Re: Noah family in the UK

I have tried to research my Noah family. My grandfather was Arthur Noah (1890-1948) born in Chelsea and married to Mary Jane Campbell. My great grandparents were Francis Anthony Noah (B 1867 in Berhamstead)and Maria Jane Owen (B 1863 in Marylebone). They married in 1885 and lived in London. He abandoned the family and went to find gold in south Africa (where family rumour had it he had a second family in Peitermarisburg).

Francis father was a William Noah (about 1838-1878) born in Northchurch, Hampshire and married to Sarah Ann (about 1838) from Bushey. William & Sarah had 6 children including Francis. The older ones were born in Berhamstead & the younger ones in London. She returned to Herts when he dies.

In 1841 census William aged 3 is living with a James Gewer (b.about 1816) & Elizabeth Gewer (b.about 1821) in Berkhamstead. This did not make much sense and there were more than 1 William Noahs in the area. However Williams first child was called Cornelius Gewer Noah (born 1863) with Francis Anthony Noah the second son. Given the Gewer name being used for the eldest son, I wondered if William Noah had been 'lent' to the Gewers to take care of and was really born to Noahs in Northchurch, Hampshire.

Thats as far as I got. Not sure if this links with your research at all but if you are still looking into it then get in touch and I can add any more I have.

I have very little Noah info other than the names as they appeared in a Caldwell family tree that I found in my father's attic. Since most of the tree concerned Caldwells, the Noah part of the tree does not go very far. Mostly I am looking to fill in dates for the Noah's listed in my last post.

My Great Great Grandfather, William Caldwell, married Sarah Jane Beatty and probably lived in the Butler County PA area during the middle 1800's. One of Williams children, Martha (1850-1930), married Peter Noah. Their children were Lulu, Anne, John, and Lynn Noah.
I would like to know more about my Caldwell family through the Noah family
Anyone with these connections please reply.

Noahs at Kinsey Cemetery, Butler Cnty MO

I appreciate the photos that have been sent showing burial sites in various cemeteries. Thank you.
Relative to that, I also obtained images of the burial sites of my g-grandfather, F.L. Noah, g-grandmother Mary E. Stout, and grandfather James Edward Noah at the above subject Cemetery a few years ago. Will provide them soon.
Meanwhile, I have a question for anyone willing to respond:
I wrote a letter to one of the individuals listed as contacts on the signboard of the Kinsey Cemetery some years ago, after my visit there (near Harviell), but received no response. My mission at the time was to find out if any more gravesites are available.
Since then, I have realized that I should have examined neigboring grave markers for additional family links. Now I would like to obtain a list of individuals buried there. I believe there might be Stouts, Spoons and more direct ancestors there. Anyone have a suggestion on how to do that, considering the fact that I received no response to my initial letter?
Greetings fellow searcher: Have you already checked the Noah surname on other genealogy sites? There's a plethora of Noah, Noe, Noa information on several sites, including info about Noe, Noa, Noahs out of PA. Clearly, at least three Noahs from Europe spread out through PA, VA, NC, SC, TN, MO, OK, TX, etc., even some in OR and WA, perhaps elsewhere. I have info, but don't want to duplicate what you might already have. So far, it appears my European ancester was Peter Noe, but it is not certain because my great-grandfather F.L. Noah b. Aug. 27, 1850 might have been an illegitimate child (thus I am stymied). He was taken in by the Edison Noah family in Alamance Co., NC. Later he married in Obion, TN Mary E. Stout b. July 24, 1855; they both died Butler Co. MO. Try the Bobby Randall Rich Family Tree on familytreemaker.geneaology.com

I've been inactive for about six years. Now looking to solve birth mystery of Florentine L. Noah aka F.L. Noah, my great-grandfather. My information indicates that he might have been an illegitimate child who was taken into the family of Edison Noah who married Margaret "Peggy" Fox about 1856. Edison's father was George Noah 1/17/1790, first wife Mary "Polly" Nease, but it seems he had another wife, Wiley Neese/Nease? Haven't found a record of birth for Florentine or a census indicating a certainty of parentage. Did find a confusing listing of mother known as Elizabeth Noah, no father listing.
F.L. is buried at the Kinsey Cemetery alongside his wife Mary Ellen (Stout) Noah in Butler County near Harviell Missouri. That's where I got his birth and death dates.
Have other info if anyone wants to share.

I've been inactive with my search for about six years. Ready to start again. My last search ended with locating the burial sites of my great-grandparents F.L. Noah and Mary Ellen (Stout)Noah in the Kinsey Cemetery, Butler County, just southwest of Poplar Bluff MO. Also have a copy of Mary Ellen's 1944 probated will listing Noah sons John W., Joseph C. and Jesse F.: a daughter Ollie (married to a Franks),grandson Elvis E. (my father) along with granddaughters with married names of McDaniel, Rowden, Sheedy, Gayle, Leer and another grandson with surname of Ladd.
Do any of those names fit into your "tree"?
