Looking for further information or relatives. My great grandfather was John Thomas Newman born abt 1870 and died 1956 in Louisiana. His father appears to have been Marcus Newman, of Osyka, Mississipi and was abt 50yrs old when John was born. Marcus had married John's mother who was a Civil War widow and had one child before she married Marcus. I do not know of John's brothers and sisters - but family belives there's a brother. John married Mildred Strickland then her sister Annie Olivia when Mildred died after having 3 girls - Blanche, Hazel, Mildred jr. With Annie he had - Joseph Charles, John Spencer,Annie Laurie (my grandmother), Robert Reid and Carl Kinnon. The family resided in St Helena Parish, Kentwood, Louisiana. They originally lived on the Powell/ Old Strickland Farm (that came through Mildred and Anna's family) until John lost due to the Depression. There are relatives in Louisiana from this family but I haven't a clue how to find them. If any of these names sound familiar please feel free to email as I check my mail and posts freqently.
