Lena Nogar does not paint anymore but yes she is alive. I am her friend in Maryland Pictures can be found in galleries and in art/ antique stores some. I am unsure if she has a catalouge of these pictures they did together. They are top quality and she was a major part of this successful business.

Hello
I would very much like to have history on your grandfather. I have not and will not sell these pictures but my great aunt who owned them bought only high quality art work. As I truly enjoy looking at these unusual paintings I would like to try to figure out when and where they were created.
As a people person to know whatever you could tell me about his career would be interesting and I would keep it private.
My great aunt was Nelly Kisselburgh-Levi. She was a bit of a rebel who ran away to NYC and was discovered by Al Jolson.
She performed onstage and danced with the Zigfield Follies.
When she finally married she travelled the world. I am curious as to where she would have met your grandfather. She lived in Miami for many years as well as NYC. Did your grandfather have a studio or dealer in these places.
If you don't want to chat I understand. I am just curious.

Nogars: PA, NY, Canada

I am the great-grandaughter of Ruby Nogar who married Harry Vern Milliron. I have this information:

Isaac Nogar b. 1766, Pittsfield, Berkshire, MA. married Patience Perry 9 Dec 1802 in NY, living in Pittsfield, MA at 1800 census. Died 29 Jan 1851, at the almshouse in Pittsfield, MA.

John Nogar/Jean Mauger, son of Isaac and Patience. b 1797/99 in NY or MA, married abt 1821 to Olive Welch (her genealogy goes to one of the founding families of Rhode Island, I think). John/Jean d. 19 Feb 1865 in NY.

John H. Nogar, birth date unknown, son of John/Jean and Olive. married abt 1854 in NY to Salinda/Selinda/Celind/Celinda, thought to be of French and French Canadian origins. John H. died 12 Feb 1901 in NY.

John S (or middle name Milton) Nogar, son of John H. and Salinda, b. Sep 1862 in Ontario, Canada. Married 8 Mar 1887 or 1876 in Ontario to Jemima Inch (born in London, England). John S/Milton died 22 Nov 1938 in McKean Co., PA.

Ruby Nogar, daughter of John S/Milton and Jemima, b. 30 Dec 1910, in PA, died 2 Jan 1990 in San Diego, California. She married Harry Vern Milliron. Their son, James Melvin, is my grandfather.

All of the McKean county newspapers are on-line and have an excellent search system. Jemima Inch Nogar and John S. Nogar's obituary's are on-line as well as a rather scandalous story of the attempted murder of Ruby and Harry's daughter-in-law by her husband, their son John.
http://smethport.newspaperarchive.com/DesktopDefault.aspx

I'm trying to find the origins of the family- where are we originally from? Any details about the family would be much appreciated. I think the Nogars who moved to Chenango, NY helped found the county.

Any pictures or details would be great!
Please e-mail me: jylshaffer@yahoo.com
Thank you, David Nogar, for posting information regarding the paintings of Edmond Nogar. A small painting on five plates of glass came into my posession recently marked V-3777 Bowie, MD. The adhesive and paper portions are in poor condition but the glass portions and label are perfect -- I had just never seen anything like this and I appreciate having more information about this artwork.

Kathy Bell
Wesley Chapel, FL

I have four Edmond J Nogar oil on glass 3-D paintings that are beautiful. They are all from "Nogar Creations" in Bowie, Maryland. I do not know the value but they are all in their original frames, which seem to have been made specially for each painting by Nogar Creations as well. If you have any further info on the paintings, I would appreciate a reply. Thank you.

I was bidding on a Nogar picture 3d because is done onlayers of glass I fell short by 5.00 on the bid I preset my bid and I just plan lost it went for $415.00 so you figure it out and to top it off the buyer was an antique dealer so if you have them don't just sell it without knowing the REAL value
