Niswongers from Missouri

Have come a long way with my family tree in the two weeks that I started. Have gotten a lot of help and met some nice people too. I am currently stuck with where the niswongers came from before Missouri in 1800. It is documented that Joseph Niswonger Sr. was the first NISWONGER in Missouri. I have seen references to his father and that he came from Switzerland and was born in the 1690's. Does anyone know this for sure? Did he have brothers or sisters? When did he come to america? Any records of him? I have seen Joseph's fathers name as Ulrich NEIGHSWONGER/NEIGHSWONGER and some called him George Christopher NISWONGER. I am stuck at this person.
Thanks for any help.
Paul NIswonger
NISWONGER, Daniel Gabriel born 1834; OH

Trying to locate a Daniel Gabriel NISWONGER whose father was Nicholas NISWONGER; mother may have been Lucinda BOYD; only problem with that is Nicholas was married to his first wife, Leah SHAFFER, at that time. Lucinda was his 2nd wife. Supposed to have been born Nov. 13, 1834 in Darke Co., OH. Later moved to Michigan. Am researching the BOYD line. Very difficult family to trace. The Lucinda I am trying to trace had a brother named Gabriel and thus am interested in this Daniel Gabriel; maybe the dates given to me were wrong. Would appreciate any help. The books published on the NISWONGER name has not been of any help to me. I don't believe all the information are in them; appear to be conflicting number of children for the wives.
Thanks for any assistance.
Carolyn at the email address of: DavidOF@wesnet.com

Looking for info on PA Nisewonger/Nicewonger

My maiden name is Nicewonger and I was born in Huntingdon County, PA, but lived in Blair County most of my life and moved back to Huntingdon County recently.

My dad's name is Donald Lee Nicewonger, b. 2/17/1942, only child of this couple, but has half-sibs. He is married to Susan Lou Heffner b. 7/17/1942.

His father is Lee E. Nisewonger b. 8/14/1923 d. 6/21/1985. He lived most of his life in Canton, OH, but my father was born in either Huntingdon or Blair County, PA. His mother is Milda Russell d. 1983/4. Her family is from Blair County, PA.

Lee's father's name is Lee, but I haven't a clue as to the spelling of his last name and last I heard he had lived in/about Bellwood, PA until he died. He was married to a woman named Elda, maiden name unknown.

I do know I am related to several other Nicewonger's that live in/about Blair County, PA.

Other Nicewonger's I know are distant relations are:

Alma D. Nicewonger b. 9/15/1916 d. 8/3/1992
Andrew I. Nicewonger b. 9/30/1916 d. 8/1988
Clarence W. Nicewonger b. 5/29/1919 d. 11/24/1993
Raymond Nicewonger b. 6/15/1914 d. 5/1985,
all of which lived in Duncansville, PA. I grew up in East Freedom, PA about 5 miles from Duncansville. Possibly I am also related to Charles Niswonger lived in Duncansville b. 2-9-1918 d. 7-1986.

I have a brother and a sister, Richard Lee Nicewonger b. 4/18/1963 and April Dawn Nicewonger b. 8/4/1977. My maiden name is Kimberly Lee Nicewonger and I was born 1/1/1967.

This is all the info I can get about my maiden name as shortly after my dad's birth, his parents divorced and that was that. So any help on tracing my maiden name back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Religious Affiliation of Omer H. Niswonger

I am doing research on the religious affiliations of my family as far back as possible. I am the son of Charles Daniel Niswonger, grandson of Chester D. Niswonger, and great grandson of Omer H. Niswonger from Cape Girardeau County Missouri. He was born in 1894 and died in 1979. He was married twice, first to Mae Margaret Grieb and then Anna Grice. I know the Niswonger Church, outside of Jackson, MO on hwy 72, is somehow connected to my family. Also, did one of our ancestors in this region own slaves and was killed in a fire? I have been told that this was so. Any information on these things would be great! Thank you.

Jaco and Christina Simpson/Jaco, Louisa Jane's daughter's name was written inside the front cover, her name was Reva Johnson. These may be pictures of Niswongers as the album passed down through the hands of Carrie L.
have and need info.

My gradfather was LeRoy S. Niswonger. Born in PA. in 1904. I am searching for any information about him,his siblings, and/or children he may have had after my father. My grandparents were divorced in the late 1920's. However hey were married in Ohio in 1925.
NOTE FOR NISWONGERS** my research has found that ALL spellings are related. That the origianl name was rather long and coul not be pronounced by many. Fenetic speelings became known.
PA NISWONGERS**many deaths in PA back in the late 1800's and again in the 1920's were the result of floods. Which explains why many of us search for people for this time and place.
Thank you for reading this. My e-mail address is Blueora@hotmail.com
(Please put "Niswonger" in the subject line, thanks :-))
