WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Elsie M. Nielsen, 89, died Sunday Oct. 8, 2000, at the Lone Tree Care Center following an extended illness.
Services will be at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch. The Rev. Terri Mahnke will officiate. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Barker Funeral Home in West Branch.
Mrs. Nielsen was born Jan. 27, 1911, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Charles A. and Nannie V. Ljunggren Lindberg. She married Hans E. Nielsen June 6, 1936.
She graduated from high school in Oak Park, Ill. in 1929.
Survivors include three sons, Vernon Nielsen and his wife, Jeanette, of Burlington, Jerry Nielsen and his wife, Fusae, of West Branch and Gilbert Nielsen and his wife, Carolyn, of Petersburg, W. Va.; a daughter, Nancy Thompson and her husband, Allan, of Iowa City; a brother, Gilbert Lindberg and his wife, Betty, of West Branch; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans; and three brothers and a sister
