Hi,
Here is a list of those known to be buried there.
My Wife's great grandparents are there in marked graves.
We visited the site in 2001 I believe only nine graves have markers.

Thanks much! Ran a cross a 1940 article about Nikkeltown that you might find of interest, can email if you like. Have intended to visit/explore but have yet to make the trip. Klingenbergs are direct line ancestors, G-G'ma Renetta K'berg rests at Nikkeltown cemetery.

Nikkeltown is 8 miles north and 6 miles west of Yates Center, Kansas. The school was still standing in 1997 when I was last there. The cemetery is next to the school to the north.
Only a few of the graves there have tombstones.
Surnames on the tombstones include Bergman, Klingenberg, Nikkel, Remple, Unger and Weil.

Seeking info on Nikkeltown, KS (Woodson County early 1900s), apparently this community no longer exists or has a new name as I’m unable to find this on recent maps. Have been able to locate the site of the Nikkeltown school from the Kansas Historical Society website. Would like to visit/explore the Nikkeltown cemetery in attempt to locate resting place of G-Grandmother. Any info would be appreciated.

Donald “Don” Thomas Nikkel, 78, passed away due to heart failure at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He was a resident of Victorville.
Don was born March 12, 1929, in Shafter. He was the youngest of 11 children, born to Frank and Sarah Nikkel. Don’s life plans were interrupted by the abrupt death of his father when he was 18 years old. After working and supporting his mother for a time, he attended Redlands University. Upon graduation in February 1955, he enrolled in Berkeley Baptist Divinity School, where he went on to graduate in 1957.
Don served 10 years as pastor to the First Baptist Church of Miami, Ariz. He later worked for the county of San Bernardino as a family and marriage counselor and then for the Department of Children’s Services. He was a member of Victorville Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of San Bernardino, Al Malika Shrine and High Twelve Association. He served as statewide president of High Twelve in 2006.
Don and his wife, Norma, enjoyed traveling in their RV and keeping in touch with family and friends via e-mail. Don loved life, a good laugh, his family and his many friends. He left us for life eternal on Nov. 18, 2007.
Don is survived by his wife, Norma; eight children, Paul, Sherie, Allen, Lyla, Jim, Dana, John, Rick and their spouses; 17 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Victor Valley Mortuary, 15609 11th St., Victorville. Services will follow at noon. Victor Valley Mortuary is handling arrangements.

If anyone has any information on Johann NIKKEL who married & Magaretha (WIEBE) NIKKEL, I would be happy to make contact. Johann and Magaretha had 8 children that I know about, ranging from 1887 (in Russia) to the last one in 1902 (in Manitoba, Canada). Names in this family are Katharina, Johann, Gerhard, Helena, Elisabeth, Peter, Cornelius. I have lineage going forward, but was wanting more information on siblings and ancestors. Thanks

Do you know who Katherines parents are?
I have a Margaretha Seimens married ?Peter? Nikkel
they had 4 daughters, Katherina bn 1867, Margaretha bn 1869, Sarah bn 1872, Maria bn. 1873. all in Russia.
Mr Nikkel died before they traveled to the US. she was a widow travelling on the Vaderland (ship):

I am looking for info on a Margaretha Nickel/Nikkel born 1868 and married Abram Janzen in 1889 Cottonwood Cnty., MN. I found a Margaretha Nikkel born to Margaretha Siemens and Peter Nikkel on the Grandma3 CD is this the same Margaretha? It stated that Peter & Margaretha had 4 children; Margaretha b: 10/15/1868, Katharina b: 3/16/1867, Sara b: 8/18/1871& Maria b: about 1873 (died young).

Hello! My grandfather (not gr. grand) Johann Plett's, second marriage to Katherine Nikkel, was in 1881 in Cottonwood, MN. They were Mennonites from Molotschna, Ukraine & moved on to Oregon & Washington, where they had 7 more children, my father being the youngest.
Could be that we are related. I'm very interested in learning about Katherine's ancestry.

My father John (Johannes) P. Nikkel married a Agnes Boese February 20, 1901 at Cordell, Okla. He was born 6/5/1879 in the small settlement town of Nikkeltown, Woodson County Kansas. He died 12/24/1954 in Corn, Washita County, Okla.

Jacob Nikkel married 2x #1 Margaretha Siemens, #2, Susanna Heppner. He married both in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. He had 12 children between the two marriages,
Jacob and Margaretha had Sarah, Jacob, and Peter.
Jacob and Susanna had Johann, Susanna, Diedrich, Erdman, Abraham, David, Maria, Cornelius, and Helen.
Margaretha was married prior to Jacob and she had 2 daughters, Katharina and Margaretha Nikkel

Jacob was bn Feb 10, 1855 in Russia and died abt 1910. Cottonwood or Watonwan County Minnesota.
