My great grandfather was Jackson Longstreet Norris brother to Hiram Benton Norris. I've heard the same thing about the Norris boys. Have you located Nelson's parents? I finally found them after MUCH searching!!! From what I've read in the documentes, I guess being MEAN was just a family trait. However, my grandfather, Elmer Benjamin Norris, was the exception --- he was very quiet, loving and sweet!!
