Nichols with its spelling variations is a
very common name. There are over 400 Mass
Nichols entries in the Revolutionary War
records of Massachusetts. My records indicate
there were at least 20 Nichols families in
New England by 1640
I have written a several page paper (copywritten)
on "Colonial Nichols of New England). I'm
afraid it is too big to post here (guidelines
anybody?), but I would be glad to share it
with you or anybody else who is interested in
some general historical information on New
England Nichols families.
My 28000+ data base includes approximately
4000 Nichols entries (quite well documented).I
profess NO knowledge of Nichols families
outside of New England (and to a much, much
more limited extent New York). However, if
your Nichols ancestry prior to 1850 has New
England roots, It's likely I have more info
than anybody else in the world.
