just read ur advert regarding Norbury's anywhere in the world. I am surprised to learn that there r so many Norbury's in the world. I grew up in Toronto, Canada. My father was one Arthur Norbury. His father, Jesse, immigrated from Manchester, England in 1910. He landed in Quebec and was headed for Sask. Thank God that he stayed in Toronto. Hope ur reunion went well. Say Hi to all the Norbury's that u know from the Norbury's in Canada. There are not that many of us left here. lol

WOW! That was quick. I believe grandpa's name was Jesse but at this late date I am not really sure. He passed while I was a child. Probably born in the mid-1800's. Imnmigrated to Canada in or around 1911. My father told me that he was only 2 when they came to Canada. Unfortunately, there are no living relatives except myself and my sister (Mary Margaret - or Peggy as we call her) and a few cousins with the late Uncle Jim being the father. Hope that this helps. Regards, Terry Sullivan (nee) Norbury.

My grandfather emmigrated to Toronot, Canada sometime around 1911. My father's name was Arthur Norbury, born in 1909. I also had an uncle James Norbury. Aunt's Gladys, Edie & Evelyn. Would love to hear from any NORBURY's in ur family. If interested, pse reply to terryslvn@rogers.com Thanks.

Do you have any idea when he was born and died? The generation I know about is earlier than your grandfather.
He must be at least 20 years older than your father or mother--when were they born?
He didn't have a middle name, did he? I have just got a list of 41 men of that name born in Lancashire. Not an impossible number, but some extra information would help.

June

If you've been speaking to Kaye (Christian) then we are distantly related to the Norbury's of Swettenham / Lower Withington. I'm still struggling to get back beyond 1639, but we're definately related somewhere along the line.

John Norbury of Kermingham, baptised at Swettenham on April 12th 1874 to Thomas & Ellen. Is he yours? If he is, your line is on the extreme fringes of my tree already.

Micknorbury
She had obtained Darrah/Grainger photos from 1890/1900 in an ebay sale. She sent me the Darrah photos but she also apparently has photos from the Emma A Norbury/Harry Bates Grainger family. Harry Bates Grainger is the brother of a Maud Grainger who married Charles Darrah in Heaton Norris UK. She wants to return the photos to a family member. Send me an email, and I'll send you her email.

In dire need of help or ideas please. 2nd Great Grandfather Joseph R. Norbury was confirmed into 4th Reformed Church of Manayunk in 1835 at age of 18. Occupation at this time was shoemaker. I can find no record of him prior to this time except that I do know he was born in 1817 in Philadelphia. I have no idea what church or religion he belonged to prior to 1835. Also, I found a Jacob Norbury on 1820 city directory listed as a shoemaker who may be his father but again no further info on him. What can I do to alliviate this brick wall? I checked church books at the Historical Society and drew a big blank. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if we've corresponded?

You mention Bradford Norbury born about 1802. What are his siblings names? I have Thomas born about 1812. He has a son called Thomas Bradford Norbury. It would make total sense that he would name his son after his brother in part. What do you think? It would be great if we could connect them as my Thomas has been elusive for many years. As he died at age 34yrs, it is difficult to find any information about his birth. On his marriage certificate he states he was a farmer, but later joined the police force and at his death was the first Police Inspector in Macclesfield.

After researching I found a few possiblities, but no way to connect.

Hope you can help
Kind regards
Denise Norbury

Annie NORBURYm Thomas SUTHERLAND ca 1884

Thomas Sutherland b ca 1843 in Glasgow was married to Annie E Norbury,(b ca 1848), in 1885. In 1891. they lived in Stretford nr Manchester. Annie was born in or near Manchester and so were their 3 children: Annie N Sutherland,b ca 1886. Marguerite E (Daisy) b ca 1887 and Thomas Douglas, b ca 1888. There was also John Alexander Sutherland, b 1878 in Co Durham, a son from Thomas' first marriage. I'm looking for the parents of Annie Norbury, and want to find out what happened to the children. I have Barton upon Irwell, Old Trafford, and Stretford as places where they lived from the 1880's on. I know that John Sutherland went to South Africa or Kenya.

I haven't yet researched the Norbury family at all and I was hoping for a short-cut to more information on Sarah's husband Charles Longden. On the other hand you may be right about Sarah and John being related, so I'll have a look at censuses and let you know.
I'm in the UK and whilst I have some contacts in Australia they don't cover this branch of the family and therefore the Norburys. If this leads anywhere I may be grateful for your help.
Whilst we establish whether we have anything to work on by all means email me at alan11.freeuk.com.

Alan

Charles died in Australia in 1938.

I would like to make contact with anyone who also knows of either of this couple.
