Hello Dave,

I helped a friend, Barbara, with her Nicoll family and about six months ago, I deleted the information after checking with her first. I have spoken to Barbara and, if you give me your contact email address, she will contact you direct and send you what I had found. Barbara's mother was a Nicoll.

Regards,

Grace

Hi
I've just started doing family hisotry on the internet and came across your post from about 2 years ago. There most definitely is a Robert Nicoll (he's my father in law), born 1915. I've only got back as far as Nellie's father Henry Allford in Fownhope, Herefordshire and am having great difficulty in finding information about Sydney's parents George (b 1843 in London) and Rosanna (b 1846 in Bristol). If you have any information about any of these people, I'd love to hear about it.

Regards

Dave Keech

Leonard Nicoll

Hi all, I'm looking for the parents of Leonard Nicoll c1850 - 1929 born Jamaica, died Sydney,NSW,Australia. His father Nathan Nicoll c1820's and his wife Charlotte Williams c1820's.I'm asssuming that Nathan's of Scottish heritage but could of been born in Jamaica or transported or emmigrated or for work. Charlotte i'm thinking is maybe of a slaves background, hence Leonards dark complection. Of course all this could be conjecture, and story telling. All help would be much appreciated. Thanks Chris.

Hi Dave,

I have been looking at my family tree stuff after a very long period away from it all. I came across your message on my board here at Ancentry.com. Yes I would be most interested in receiving a copy of your Nicoll database. You have no idea how much trouble I have had in trying to find out information for this side of the family. My grandmothers father took off after his wife died of TB leaving the kids to fend for themselves. It is like he just dissapeared, it frustrates me to no end I can tell you that. I am now on a mission to find him what ever it takes lol. All my family tree stuff is now with this email address ( familytiesrickard@hotmail.com ), it was getting too much to try and sort it all out so I had to set up an email address specficially for family tree stuff and nothing else.

I look forward to hearing from you soon in hope that maybe you can help me put together this elsusive family.

Regards, Kym
Hi, I'm doing some searching for a company called G H Nicoll & Co, Dundee. After being given a very old carving knife set by my uncle, The set belonged to his grandfather so must date to the late 1800's. Could be another link for you to follow as this could be your George Nicoll
Regards
Tony

Alice May NICOLL, b. 28 June 1920

I recently found a "Memento and Certificate of Baptism" for Alice May NICOLL, daughter of Arthur J. and Alice NICOLL in an antiques shop in Allen, Michigan. The booklet does not give the place of Baptism, but Allen is in south central Michigan, not far from the Indiana border. According the information provided, Alice May was born 28 June 1920 and baptized 08 December 1920 by Pastor H. G. McCann. The booklet was published by the Methodist Book Concern of New York and Cincinnati so the ceremony probably occurred in a Methodist church. I will be happy to send the booklet to an interested descendant for the price of postage.

Hello Fay:

I saw your posting through Roots Web on William Nicoll. It just so happens I recently came in contact with a relative who was her Grt. Grandfather. He was born around 1847 in Brechin and was a game keeper at Cortachy Castle. Williams parents would of been David Nicoll and Mary Ferrier who were my Grt. Grt. Grandparents.

Kindest Regards
Gail

I am related to a William Nicoll (born 1843) in Scotland and his son my great-grandfather was (born 1870) in Arbroath, Scotland. Coincidence?? I looked at the 1871 census on Ancestry and did not find a William married to a Margaret. More information could be useful.

Re: Francis Nicoll, Albany Co., NY 1793

I have information on Francis Nicoll ......letter from daughter Elizabeth and article on Nicoll Sill House in Bethlehem with cemetery plots in Albany Rural Cemetery. The Nicoll Sill house was passed down to Francis by his father, Renssalaer Nicoll when he died in 1776. Letters date 1782-83. Can find no reference to Island you're referring to but I'm sure there must be a connection. According to brief history I have on house, Elizabeth Nicoll married Maj. Sill from Lyme, Conn in 1785. He was in practice with Aaron Burr. If I come across any other references to Wm Nicoll I will let you know.

I have my maternal great-great-grandfather's Coat of Arms, granted in 1863 by the Royal College of Arms. Donald Nicoll was, at that time, from Oldfields, Acton; this, seems to me, was somewhat west of London. His great-grandson, Alexander Nicoll, MD, my maternal grandfather, was a prominent surgeon in NYC for many years after his service in WW1. Anything you may know about Donald, I'd appreciate your sharing with me!

Alexander Nicoll Gerli
Chapel Hill, NC

Victor M Nicoll of Cass Co Indiana killed in South Pacific WWII

Victor M. Nicoll of Cass County Indiana was killed February 14, 1945, while serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines.

We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life and especially locate any family members still living so we can send them the free photograhs of his grave site and the beautiful memorial in the Philippines.

I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.

http://fizkid.tripod.com/

My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.

If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Zenas5@yahoo.com

Sincerely,

Dave and Apple Dwiggins
San Pablo City, Philippines

Re: Walter Nathan Nicoll

Hi Dick,
It's your sister!
Walter Nathan Nicoll was son of Nathan Richard Nicoll & Emma Oliver m: 14 Sep 1839 in Saint Botolph Without Aldersgate, London City, London, Middlesex, England. They had 5 children ( I have all the data on spouses & children). Emma died in 12/1851 and Walter Nathan married Jane -------
abt 1852, and raided a 2nd family of 4 more children. She was 18 years younger than he, and I cannot find her or the children in the 1871 English Census. My guess is that she divorced him, remarried, and the children went by a new surname, or else they moved out of England. Nathan Richard and his daughter Elizabeth Laura were living with his oldest daughter Emma Nicoll Merritt's family in the 1871 Census for St Leonard, Shoreditch, London, Middlesex, Eng. He remarried for the 3rd time in June 1873, name unknown, and died in West Ham, Essex, London, Eng in July-Sept 1875.

Nathan Richard was son of William John Nicoll 24 Nov 1792 and Ann Watson 19 Jul 1795 of Scotland. They married 03 Sep 1810 in Christ Church, Southwark, London, England and had 6 children.

William John Nicoll was son of Nathan Nicoll and his wife Elizabeth -----------. He was born 02 Dec 1739 in North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland (Edinburgh and Prestonpans areas), but he migrated to London, England before the birth of his children.

Thats as far as I can find so far. Call me for all the extra data I have on this line.
Love, Pam
