I wonder if anyone out there is related to the above couple.
My link with them is quite tenuous, but I would love to know if there is anyone else interested in "our" family history.
Phoebe's mother Maria Brown was my 3 x great grandmother's sister, Ann Shoesmith nee Brown.
In the 1901 census Phoebe and Nathaniel are living in the parish of Eccles with their three sons: Joseph born 1893, George born 1896 & Thomas born 1898.
Ann Shoesmith had seven sisters and her son took the name of Brown from his mother's side and inherited his grandfather Thomas Brown's farm etc at North Elmsall/Wrangbrook in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
The other sisters of Ann and Maria were:- Hannah Davenport, Elizabeth Mary Nicholson then Leach, Sarah Brown (married her cousin William), Ellen Witty, Eliza Brown, Maria Noden (married Joseph Noden) and Emma Stansfield.
Any information would be most welcome.
