Hello, I'm not sure if you are still searching, but I and looking for some similar info on the LAURSEN name & relations.

My great grandmother's name was HEDVIG HJERMIN LAURSEN (maiden name either Pederson or Anderson) and her husband's name was NIELS PEDER (?) LAURSEN.

Niels Peder Laursen's parents names were OLGA & PEDER NIELS (I think)

Any connection?

I have wondered for many years what happened to my wonderful neighbour of many years Mrs. Nielsen. She was the most delightful lady one could ever know and I am a better person for having had her and her husband in my life when I was growing up. My mother recently passed on this year as well (2009), so hopefully they are together again, rekindling their long and beautiful friendship.

Megan: I was a friend of your father at Fitch from 1955-1959, and I always admired his wit, his intelligence and his sense of good fun. We lost track of one another after high school, but I will always remember his great sense of being part of "all" of us, his levity and the ease with which he cut through most of the academic challenges.

If you have time and the will, please let me know what happened to Chris after Fitch, where he went to college, how and who your mother is and something about you as well (and your siblings).

I was stunned to hear of Chris' passing at the reunion, and I feel remiss for not having tried to contact him before. I want you to know that I respected him and was lucky to be his friend.

Hello Vicki, my name is Gisela, my mom is Daisy Jean Nielsen, his father name was Charles W. Nielsen, he move from Chicago to Panama(Central America) for the construction of the Panama Canal, he was born aprox.around 1880-1886, we never kewn his ancestor but he used to tell us that his family moved from Copennage, Denmark, his father was name was Christopher and Mary Nielsen, don't know much about the rest of the family but he had a sister who name was Elizabeth, pls let me know because we want to find his ancestor too, since we broke any contact after he died in 04/26/1977. PRESTON, Iowa - Thekla Dora Sela Kruse Nielsen, 97, Preston, died March 2, 2007, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Ralph Marquardt of rural New Auburn, Wisconsin.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery, Goose Lake.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston.

Mrs. Nielsen was born August 20, 1909, on the Kruse family farm northeast of Goose Lake in Clinton County, the daughter of Paul Herman and Minnie Frahm Kruse. She married Andrew C. Nielsen on May 4, 1930, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston. He preceded her in death July 4, 1991.

She attended schools in the Goose Lake and Preston areas.

She took a secretarial class to learn typing and also worked as a hired girl. She and her husband farmed the Kruse farm until 1942, when they moved to the Foster place west of Preston. In 1975, they retired to their home in Preston.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Women of the Church and Ruth Circle.

She loved reading, sewing, cooking and especially baking. Most of all, she loved and cared for her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Katharine Pohlmann and husband, Kenneth, of Huntley, Illinois, Minnie Gottburgsen and husband, Martin, of Miles and Dorothy Marquardt and Ralph of New Auburn; a son, Norman Nielsen and wife, Barbara, of Preston; a daughter-in-law, Joan Nielsen of Preston; 18 grandchildren, Kristine Pohlmann Stewart, Ruth Pohlmann Carlson, Luther Pohlmann, Barbara Nielsen Ghaddar, Nancy Nielsen Gonzales, David Nielsen, Andrea Pohlmann, Andrew Gottburgsen, Inge Gottburgsen, Dana Nielsen Hackett, Michael Marquardt, Scott Marquardt, Jan Gottburgsen Ketelsen, Jon Marquardt, Ruth Nielsen, Nicholaus Nielsen, Lisa Nielsen and Laura Nielsen; 31 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Lorena Lindner of Portland, Ore.

Hello, I am looking for my husband's Grand mother's parents in Denmark and having a very hard time of it. His grandmother's maiden is Eriksen. She was supposedly born November 3, 1886 in Denmark, as Johanna Marie Eriksen. immigrated to the USA in 1908? Then married Holman Carlsen of Taars, Denmark in Chicago, IL.in 1911. OR immigrated to the USA in 1911. They had the first son in IL then moved Kenosha WI 1914 where their second son was born that year,and in 1925 their daughter was born here.They remained here until their deaths Johanna's in 1971, and Holman's in 1978. We have a picture of her parents but no names are on it. We have looked everywhere for these name's of her parents so we can trace our families roots back more than the 4 generations here in Kenosha WI. If anyone has any info please help me get started. Nielsen or Nelson in Taylor Falls, Minnesota

My great grandmother is Ella Nielsen born May 7 1870 in Taylor Falls, Minnesota. Her parents are Peter Nielsen and Stina Nielsen, although the spelling is Nelson on Ella's death certificate. Ella had two older siblings born in Denmark and four younger siblings born in Minnesota. I have photos of all siblings but cannot identify them individually. The youngest daughter is Alice with whom Stina lived until her death in 1935. I believe the youngest son was Frank who resided in Shafer, MN for all of his life. The Nielsen family is not listed in any Taylor Falls census records. Any information on this family would be appreciated

My great grandfather was Jens Nielsen/Nelson who arrived from Denmark abt. 1881. After a brief time in Michigan, he and wife (Hanna?) moved to the Wyeville/Shennington area of Monroe Co., Wisconsin and owed a farm. Children were: Arthur Peter (my grandfather, who married Lovica McConnell), Anna Marie(Mary, who married a Quam then Edwin Rich), Carl Olaf and Jensine, who died in infancy. Jen's wife then married a Mads Johnson and their children were: Jens Emil, Herman Lurine, Elizabeth Christiana, Hans Christian, and Johanna. Here are updates that I can add to this list.
Their names were Hans Ludvig Nielsen (born March 13, 1873/died in Nebraska - Plainview/Pierce County on 10/22/1963) and his first wife Hansine Kristine Nielsen -
maiden name Mortensen (born 3/11/1871,died 7/10/1918 in Plainview/Pierce County, NE). Both, I am told, are buried in a place called "Danish Cemetery" in Copenhagen, NE.

When they immigrated to America they brought their four children -

Nicole Christian Misselhorn, the daughter of Hans Jay and Susan (Hawley) Nielsen, was born on September 14, 1983, in Manning, Iowa. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa, on October 30, 1983. Nicole grew up on the family farm south of Defiance, Iowa, where she attended Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla schools and was active in 4-H, LYO basketball, and cheerleading. After graduating from IKM High School in 2002, Nicole attended Iowa State University for two years. She later attended Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Carroll, Iowa, where she received her RN degree on May 7, 2007. She was proud to have passed her nursing boards on August 19, 2008.

On June 16, 2007, Nicole married Jeremy Keith Misselhorn at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan. They made their home in Manilla, and she was employed at the Manilla Manor.

Nicole was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, where she was confirmed on May 3, 1998. She was an active person who loved swimming, spending time around horses, and watching stormy weather. Nicole enjoyed country music and fashionable clothes, and appreciated nice cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Her dog, Taco, was very special to her, and she cherished her family and many friends, to whom she was a true blessing.

Nicole C. Misselhorn died on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 25 years, 4 months, and 8 days.

Nicole is survived by her husband, Jeremy Misselhorn of Manilla, Iowa; her parents, H. Jay & Susan Nielsen of Defiance, Iowa; one brother, Matthew Nielsen of Guam; one sister, Carly Nielsen of Defiance, Iowa; her paternal grandparents, Hans and Joyce Nielsen of Harlan, Iowa; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Norma Hawley of Denison, Iowa; other relatives; and many friends.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa, with Pastor Steve Chellew officiating. Jennifer Perkins served as the organist. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at the Nishnabotna Township Cemetery in Manilla, Iowa. The Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of the arrangements. Lee Helen Nielsen (Patton)b. 1927 and Walter Paul Nielsen. I think Walter's mother's name was Kristine, and he was the only boy and his older sister's name is Oda. Walter came over in 1925 to Detroit MI and the following year, Anna and Jorgen came. My grandmother Lee Helen, wanted me to post to see if any realitives were still around and would like to contact us. My grandfather was Joseph Nielsen. My father was Albert Nielsen and he was taken away from his family in N.Y. because of neglect they say. Joseph worked as a Pile Driver and he had brothers and there were grandparents that came over to N.Y. too. My siblings were Alfred, Alexander, Arnold, Alice and my father, Albert. The oldest which I believe was Alfred was born in Denmark so my father says. The orphanage says they came from Sweden. My father was born in USA 1904 in New York. I believe my parents Joseph and Mary Nielsen were born around 1865 in Scandinavia. Albert was adopted by Carrie and Rufus White in Lexington Nebraska after being transported on the Orphan Trains back to the West.

I am writing this for my husband Walter Nielsen White, his father was Albert Nielsen and he was adopted by Carrie and Rufus White. Albert's wife was Amy Mitchell from Lexington, Nebraska. Walter would like information about Albert's father, Joseph Nielsen and Mary ?. They came to the USA around 1900 and Albert was born 1904 Oct. They were Scandinavian. Albert insisted that they came from Denmark, the orphanage said they came from Sweden. We do not know. We figure that Joseph and Mary were born around 1862 because they had a son born 1885, his name was Alfred (he was adopted by the Calef family in Nebraska). Albert had other brothers and a sister: Arnold b: 1900, Alfred, Alexander b: 1896 and Alice b: 1899. The dates could be incorrect too. The mother was, we think, in the hospital in New York, when a Reverend came and took the children away to the NY orphan Asylum and later they were transported by Orphan Trains to Nebraska where they were adopted. Before Joseph and Mary we have no information, we are just guessing at the birth dates. The grandparents came later with one or two children. Joseph was a Pile Driver. They were Protestants. Mary may have had more children later. We do not know. We are at a dead end, and would love to have more information.

we would be interested to know what was on the certificates. dates, times, ships, etc. My husband's father was Albert Nielsen. Alberts father was Joseph Nielsen and mother Mary. I don't know what Mary's maiden name was. They came to NY and the children were taken away from them and taken on Orphan Trains to Nebraska. Albert was adopted by a nice family by the name of "White". Albert had bros. and a sister. Alexander, Alfred, Arnold and Alice. We think their mother was in the hospital having another baby when they were taken. Maybe the father was out of town on a ship. We do not know.

We have a mystery in our family too. My father was Albert Nielsen and he had 4 bros. and one sister. They came from Scandinavia. Albert's father he said were Joseph and Mary Nielsen. The grandmother came later with some children and Joseph had brothers who came too. Joseph was a Pile Driver. There was a labor dispute and someone was killed? Albert and his siblings were taken by a reverend to the NY Orphan Asylum and sent back West on the Orphan Trains and adopted by families there. While the parents were working, the children played in the street. The authorities came and took them away because of neglect they said. I think Mary was in the hospital having a baby. We have heard different versions of this story. If you can help any. Please let me know. The lived in New York in So Bronx when they were taken.

in 1899 They were living in Los Gatos and appear on the 1900 census. The 1910 census shows Caroline with the 2 children but have not any death information for Sophus. Caroline later remarried to a Gerlefsen.

Added bit of info on little Freddy Nielsen who died 1918. My father told me that my grandmother Esther (Freddy's sister) told him the boy was killed by a goose on their farm.

My name is Heidi Slyngbom. I live in Canada. My parents, Gerhard and Jytte Slyngbom immigrated from Denmark in May of 1957 with three kids - Jeannette, Sonny and Laila (I was born in Canada). My mothers maiden name was Nielsen. My Grandmother Vanda Moller divorced and married Christian Pedersen when my mother and her sister were young. Upon my fathers deathbed we discovered that he had a son prior to marrying my mother. We do not know his name or date of birth other than it was in the early 40's. My parents married in July of 1944

WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Elsie M. Nielsen, 89, died Sunday Oct. 8, 2000, at the Lone Tree Care Center following an extended illness.

Services will be at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch. The Rev. Terri Mahnke will officiate. Burial will be at the West Branch Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Barker Funeral Home in West Branch.

Mrs. Nielsen was born Jan. 27, 1911, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of Charles A. and Nannie V. Ljunggren Lindberg. She married Hans E. Nielsen June 6, 1936.

She graduated from high school in Oak Park, Ill. in 1929.

Survivors include three sons, Vernon Nielsen and his wife, Jeanette, of Burlington, Jerry Nielsen and his wife, Fusae, of West Branch and Gilbert Nielsen and his wife, Carolyn, of Petersburg, W. Va.; a daughter, Nancy Thompson and her husband, Allan, of Iowa City; a brother, Gilbert Lindberg and his wife, Betty, of West Branch; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans; and three brothers and a sister

Emigrated to the USA in 1882 to the St. paul, Minnesota area. Not sure when she died or who she was married to.

My Grandparents Niels & Christine Nielsen settled in Thornton Iowa. My Uncle Christ spelled his last name as Nelson; however, My dad maintained it was Nielsen. Unfortunately I know very little as my parents divorced when I was quite young & my father & paternal grandparents now all dead.
I have a copy of Williams marriage cert & know from that, at the time of his marriage, he was a private in the Royal Tank Corps. Also his father was a Seaman named Henry Bernard Hanson.
The only 'story' I ever heard about him was that he came to England to look for work. I think the rumour was that he was a stowaway, so maybe on a ship his father sailed aboard & maybe that is why Liverpool named as his birthplace on death cert because it was the place the ship docked??

I will keep trying to find out more somehow.
