I am sorry that I don't have any info. on Elizabeth Nicholson but you have listed 2 names that did catch my attention & hope you don't mind my query. I am actually searching for an elusive Tenner family. A daughter, Mabel Tenner married Arlo Nickolson. Her sister, Ida married William Sirois. I have just learned their married names very recently when I received a copy of their brother, John's obit. in 1959. Both girls were born in ND & in 1930 were in Bayview, Bayfield Co., WI with their parents & siblings. I think Arlo may have died Jan 1954 & William 1981 in Washburn, Bayfield Co., WI (SS death index) I know nothing further of their families. Since you are asking about a Nicholson & your name is Sirois - wondered if perhaps you might belong to either family???? or is this just another of those coincidences? Thanks.

This is exciting to me and I am only married in to the family, I did not know if I would ever get a reply, and especialy the same day. Elisha married a Cooper and they are all burried in the Marble Vally cem. and a family plot called the Cooper cem. I also think I have made a connection to the first family that came here from Scotland. There also were some of the Nickolsons in the early goverment and founding of Alexander city. My mother has this information and I would be glad to share it if you would like. Just let me know and I will get it from her. I also have cemetary books for all of Coosa county, and they were up dated this year. I am going to try and get one from Tallagega as soon as I can since I have gotton this far with my search. Please feel free to e-mail me at lovemycats10@peoplepc.com any time. Yes ,it is a strange address, but I do have 10 cats.
Well, let's see. This started with my attempt to find members of my father's birth family. He was adopted in 1944 and I just got his original birth certificate last year. His birth mother was Annie Lee Skidmore. Her parents were George Lee and Vesia(?)(Nickolson) Skidmore. Vesia's father was Enoch Nickolson - son of Arthur and older brother to Elisha. To the best of my knowledge, Enoch went from Coosa Co. to Talladega Co. to Pickens Co. (1920 Census). His youngest children (Francis & Willie - Elisha's neice & nephew) lived with them at the home of George & Vesia Skidmore. I have attempted to begin a family tree through this site. It provides more detail and is probably easier to follow. This is so exciting to me as I have never known what my background is and I'm finding out more every day!

This sounds really crazy but I just located yesterday a census for 1900 in Talladega for Enoch and his family. then your reply pops up. I had went on line looking again yesterday because I had been talking to my husbands aunt Eloise Easterling, who was a nickolson, the daughter of Lindsey, granddaughter of Elisha. I could not seem to locate anyone past Marble Valley and she said look in Talladega. I also found William and his wife Allie and they had 8 children living at the time of the 1910 cencus. There are alot of Nickolsons its just hard to find them.Could you tell me more about your family? I would love to add them to my information. Thanks and Glad to meet you, Renee Nickolson

Wow. I'm new to all of this so be patient. I am actually seeking information on Elisha's older brother Enoch who would be my g.g.grandfather. Enoch had a daughter named Vesia(?). He and his wife Mary, along with their 2 youngest children Francis and Willie, lived with Vesia and her husband George Lee Skidmore in Reform, AL in 1920. Whew! To make a long story short(er), I am very happy to finally have a living person that I can connect to my family!

The Nickolsons that I am referring to was in the Meramec Springs area between St. James and Steelville, Mo. around the 1860's -70's. That would have been Crawford and Phelps Counties. They seem to have arrived in that area in the 1860's and most were gone by the 1880's. A few died in this area and are buried here.

Hey Cousins! Have ya'll got room for one more? It's kind of sad to see us reintroducing ourselves to each other - especially considering most of us are first cousins and knew each other as children. Gaynelle, Mother told me about Aunt Estelle dying and I was really sorry to hear about it. I was glad Mother and Jake were able to attend her funeral. She is doing well since Daddy died, but it has been an adjustment for her since he has been gone.

For those who don't know me, I am Clifton and Odessa's oldest daughter, Kay.

Now that most of us are on the shady side of 50, I have been doing a lot of family tree research and you just wouldn't believe what's out there, especially on the Burks side. If anyone is interested, let me know at kthompsn@ceva.net. I was looking for info on Elisha Nickolson when I stumbled on this website. Keep in touch and love to you all.

Elisha was my great grandfather, but the only information I have been able to find on him so far was his marriage date to Georgia Cooper on Dec 9, 1893. The dates certainly tie in and there can't be too many Nickolson's in Marble Valley. I suspect there is definetly a connection between our families. I'll keep you posted if I find anything more.
FAMILY FROM INDIANA

I am looking for info. on my grandmother from Indiana. her name was elizabeth pauline nicholson. she married roy othnal greeson and they had a son on january 1,1932. his name was charles robert greeson. she died shortly after giving birth to my father. My dad grew up not knowing any of the family from his mother's side. I just thought there might be someone out there that knows of something about my grandmother. I have only seen one picture of her, which my grandfather told me I reminded him of her. I hate to think that 72 years ago a young woman gave birth to her only child and then dies and now there is no-one left to remember anything about her.

Hi;
I was reviewing some earlier queries I had posted back in 2001 and found you had replied to my Nicholson search. Somehow I missed your reply and hope I can still make contact.
I am at a complete dead end with my investigation about any information. If there is anything you may know that is related to my great aunt after the 1891 disaster I would be just thrilled.
Al McLeod - Calgary, AB

R.Miller,
The possibility of having received incorrect information in the past may have allowed me to follow an incorrect trail..

The connection to Malcolm Nicholson for me is through my MacLeod's that originated in the Margaree Valley. One of my Grandfathers sister was Catherine.
Do you have any information about the background of the Catherine MacLeod you are related to? If there is a chance we are speaking of the same Catherine I can send additional MacLeod names of her brothers and sisters that may help in the clarification.

Thanks for the reply,
Al McLeod
Calgary Alberta
