Mr. Ronald Glenn Nix, 54, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Sunday May 25, 2008, at his residence following a period of declining health. Ronald was born on Sept. 17, 1953 in Burke County to the late Robert Glenn Nix and Mary Evangeline Wycoff. He was a member of the United Christian Ministries in Asheville and was formerly employed as an electrician. Mr. Nix was an avid fisherman who loved being outdoors, and had many friends and loved ones who will miss him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mitzi Denise Pennington. Survivors include one daughter, Glennie Lail and husband, Michael, of Lenoir; three sons, Shane Yount and wife, Tonya, of Hickory, Charles Yount and wife, Tammy, of Valdese and Franklin Nix, of Asheville; three brothers, Larry Nix, Bobby Nix and Robert Gladden and one sister; and eight grandchildren, Amber Nicole Edwards, Christopher Shane Yount, Joshua Yount, Casey Glenn Robinson, Derrick Baylee Robinson, Makayla Erica Yount, Aaron Eller and Kelly Eller. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with the Rev. Larry Nix officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorials may be made to the family and sent to P.O. Box 1341, Icard, NC 28666.
