Sylvia Jane Tyre
Sulvia Jane NOLAND Tyre, a resident of Jackson county, Minnesota, died at the home of her daughter at Bagley, Minn., at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 19, 1953 at the age of 83 years, seven months and 10 days.
Death was caused by a heart condition and although she had been ill for several years she died suddenly and unexpectedly.
Sylvia Jane NOLAND was born to Joseph and Martha NOLAND in Dallas county, Iowa. She lived with them in Iowa and two years at Beresford, S.D.
February 26, 1894, she was married to Christian Frederick Tyre in Jackson county. Their entire married life was spent on the same farm in Minnesota township.
Among survivors are two daughters, Inez, Mrs. Martin OLSEN of Lakefield, Minn.; Hazel, Mrs. E. A. OLSEN of Bagley, Minn.; and a foster son, Arthur NOLAND of Storm Lake. Grandchildren are Delmer and Quintis OLSEN; Norman, Donald, Raymond and Curtis OLSEN; Patricia and David NOLAND and four great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and one sister also survive. They are John NOLAND of Hayward, Minn.; C. L. NOLAND of Akely, Minn.; J. F. NOLAND of Tower, Minn.; F. A. NOLAND of Eartham; and Mrs. Hattie POMEROY, Olympia, Wash.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1950 and a son, Floyd in 1911.
She was a member of the Loon Lake Baptist church and was an active worker, both in church and Sunday school activities.
Her hobbies included crocheting and needlework and she kept scrapbooks which were turned over to hospitals.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Spirit Lake at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. Services were conducted by the Rev. V.V. White of Storm Lake and the Rev. V. Peterson of Spirit Lake.
Music was provided by Miss Phyllis Bordell, soloist, and Mrs. Reno Bordell, pianist. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.
Five grandsons, Norman, Donald, Raymond and Curtis OLSEN, and David NOLAND, and a nephew, Paul NOLAND, served as pallbearers.
