Hello American (and Haitian) cousins,
my name is Thierry Noisette, I live in France. I’m one of the (very few, Philippe from Charleston, SC, had much much more descendants than his brother Antoine) French Noisette. Here, there are as far as I know two different origins for Noisette name, another one (maybe about 200-300 people, apparently no connection with us) and my family, who’s very small, and even more compared to all you on the other side of the Atlantic :-)

I’m the elder of four boys, born in 1961 (the youngest was born in 1971), and we have two half-brothers (1988 and 1991). My father (1938) had seven sons (one died just a few hours after birth).

My brothers and I have 5 children (from 1989 to 2004, 3 boys and 2 girls) - my daughter (1999) is the only Noisette girl in my family for the whole 20th century, as the others are of the 19th or the 21st :-).

Our common tree starts as some of you know with Joseph Noisette, a French 18th century gardener, who had at least three sons: Antoine, my ancestor, who died in 1858 in Nantes, Louis-Claude, who died in 1849 without known children, and your ancestor Philippe (aka as Philippe Stanislas, his middle name), who was born in Paris in 1775 and died in Charleston in 1835.

As Antoine was my great-great-great-grand-father, Philippe “the American” was my great-great-great-great-uncle. And of course if you’re one of his numerous descendants, all of us are cousins :-)

I live in Paris and work as a freelance journalist (working as well on Internet and IT, travel & tourism, and various things). My wife and I just published a book about free software (a totally non technical one), “La bataille du logiciel libre” (“The battle of free software”): http://www.labatailledulogiciellibre.info/

I went some times in the US (NYC and California mainly), not yet to South Carolina, but I expect to visit the birth place of the American part of the Noisettes, Charleston, and to have occasions to meet some of you anywhere in the USA. If you have occasions to go to Paris, please send me a mail some times before so that we can meet in real life. I can even show you some Noisettes roses in the Jardin des Plantes (big garden on left bank of Paris) :-)

Question to end: do some of you have started family tree of ALL Philippe’s descendants?
