Russell J. Norris, 83, of Glouster, Ohio died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his residence.
He was born August 29, 1925, in Athens County, Ohio a son of the late William H. and Mae Belle Losey Norris.
He was a member of the Glouster Church of Christ, the United Mine Workers of America, and a lifelong member of the Glouster Masonic Lodge. He participated in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pamanset.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Jack Kasler of Glouster, Jennifer and David Dolan Jr. of Glouster, and Teresa and Scott Adams of Bluffton, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Cheryl Norris of Clemons, NC; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Paul Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ruby Kiser Norris; two sisters, Ruth Kloh and Kathleen Norris; a brother, William Norris; and an uncle, Charles.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bishopville, with Evang. John Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from noon until time of services.
