Where are they from? My 2 ggf Joseph b. 1863 m a Katherine MAGEALSON (various spellings) in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, USA. My gf, Joseph Robert b 1888 m Elsie Scheers in Pittsburgh (both deceased).
I have no info prior Joseph b 1863.

MRS. EVALINE H. RIGGS

SALEM, Or. Feb. 7.
One of Oregon’s pioneers of 1850, Mrs. Evaline H. Riggs, 72 years old, died here the first of this week, after an illness of three days. Her body was taken to Salt Creek cemetery, where the funeral services were held, and placed besides that of her husband, who died four years ago. Mrs. Riggs was born in Virginia in 1830, and the family moved to Iowa, and afterward to Oregon. In 1850 her father, John H. Nicklin, settled on a donation claim near Salt Creek, Polk County, where she resided until 1864. She afterward lived in Salem. In 1851 she married Rufus A. Riggs, of Polk County, and six children were born to them, these five surviving: J.B. Riggs, Mrs. M.M. Fleming, Mrs. T. J. Cronise, Mrs. Emma Childs, of this city, and Dr. J.O. Riggs, of Portland. The dead woman is also survived by a brother and sister Dr. T.L. Nicklin, of Portland, and Mrs. Emily Comegys, of Pendleton.

I have found that my Daniel Nicklin's father was Anthony Nicklin. I found his marriage record to Elizabeth Nicklin. I also found that Daniel immigrated to the United States and died in Minonk, Illinois. I'm not sure when he died.

In 2005, I posted a msg concerning my ancestors Joseph Nicklin b. 1863 m Katherine Wagalsan (various spellings but really is MAGILSON) and they had children Joseph, Lilian, Cora, Ida, Laura, Catherine, Elizabeth and Elsie (my gm). As a hobby I pick up identified photos and attempt to locate family to return them to.

I have one of a baby in a long white gown, identified as Myrtle Alice Nicklin. When I was first looking at the writing, I thought it said Nickliss. In looking at it with a magnifying glass-I'm certain it not two s's but an N. The flowing script really makes me think that it's an N.

The photographer was S.H. Wise and in Wilton, Iowa.

I am looking for any info on John & Mary Nicklin who came to Canada in and I have info on them taking a ship with Cap. Bullock of the 41st regement and travelling from Montreal (La Chine) to Kingston Ontario and landing in the Bay of Quinte in August 1815. Does anyone have any info about this. They were travelling with five children.

Since the time this was posted, the author (June Nicklin Zachary) has passed away. She passed away Jan. 19, 2002. Also the people she was looking for have since passed away. Ruby (Whitecotton) Nicklin passed away in Dec. of 2001. Raymond Allan Nicklin passed away March of 2004.

Noticed that the son of Thomas and Maria Dixon, James Nickle Dixon, was spelled James Nicklin Dixon in this census. Now I am pretty sure that James and Phoebe were Maria's parents. I don't yet have documentation to prove such, but this is a step closer to knowing where and who to look at.
Anyone knowing any other Nicklin's in Ontario?
These 2 were born in England. James birth date may be 1798, Phoebe's would have been 1797.

Looking for information on Sophia Chew Nicklin's family. Sophia Chew Nicklin married George Mifflin Dallas 23 May 1816 in Philadelphia. He was Vice President of the U.S. Sophia's father was Phillip Holbrooke Nicklin, born about 1760. Her mother was Juliana Chew born 8 Apr 1765 in Philadelphia, Pa. Would love to find more information on Phillip and his ancestors. I have a lot on the Chew line.

Thanks, i do have a copyof the marriage cert,this would have been his second marriage as he was widowed before he married Jemima,the Jemima you noticed as deceased aged 51 is his wife,she was my grt grt grandmother ,i wonder if the boarder called samuel is indeed him although the age isnt correct i know they did some strange things with ages depending on how old you were at the timeof the census,thanks for your info, are you tracing Niclikns if so and this is a relation get back in touch and we can swop details,i couldnt find any trace of a Samuel Nicklin when i looked ,mustnt have been looking properly

nicklin died in 1880 age 51 but the only Samuel Nicklin in 1881is aged 30 unlessSamuel her husband died between 1873 and 1881.Certificate will have Samuels age and fathers name.

I have now found the missing link! The Josiah Nicklin I mentioned earlier...I have just received his Birth Certificate and Timothy Nicklin was his father and was a locksmith. Hello everyone

I am looking for any information which might be available for the following family.

Thomas James Nicklin born 1852 Preston Lancashire married Alice Rimmer. Thomas and Alice had one daughter Mary Ann Nicklin born 1875 also in Preston, Lancashire. Thomas died when 25 years of age as a result of an accident.

We believe Thomas was the son of Hugh Nicklin and Ann? and had siblings Emiley b 1850 d1851; Catherine b 1854 d 1855; George b 1858, Elizabeth b 1860. Does any of this information look familiar to anyone out there researching the Nicklin name?

Would appreciate any input.

Hi Keith. I live in Wolverhampton and although not a Nicklin by name myself, the Nicklins are my descendants. My great grandfather as Harold T Nicklin who was born 12 Aug 1895 in Wolverhampton St, Willenhall. He married Gertrude Talbot in the 1920s and died in 1969. Any relation?

hello Ian thankyou for your message its Sue note the change to the name tag seems theres more than two of me floating around so have added an initial.My Nicklin is through-'nellie' who is in fact an Edith Ellen - b.1892- died in the 60's; she married Nicholas Nicklin b.1881 who had a brother called Edward who married an Ethel- (no maiden name)(they both died early). I am from Pennsylvania, USA.
My g-g-g-g-grandparents were William Nicklin (b. Oct. 1796) & Francis Moore Nicklin (b. Dec. 16, 1796) of Coverswall, Staffordshire, England and came to America in 1833, leaving one daughter, Eliza (who married Samuel Jackson) in England.
Any relation ?
