Joseph "Joe" Nihiser, 90, Logan, Ohio died Monday, Dec. 28 at his residence.

Born Aug. 31, 1908, Hocking County, son of the late Jacob and Lillie May Earnhart Nihiser.
He was the widower of Velma E. Dupler Nihiser, who died Oct. 15, 1976.

A longtime dairy farmer, he retired in 1971 from Carborundum Company.
He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of Hocking Grange and a member of Hocking County Farm Bureau.
He was also a founding member of the St. John Lutheran Cemetery Association and was serving as a trustee for the association.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas J. (Judy) Nihiser of Ringgold, Ga., Robert L. (Penny) Nihiser of Logan, Jay F. (Karon) Nihiser of Logan and Mike (Sherry) Nihiser of Logan; four daughters, Mrs. Dick (Joann) Blauser of Groveport, Ohio, Mrs. Ronald (Catherine) Dennis of Logan, Betty Nihiser of Logan and Mary Colliton of Laurelville, OH; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella Faye Nihiser and Mary Helber, both of Logan.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Jacob Ross Nihiser; a son-in-law, Donald R. Colliton Sr.; two brothers, Ray Nihiser and Harold E. Nihiser Sr.; and four sisters, Zola and Gertie Nihiser, Olive Kornmiller and Goldie Sater.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Hocking County.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.
