NICOL, (Jack ) John Ingram
Passed away in January 2002, in Victoria, B.C., in his 87th year. Jack and his late wife Jean retired to Victoria in 1978 after his long and distinguished career in the federal public service, including many years as Director- General of National Parks and Historic Sites. His generosity, warmth, and lively sense of humour are sorely missed by his surviving children and their families. After a private ceremony to inter his ashes in Ottawa, there will be a Memorial Service to commemorate Jack's life and Legacy Service at 2 p.m., May 18 in St. Timothy's Presbyterian Church, 2400 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa. This will be followed by a reception for family, friends and former colleagues at the Hampton Inn, 100 Coventry Road. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Jack and Jean Nicol Memorial Bursary being established at the University of Waterloo for students pursuing studies in parks planning and conservation.
