I have hit a brick wall with George Northam (b. 1764 c. -- d. 1820 c.) of North Carolina.

He was married to a Sarah Powell (b. 1766 c.) and was father of John M. Northam (b. 1802, d. 1898).

Does anyone have any information on the North Carolina Northams? They later moved to Alabama.

I`m trying to find anyone who is related to or knew the late Edward Reginald Northam b 1901, Devon. Parents William and Isabella (nee Billing(s) ). He had several brothers and sisters. including Frederick, Gilbert, Elias, Henry and Ellen. Married Elizabeth Hastie and had Mary b1932,George b 1935 and Heatherb 1940. He served in The Royal Medical Corps in India from 1938-1943. As a family they lived in Holway, Taunton and had relatives in Wellington Somerset. When returning from India Edward and his Family lived with his brother Jim, at Sampford moor.

T.P. Northam Mary Francis Hawkins

There is not very much known about the parents of T.P. or MARY FRANCIS
HAWKINS NORTHAM.
They stayed in Alabama and his father was killed during the CIVIL WAR. He
was home on leave but
some of his own people thought he had gone AWOL and one knight while he was
having supper
with his family, a group of his own people came and got him. He was found
later in the river wrapped
in a sheet.

T.P.'S mother was named NANCY JANE and lived to be 98 years old. She smoked
a corn-cob pipe.
When they came to Texas, neither of them could read or write, but when
their children started school
she learned to print and kept in touch with their folks occasionally.
She was a tiny person and never weighed 100 lbs. in her life, and she used
a crutch the last 40
years of her life.
He died in June of 1933. She and CAFFIE lived with B.E. NORTHAM until
CAFFIE died in Dec. 1935
MA NORTHAM DIED JAN 4, 1940. MA NORTHAM was BAPTIZED in a cane bottom
chair.

Born : 1-11-1893
Died: 3-7-1959

Married: Jan. 19, 1913

The wedding was performed while they were sitting in a buggy in front of
Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Jackson's
home 5 miles South of Chillicothe TX. The preacher was having Sunday dinner
with the Jackson family
and they drove there horse and buggy down there. He came out and performed
the wedding.

The 1891 census shows him living with wife Mary Ann b. 1857 Bisley and two children Marion A b. 1881 and Charles A b. 1882. By the 1901 census he is living with new wife Mary Arthur in Bodmin Cornwall without his children.

My ggggg-grandfather, Charles DAVIS (a "mariner") of Bristol, RI, married Mary (Polly) NORTHAM in Newport, in 1774. Mary was born in Newport in 1756.

Do you know the "ancestry" of Mary's father & mother, "Captain" John (b. 1728, Newport), and Sarah NORTHAM (b.1742, Newport)?

Do you know Mary's and Charles' (DAVIS) death dates and death places?

I have found numerous NORTHAMS in "Connecticut", but scarce mention of any "Rhode Island" NORTHAMS in the 1700's.

I came upon this Message Board while researching Northams in Devon, UK. The children of John Cartwright Northam (a carpenter by trade) and Jane (née Whitton), one of whom is my great grandmother (Emma) were all born In Halberton, Devon apart Fred who was born in 1874 in "USA". The whole family was in Devon again in 1881, if they ever left, but I am unable to trace a birth certificate or any other information about Fred's early years and wonder whether he really was born in the USA. It seems unlikely that a very ordinary working class family would have gone to the States (after 1869), bred Fred, then returned to Devon before 1881. Can anyone shed any possible light, please?
