RINGGOLD — Thomas “Tom” Nihiser, 66, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born in Logan, Ohio, and resided in Ringgold, Tennessee for the last 14 years, and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force for eight years.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Velma Nihiser; and siblings, Ross and Betty Nihiser.
Tom’s family is ever grateful for Avalon (Trinity) Hospice.
Survivors include his wife, Judy, children, A. J. (Jamie) Nihiser, of Franklin, Tenn., Ricky (Lindsay) Doyal, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Corey (Amanda) Doyal, of Flintstone, Ga., Kadi (Stephen) Justus, of Ringgold; brothers, Jay (Karon) Nihiser, Mike (Sherry) Nihiser, Bob (Penny) Nihiser; sisters, Joann Blauser, Kate (Ron) Dennis, Mary Colliton, all of Ohio; sister-in-law, Sherry (Arthur) Robinson, of Alabama, and his father-in-law and best friend, George Lawson, of Chattanooga.
Tom will be sadly missed by his nine precious grandbabies, Shannon, Breanna, Hunter, Belinda, Tucker, Anslee, Andrew, Evan and Mason.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, in the chapel with the Rev. Eva Knab officiating.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military honors.
Pallbearers will be Charles Brawner, Rickey McNeese, Jason Nihiser, Matt Nihiser, Eric Weaver, Michael Duke, and honorary pallbearers will be Tom’s grandsons.
