Looking for Canadian Nimmos

I am having a lot of difficulty finding records on the Nimmo family in Canada. They lived in Ontario in the 19th century. Some names if anyone can help are:

My great grandfather, George Douglas Nimmo b. 1879 in Ontario. He had a first marriage with several children before he married my grandmother Laura Graham. I cannot find any info on the first marriage.

His father I believe was Robert Nimmo, born in Scotland, emigrated to Canada at some point.

Anyone know anything about these guys or their relatives?

Hazel "Bernice" (Huard) Nimmo
NIMMO Hazel "Bernice" (nee Huard) November 19th, 1930 - April 8 2008. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Bernice will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jack of 56 years, her 3 children Doug (Jana), Sharon (Norm) and her youngest daughter Lori, her 6 grandchildren Tim, Sharon, Brad, Nick, Matt and Michelle and her little companion Chicklet. Bernice lived her life with passion, whether curling, golf, watching hockey, listening to a football game on the radio, or coming out and cheering on her grandkids. Mom could do it all those things at the same time! Everyone knew how much she loved her sports, but most of all she loved her "Lovey" - Jack! Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass on April 17th, 2008 at 10:30am at St. Michael's Church, 9387 Holmes St., Burnaby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Association.
Eli Nimmo / Sarah Beckerdite / Mary Tracy - Dallas County MO

I have hit a road block on what happened to Eli Nimmo and his first (Sarah Beckerdite) and second wife (Mary Tracy).
After the 1870 census the seem to disappear. Other than Eli marries Mary in 1873. Then I find nothing. One of Eli's and Sarahs daughter shows up in the 1880 census living with Sarah's brother John Beckerdite. But, I've yet to locate a cemetery or any record of her parents past 1870.

Dates and records below as I have them.

Eli E. (or W.) Nimmo (son of JAMES NICODEMUS5, JOHN4, ROBERT3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1844 in Dallas County, Missouri. He married (1) SARAH BECKERDITE, daughter of ALEXANDER BECKERDITE and ABIGAIL DELAPP. She was born Abt. 1843 in Loavis County, KY, and died Bet. May 1872 - Jul 1873. He married (2) MARY E. TRACY 03 Jul 1873 in Dallas County, Missouri. She was born 1845 in Missouri.

Notes for ELI W. NIMMO:
Living in Dallas County, MO 1870 Census

Children of ELI NIMMO and SARAH BECKERDITE are:
i.	NANCY E. J NIMMO, b. May 1870.
ii.	MARY ELIZABETH NIMMO, b. 16 Aug 1872, Dallas Co., MO; d. 14 Nov 1911, Dallas Co, Mo.

MARY ELIZABETH NIMMO born 16 Aug 1872 in Dallas Co., MO, and died 14 Nov 1911 in Dallas Co, Mo.

Married MOSES "TILLEY" ARTILLUS JOHNSTON 21 Jul 1889 in Dallas Co, Mo,

Notes for MARY ELIZABETH NIMMO:

1880 Dallas County Census indicates she is listed living with John Beckerdite family -- her uncle.

Mary Elizabeth Nimmo death certificate lists Eli Nimmo and Sarah Beckerdite as parents.

Burial: 15 Nov 1911, Mt. Olive Cemetery, Dallas County, Mo

Lookup please: Annie B. NIMMO, marriage 1941-48?

Hello
My Grandmother's Brother's Daughter was Annie B. Nimmo and she was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, during 1923.

The likely years of marriage for Annie would have been between 1941 and 1948. It is thought Annie grew up in the Cheshire/Lancashire region, but moved away later. Her father was William Nimmo (born in Glasgow) and her mother was Alice (nee Laird). William and Alice had married during 1922 in Glasgow.

Could someone in Britain please perform a marriage lookup for Annie B. Nimmo? Unfortunately, I do not know who Annie married, nor the county in Britain. As I live in New Zealand, the info is difficult to find.

Please contact me by email on: vabukori@yahoo.com

Thank you

David Little

I am looking for any help or information on the NIMMO family who originated in Union County, Illinois in 1861 and lived there through the 1880 Census. Details:

John W. NIMMO (b.~1835, IL) [John's parents were from Virginia and Kentucky]. John W. married Rachel Matilda HENSON in Union County, IL, November 21, 1861. Rachel (b.~1842, TN).

John W. NIMMO and Rachel M. HENSON had the following children all born in Union County, Illinois:
-Robert P. NIMMO (1863)
-Mary J. NIMMO (1869)
-John W. NIMMO (1872)
-Unice A. NIMMO (1874)
-Andrew J. NIMMO (1877)

This family is in the 1870 Census of Anna Twp., Union County, Illiois; and the 1880 Census of Anna Twp., Union County, Illiois. They go missing 1900-1930.

Rachel Matilda's siblings went various directions by 1900, including Pierce County, Washington; Randolph County, Arkansas; and Shannon County, Missouri. These areas have not turned up the right NIMMO family and I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
nimmo ancestory

Looking for Nimmo Ancestory concerning Benjamin Franklin Nimmo he was born in either Virginia or Kentucky and died in either Witchta Falls, Tx or Henrieta Tx. It is believed that they are listed on the Cenus when they come here on approximately 1850's maybe the 40's. Benjamin is the father of Aurthur Grant Nimmo who is my grandfather on my mothers side. Her name is Elizabeth Ann Morgan Nimmo. She attended College in Banquete Tx and married Leonard Herbert Morgan. Her mothers name is Audry/Audrey Nimmo and passed away in Oct. 1974.
It is my understanding that Isaac Nimmo is kined to Benjamin Franklin Nimmo. Who was called or went by B.F. Nimmo. Isaac Nimmo started the Old Settlers Reunion in Henieta Tx., Clay county. It is also believed that he was a friend of Quanah Parker son of the famous Cynthia Ann Parker. He is also known for living two lives. One as the last Commanche Chief and warrior. The other as a true diplomat. John Nimmo is Benjamin Franklins' father and was born Feb. 15, 1844 Springfield, MO. Died Mar 8, 1906 Elsinore, Ca. It is my understanding that he had a son named Isaac Nimmo which, is my mothers great-grandfather. My mothers grand-dad was named Benjamin Franklin Nimmo who is believed to be born in the 1880's (if I wrote the information down correctly.)
I would appreciate any information I can get. So, I can complete a family tree for my mother and her side of the family.

Sincerely yours,

Glenna McKinley

Thomas Nimmo married Jeanie Binnie of Muiravonside, Scotland.

My Grandmother, Agnes Baxter Emslie NIMMO was the daughter of Thomas Nimmo and Jeanie Binnie. Thomas was a Railway Guard we believe. The Binnie people are from the Muiravonside area of Scotland. I would like to make contact with any descendants of brothers of Thomas Nimmo or Jeanie Binnie. My Grandmothers brothers and sister went to Canada around 1922, and unfortunately, have died out, so I am searching the previous generation to find any descendants still in Scotland or around the world.
My Grandmother Agnes married William John Little in Edinburgh during 1922 and she lived at Abbeymount and Meadowbank the rest of her life. Any info much appreciated.

Greetings,

I am a descendant of the late Mary Nimmo; her husband was the late Francis (Frank) B. Walker. My father is their adopted son. I am looking for any and all information in relation to his adoption as little information exists with CAS. My father was born on or around November 30, 1932, and was baptised as "John Whitby" as he was found on a doorstep on New Years' Eve 1932 in Whitby, Ontario. He is now 70 years old and retired, and has been anxious to know his heritage/background for some time. In fact, we are all interested in any and all information you may be able to provide. Please be in touch if you can be of assistance.

Nimmo in Ayrshire, Scotland

I am researching my gggg-grandfather Robert Nimmo and family from Auchenblaine, Kirkoswald parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Robert married Jean Nimmo (a cousin?) in 1756 and died in 1806. He had several daughters including Agnes, Abigail, Jean, Helen and Charlotte. Abigail married David Ramsay in 1787. Agnes married John Key in 1788. Charlotte married John Ramsay in 1805. The name Key later became Kay.

Another Robert Nimmo, also from Auchenblaine, was buried at Kirkmichael, Ayrshire. Janet Nimmo, who I guess was his daughter, was also buried there with her husband Thomas Stewart. They married in 1744. The gravestone reads as follows:

Here lyes the corps of Janet Nimmo 29.3.175(?4) age 25, she was bu(?ried) hier, husband Thomas Stewart late in Kilmor, . . . . (illegible) Robert Nimmo, Auchenblain, beloved & also much lamented in death. Also the corps of Alexander Stewart her son died 22.11.1751 5 years. Also other three sons of said Thomas Stewart and Janet Cowan his spouse.
(On the west side) In Memory of Mr Robert & William Stewart, sons of the late Thomas Stewart late in Killmor . . . . . . (illegible) Killmor, merchant in Jamaica and died the . . . (illegible)

If you have any information about the Nimmos, please contact me.
Nimmo Family

As I recall, from what I was told when I was a little girl, that my father, William Loren Nimmo had a sister, perhaps two sisters. The information that I do recall, is that my father was in fact adopted. Apparently he grew up somewhere around Asheville, North Carolina. I believe one of his sisters' name was Gladys. My father was in the marine corp. until his death in 1963. My mother never remarried. She has recently passed away.
