Noah genealogy
My family, the Noah's, settled in Marysville, Iowa during pre-Civil war days. In the early 1800's, Serring Noah married Jane Bogartus from Holland or France. They had a son named Sern, he married a woman named Ferguson and they had five children. The children were Bill Noah, John Noah, May Noah Barnes(settled in Lovilia, Iowa), Jane Noah Hughes (who had a son named Montgomery), and my great grandfather, Jonah Noah (born between 1858 and 1865). Jonah Noah changed his name to Jonah Noe in 1885 when he married Teressa Isabella Dennison. They had ten children: Earl, Pearl, Goldie, Leo, Babbins, Joseph, John Lawrence, David Albert (my grandfather), Harry James, and Jay William. Earl, Babbins, and Joseph died as children. They later moved to Korty, Nebraska, Oelrichs, SD, and Bassett,NE in 1905. They also helped establish the post office at Rose, NE and Longpine, NE.

Would any of these names be part of your family history? If so, please contact me.

Charles and Ann Noah

I am looking for information on Charles Noah (b. 15 Apr 1837 in Ohio d. 12 Oct 1917 in Missouri). I have information about Charles' family, just nothing before him. I would like to know who his parents were.

Also, a little mystery has cropped up regarding Ann. The Green Hills Pioneers for Livingston Co, Missouri, lists Charles' wife as Ann Mariah Lugenbeal. However, a family tree that I have lists her as Ann Mary Hooten. I cannot find any real documentation (census from before marriage, birth record, etc) for either name. It's odd, because I have pictures of this woman, and lots of info for after she was married, but I cannot confirm her name.

I would really appreciate any information that anyone has to clear up this little mystery.

I am searching for info on a fellow by the name of Anus Bogartus (spelling is suspect.) I have little to go on - other than the name my mother told me about. From what I can understand he would have been living sometime between the early pilgrims and 1800 - - but most of what I think is a guess. It's possible that the Shear/Bogartus names are somehow connected.

Bessie Noah b. 1896 d. 1960, Native American, Canada

I am looking for information on the family tree of my great-grandmother, Bessie Noah. I'm not sure if Bessie is her given name at birth or if perhaps her name would Elizabeth or Isabel and called Bessy for short. I believe her to be of Chippewa/Ojibwe/Ojibwa/Anishinabe and Blackfoot Indian heritage. She lived in Middlemiss, Ontario and is buried in the cemetery in the Indian Reserve of Moravian No. 47 near Sarnia, Ontario (sometimes called Moravian Town). Her parents were John Noah b. 1842 d. 1924 and Margaret Green b. 1843 d. 1949. I believe her to have a brother named Daniel and a sister named Ruth who married a man named Clarence (last name unknown). Bessie had a daughter, Margaret C. Fisher (Beaulieu) who is my grandmother. Bessie married Clifford Fisher after the birth of Margaret. Margaret's father is listed on her birth certificate as Williams Williams but everything about him is a mystery. She came to Michigan to have Margaret at Florence Crittenton Hospital and returned to Canada. I believe she may have worked for a doctor in the Detroit area for a while...unsure if she lived in Michigan while working there or commuted across the Ambassador Bridge. If you have any information on this branch of our family tree, it would be greatly appreciated.

Jacob Kinney Noah/ Lucien B. Noah family

I was wondering if anyone of you know the full name of Jacob Kinney Noah's eldest son by Amanda Walker? I know him to be Austin Noah but I am trying to see whether or not that is his first or middle name.

Austin is reportedly the father of my great grandmother, Amanda Priscilla Noah Hiatt. I have a copy of a warrant for his arrest on the charges of fortification with Amanda's mother, Louise Elizabeth Adelaide Clark in October, 1874. He was not to be found within the Daviess Co., MO county limits at that time so the warrant was served on Louise who was picked up and taken to jail. The charges were later dropped.

Austin was the father of 3 daughters by Louise and according to Louise's obituary; they were married in Feb. 1871. However, I've never been able to find a marriage record and her obit contained some other inaccuracies. It doesn't matter whether Amanda is legitimate or not-- but the charge of fortification was something that was only made for those who had sex outside marriage at that time. The 2nd encounter and subsequent charges resulted in Austin's second daughter, Margaret and about 1876 or 78, his last daughter Emma was born.

Jacob served as administrator to one of Louise's niece's estate and upon his death, his brother Lucien took over the job of administrator of the estate.

Louise and her family also lived in Sheridan township, Daviess Co., MO, having moved there about 1864 from Harrison Co., MO. Her brother, John Lewis Clark married Harriet E. Noah in 1874 or so, the daughter of George Nelson Noah so there was lots of interaction between the families.

Can anyone help me out at all with this?

Thanks in advance!

Beverly Clark
I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

Noah family in the UK

I am researching the NOAH surname. Arthur Noah was born in Berkhampstead in Hertfordshire, England in 1886. I have found out from looking at census records that he was the second youngest of 11 children. His father’s name was William Noah (b.1844) and he was born in Ley Hill which is just outside of Chesham in Buckinghamshire. His wife’s name was Hannah and I think her maiden name was Puddephatt.

Williams father’s name was Joseph (b. about 1817?) and his mothers name was Elizabeth (né Scott). I have found quite a large number Noahs in UK census records, the BMD index and the IGI with connections to either Chesham or Berkhampstead as well as a larger number in other places in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire as well as Bedfordshire and London.

I would be happy to share any information I have with anyone who is researching the Noah surname (and of course receive any information they may have). At the moment I am trying to establish the connection between Joseph Noah and his family and other Noahs in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

By the way I am in the UK. I am aware that the surname exists in the United States and elsewhere but so far I have not established any connection (although I would be happy to hear from any Noahs outside the UK who think they may have British ancestors)
Noahs from Lincoln Co., TN

I need help with a brick wall. Unknown Noah (b. TN) married Catherine Unknown (b. abt 1810- d. 1874) abt. 1825 they had 10 children:
Alexander (1827)
Sarah (1832)
John (1834)
Pleasant D. (1836)
Frances (1836)
Nancy (1838)
Thomas Jefferson (1842)
Willam Robert (1844)
Joseph (1844)
Delitha Ann (1850)
Catherine and children appear in the 1840, 1850, & 1860 Census. The husband does not appear in any census, but she continues to have more children with each new census. I was told that if the husband (Noah) was a native american, he would not be listed with his family. Catherine's maiden name might be Gillespie because that is the middle name of her first son, Alexander. If anyone can help me with this family, please take the time to make contact.
Noah's in Missouri

I am looking for more information on my family in Missouri. I know that my great great grandparents are Jesse J Noah and Margaret Elizabeth Hogan. They married sometime in 1877 I think.

My grandparents are William Martin Noah who married Norah Neal Miller. They divorced and she then married Dyles Moore.

I am looking for information on the children of either of the above. As far as I know, only one child of Nora and William is alive. Her name is Sarah and she lives in Texas somewhere. Unfortunately she doesn't remember much.

I believe I have relatives who lived in or near Wichita for a time in the 1920's and 30's. My grandfather and one of his sister's moved to the Omaha area in the early 1930's.

Any info would be greatful!!

Nancy

His wife Mary's father might have been Frank Stout b. 1827 N.C, her mother Mary E., b. 1829 N.C. Frank & Mary had 8 other children: Nancy C., b. 1854-55 N.C. (she might have been a twin to Mary), George W., b. 1859 N.C., Nathan A., b. 1863 TN., Ulysses S., b. 1865 TN, Sarah A., b. 1867 TN, James F., b. 1869 TN, Elizabeth C., b. 1871 TN, Jessie A., b. 1875 TN: It appears Frank & Mary Stout might have moved from N.C. to Obion County TN between 1859-1863; 12 years prior to the marriage of their daughter Mary to Florentine L. Noah in Obion Cnty TN.

I am looking for information on relatives in MO. My grandfather was born in St. Joseph, MO in 1906 to William Martin Noah and Norah Neal Miller. William Martin's parents were Margaret Hogan and J. J. Noah (possibly Jesse Jasper). I found a J. J. Listed in the 1880 census for Harrison County, MO (Bethany) with 2 children listed at that time. Any information to help would be appreciated.

Wilbur, TC, Norman and Opal. He move to Lampasas, TX and married my Grandma, Gladys Ballard. They had a set of twins, Travis Sr. and Wayne. I saw a post in another Noah forum from someone named Regina Noah-Frasher that said she was TC's daughter. I cant seem to find her anywhere.
I would like to know if anyone has any information regarding the NOAH name. My Grandfather is from OK. and has indian in him. He had lots of brothers and some of them moved to Austin/Ft. Worth texas during WW2. He had 2 sons, twins, my father and uncle. Wayne is my uncle, Travis is my father. I know this side of the family but was told by my grandfather that his brothers had some rather unruly kids that made shine and were rather seedy characters. I was told it is not a good idea to contact them. Well, from what I know, they still live in texas. By great grandmother died there at 94yrs old. My grandmother is from Alabama, her name is gladys. She had 3 sisters, Francis was one of them. Dont know much more than that. If you want to know about my sister and brother just email me. Maybe I can help you where you help me. Thank you.

Not sure how many children they had, but my grandmother's name was Nelda Mae Volentine. From what my dad tells me, Albert and Mary came over from Germany. Not sure if this is the case or not, but that is what he thought. Not sure when they died, but I know their daughter, Nelda, died at an early age. My dad was only 12 I think - and he is 52 now.

Would appreciate any info.

Thanks, Randi

I am searching for my birth parents. My Father's name was Jesse W. Noah. My Mother's name was Mary (possibly Velma). They were married Oct. 18, 1943. I was born in Wilson N. Jones Hospital, Sherman, Texas Sept. 4, 1944. I believe I have a sister 3 years older than me, by the name of Jane (Janie). I believe my Mother may have been of American Indian descent. My Father worked for General Tire. I also believe I have a half brother, but do not know his name. My Mother's family lived in Oklahoma and I believe after they left Texas they settled somewhere in Oklahoma. Any information will be helpful. TIA

If anyone could please help me to find a John Noe or Noah. He is the father of Bertha P. and Howard Noe or Noah. His wife was Susan Watson. Susan died when Howard (youngest child) was still a baby. They lived around the Rutledge, TN area. John had a brother Bill and Sister Elmeida (?spelling). Not sure of other siblings. My Grandmother says Elmeida (?) spelled her last name as "Noe." Bertha P. was born 1898, and was older than Howard. Bertha was my Great-Grandmother. She spelled her last name as "Noah." Any info or hint would greatly be appreciated.

Washington County Noahs

My information shows Samuel Noah lived in Washington County, PA during the 1860 census. His son John Lee Noah was the father of Lee Archer Noah, my grandfather. I have a bible page that shows John L and his children, plus some of the next generation, with birth/marriage/death dates.
