I am looking for Newkirks who were enumerated the 1900 Census as living in the Laura Mathews Household, Rose Hill, Duplin County, NC. apparently, some of the Mathews females had children whose fathers were Newkirks. Some are granddaughters and I can't figure out who belong to whom.

Laura was my gr grandmother and mother of Hattie Mathews and Walter Wathis. Walter was my grandfather who married Lottie Estelle Mclamb from Sampson County, Clinton, NC. These families lived on the WElls Farm and some enumerated as living next door to Samuel B.(S.B.) Wells who was born in Georgia in 1880.

Does anyone know anything about the Mathews, Matthis and Mathis families. These are the spelling for my family surnames used in the Census. Just curious and inquisitive at the moment.

Francis Marion Newkirk was the father of Isabel Newkirk. Her mother was Adalene Mae Moore. Isabel Newkirk was my mother. If Roy Newkirk was your grandfather, then you must be the child of either Glen, Vera Jean, or Larry -- Roy's children. I remember all of these folks very well.

Charles F. Newkirk was my great grandfather born 1867 supposedly in Mohawk, Montgomery County, New York. I believe his father was Abram Newkirk. Charles married Mary E. Baker in Sept. 1886, Reformed Dutch Church, Fleming, Owasco Outlet, Cayuga County, New York. Their daughter, Cora Ida Irene Newkirk 1896-1977 was my grandmother. I was just doing some census research, and stumbled across the record with Ellen's parents (apparently) in the household! I didn't know her parents' names previously. In the 1870 US Census for Wheaton, Chippewa County, Wisconsin, James and Eveline ("Evorena") Newkirk are living with James, Ellen, and Adella ("Adelade") JONES.
I would really like to connect with anyone else descended from James and Eveline, to find more siblings, etc.

my james madison newkirk was born about1874 in arkansas and ethal was born about 10/11/1904. there were three sisters whose mother lillie mae downs died and then james madison newkirk remarried and lived in st.francious county mo. the three sisters all lived in california and died there. ethal was crippled with polio. hope this something good and we are same. thanks

First for further posting if you would put approximate dates would make it a little easier to tell if the info is maybe the right one. Middle names are great to have but most records don't show them.

Archie, the ten-year old son of Dr. Newkirk, of Bay City, was thrown from a horse and killed last Wednesday. The horse stumbled and fell on the boy, crushing him to death.

Iam looking for information on who the parents of Samuel H. Newkirk (died 1953 etowah county,AL) and James H. Newkirk (1881-1931 etowah county,AL),and Minerva J. Newkirk.

I have been looking for information on how these people could be related for a while now.Are they siblings or possibly cousins?I haven't found any information on who there parents were.

I have found a few newkirk listings in Dekalb co. in the 1880 census.

James F. Newkirk (1844-1914) possibly married Delana Killian
Henry Newkirk (born 1860)
Samuel Newkirk (born in the 1840s?)

But I haven't been able to find out who their children or who Henry or Samuel Newkirks wives were.

Hopefully someone can help because there is a ton of information from the mid 1800s and before,but very little after that.

Nellie E. Jerrell
NOV 25, 2005

Nellie E. Jerrell, 82, of Linton passed away at 9:45 am on Wednesday,
Nov. 23, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital.

Born May 21, 1923 in Knox County, she was the daughter of Francis and
Mae (Elkins) Newkirk.

Survivors include: Ronald Jerrell of Linton; Phillip Jerrell of
Bloomington; Steve Jerrell of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one sister, Mable
Bedwell of Edwardsport; and one brother, Ray Newkirk of Valparaiso.

She was preceded in death by: her husband George Jerrell in 1979; one
daughter, Diane Sue Jerrell; and three sisters, Goldie Rose, Evelyn
Arney and Bessie Newkirk.

Funeral service will at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in
Dugger with the Rev. John Booker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sandborn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, and after 11 am until time
of service Sunday.

I hope someone can help. My Great, Great Grandfather George Newkirk, born 1873, from Lancaster Pa. was married to either Laura E. or Emma L. (I have no maiden name). I was told by family that they were told it was Wesley but I am not sure. They were married in Berks Co. Pa in 1893. If anyone can help with her last name or offer sugestions I would appreciate it.
