Mary Trittenbach 1 Mar. 1821. They had John, Eliza, Mary, Nancy, Caroline and James. There might be a seventh child born to this couple.

Both Amos and Jonathan are listed on the 1830 Laurel Twp. Hocking County Ohio Census. I believe they went to Indiana and then Jonathan back to Ohio.

I'm looking for children of both men. I'm working on a family group sheet for each person listed on the 1830 Laurel Twp. Census.

Tony, My great grandfather was JAcob Newhouse. He had a brother named Morris Newhouse who was married to an Olive Buck. In the 1910 and 1920 census she is listed in Crawford County Ohio. Morris died in 1902. Prior to his death they were in Kansas City where my great grandfather had moved from Seneca County Ohio.. I am wondering if this line is connected. She and I have worked together on it for several years. I won't be able to add anything to what she's already told you. We've been trying to find Antoine's parents for years but so far haven't had any luck. Apparently the church records for the year he was born are missing - at least that's what we've been told. Maybe working together we'll be able to figure it out.

We have info that Anthony was married twice, first to Susannah "Susan" Young and they had 8 children: Eliza, Catherine, John, William, Elizabeth, Cornelius, Jane and an infant son whose name we don't know. His second marriage was to Agnes Wilson and they had one child that we know of, Janet. How do these match up with your information?

Hannah Baird was the daughter of Joseph and Abigail Baird, who migrated from Mercer County, PA to Washington Tsp., Rush County, IN about 1851. Their children were: Sarah, Isaac, Drusilla, Hannah, Eliza, Joseph, Emma, Samuel and Mary. I don't know whether they all lived to adulthood. Are we sure that Ruth Winnifred is the sister of E.R. and not a daughter born to her as a teenager? (Just asking.) Any luck at tracing her further?

Or, any luck at finding Nellie Larson on a census with her parents. That would be the best gem to find if Nellie really is the granddaughter of E.R. I don't have access to the census records or I'd look for myself.

I know it's been 10 yrs. since you posted this but Christian Newhouse who was my Gr. Gr Grandfather. AS the tree goes his son Napolean was my Gr. Grandfater, then Herman T. was my Grandfather who was George E.'s Father and that is my father. I was wondering how we know just where in France he came from and I would loved to find out more on Elizabeth Shalenbarger or Shollenburger what way she spelled it and what part of France she came from. Do you know if they came together from France?

I name David "Mike" Newhouse, son of David Sewell Newhouse, son of Milford Newhouse. Sewell Newhouse is my great grandfather.

I believe Sewell is the grand son of a one John Newhouse, not sure of the name, who came here from England during the battle of bunk hill and was taken prisoner. After the war decided to stay in America.

I believe you are talking about my about my 3g Grand Parents. I have your Roy listed as Leroy Alepheus Newhouse b. 26 Apr 1858 Clarinda Page Iowa, d. 23 Jan 1929, Carona California. He was the 3rd son of Oliver & Lydia. I am the 2nd Great Grandson of there 2nd boy James Allen Newhouse.

Lydia's Maiden Name was Fleenor and she was born 7 Oct 1833 Rush Co. Indiana & died under her 2nd husbands Name "Peregrine", 2 may 1928 Brooks Iowa.

Obit: Glendale Newhouse of Iowa (1919-2005)

Glendale Burton Newhouse, son of Onie Mayo and Genevieve (Julius) Newhouse, was born July 17, 1919 in McIntire, Iowa. He attended school in McIntire graduating from high school in 1936.
Glendale was united in marriage to Clarice Joan Shoars. To this union five children were born, Larry, Judith, Paul, Mayo and Denny.
In 1942 Glendale was inducted into the United State Navy where he served his country during WWII. He was discharged in 1945 and was always very proud of his years of service.
On January 11, 1953 Glendale was united in marriage to Norma Hanson in Palmer, Iowa. Five children were born to this union, Glen, Norma, Bill, Craig and Lori. Glendale and Norma made their home in Palo Alto County where Glendale farmed for many years. After leaving the farm he was employed at the Ruthven Coop for ten years. He enjoyed working and continued to do various jobs throughout his retirement.
Glendale was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville. He served on various civic and agriculturally related organizations and boards.
Glendale died Sunday, June 5, 2005 in Emmetsburg, Iowa after a brief illness. He attained the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; and three brothers, Leslie, Paul and Darrell Newhouse.
He is survived by his children, Larry and Barbara Newhouse of Oregon, WI, Judith Spragle of Waverly, IA and special friend, Dennis Dahlstrom, Paul and Lorna Newhouse of Marion, IA, Mayo Smith Newhouse of Blanco, TX and Denny Lynn Newhouse of New Mexico, Glen and Valerie Newhouse of Emmetsburg, IA, Norma and Jerry Holmgaard of Soldatna, AK, Bill and Ruth Newhouse of Whittemore, IA, Craig and Judy Newhouse of Colorado Springs, CO, Lori and Ben Arndt of Canton, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Davis of Turner Falls, MA and Darlene Tate of Turner Falls, MA and Audrey Ohlman and her husband, Ronald of Riceville, IA; a brother, William Newhouse and his wife, Shirley of Osage, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
