George W. Northcutt and his wife Ellie Mae (Bonner) Northcutt of TX

I looking for more information for my children on the Northcutts of Jacksonville TX & Cherokee County. They are decendents of Mary B. Northcutt (Grandchildren). Below is all the information I have. I cannot find anyone beyond George W. Northcutt and his wife Ellie Mae (Bonner) Northcutt.

George W. NORTHCUTT born 1891 - died 1955(Unknown his parents) and Ellie Mae BONNER (Unknown her parents) were married. Ellie Mae BONNER born about 1896 died about 1958 both buried at Mixon Cemetery ,Cherokee County, Texas. George W. NORTHCUTT and Ellie Mae BONNER had the following children:

I. Earl D. NORTHCUTT and Dorothy L. were married on 18 Mar 1937. Earl born on Aug 19, 1913, and died on Jan 23, 1925 Dorothy L. was born on 21 Oct 1918 died on 15 Apr 1990 in Troup, Smith, TX. Both are buried in Mixon Cemetery Cherokee County, Texas. Unknown children.

II. Mary B NORTHCUTT was born on 3 Sep 1921 in Jacksonville, TX. She died Cardiac Arrhythmia on 25 Aug 1991 in Shreveport LA. Married to Billy Lindon Freeman, died on May 4, 1994. They had three children, Georgia, Billy and John Anderson. (Billy is the father of my two children)

III. Roy Olon NORTHCUTT1 was born on 12 May 1930 in CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas. Unknown any further info.

I am looking for information on a branch of the Northcutt's from TN, specifically around McMinnville. The farthest I have been able to get back is to William Jackson Northcutt DOD around 1932-33. His son was John Anderson Northcutt DOB 1880 DOD 1944 and John's one of John's children was John Herbert Northcutt, my great grandfather who relocated to New Orleans, LA where most of my immediate family lives now. I know that John also had a daughter named Callie and another son named Austin Leland for whom there is an ALNORTHCUTT road in or around Mcminville now.John also had many other children but i have no info on them. We believe that William Jackson had 2 brothers and may be associated with the Northcutt Plantation in TN. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of info for the family of Adrian Northcutt and also Gideon and James W. Northcutt but cannot seem to find the link to my branch. Thanks- Janet

I am of African descent. These two gentlemen are my great uncles. They were born in Viola, Tennessee, both disappeared in the mid 1900's and have not been seen or heard from since. Either could have changed their names and would be well into their 90's or older if still living. We have no idea if they married or had children. Uncle Rossie was last reported, in 1948, to be somewhere In Florida. There were reports that Uncle RD lived for a time in Shelbyville, Tennessee but he was never found. Also on the Haddock web page I am adding early newspaper items from Barry County. Those include 1890 through 1921 and I am presently typing 1915, so I have about six more years to type.

Jail Escape 1933 / Pratt NORTHCUTT

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me find the correct places to look or persons to contact. I am trying to find out information about a jail escape from the Shelby County Jail on September 18, 1933. One of the men who escaped was my husband's Grandfather (Pratt Northcutt) whom he had never known. He spent most of his adult life in prison and even died in prison in 1960.
This is what I did find:
Columbiana, Alabama..... Sept. 18, 1933.
A young woman picked up 3 of 10 convicts escaping from the Shelby County Jail. They eluded police in her car. Sheriff KNOX WOOLEY learned that she waited in the shadows of the jail wall for the break. It is believed that the woman smuggled a pass key into the jail Sunday during a visit. 2 of the convicts were PRATT NORTHCUTT and ERNEST POWELL, long term residents at Kilby Prison. They were brought to testify in the circuit court that week.
I am mostly wanting to find out if the woman was ever identified and when and where they were found by the police. My husband's Mother never knew her Mother and very little about her Father (Pratt Northcutt) and we think that maybe the woman who helped in the escape was her Mother. My Mother-in-law was born in 1934, so we believe that this was her Mother and she bacame pregnant while Pratt was on the run from the Police.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just do not know where to look.

Jennings (Jenks?) Northcutt family - Kingman Cty, KS

Am looking for descendents of the J. W. Northcutt family. MY family thought his name was Jenks ( a nickname?), but I believe it could be Jennings. I have seen that the NOrthcutt ancestry has been well researched from sites on Rootsweb.
However, my main interest is in the wife's family line and the descendents of this line. Her name was Hettie Steele, born 1870. She was a sister to my great grandfather, John Isaac Steele (born 1878). The Steele family resided in Mississippi until the 1870's, and then they moved to MIssouri - probably Newton County, MO. - year unknown. John was born in MO. Nothing further is known of their parents.

In the 1910 census(of Kingman County, KS) I have located
Hettie Steele Northcutt, it lists husband:
J. W Northcutt age 42 - born in TX, father from KY, mother VA.
wife Hettie, age 35 - born in MS, father from GA, mother AL
and their children:
Steele Northcutt, age 7, born in KS
Darius NOrthcutt, age 5 born in KS
Fern Northcutt, age 3, born in KS
I have been not yet been able to track down more information about their children and present descendents. I am trying to collect information about my great grandfather's sisters and would like tosee if there are other family lines that know more about the STeele family while they lived in MIssouri. Also I know nothing about Hettie's and John's mother.

"Mrs. James N. Northcutt (nee Miss Sarah Tom Morris), 77, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. B.Northcutt Friday following an illness of several months duration.
Mrs. Northcutt, who was Miss Sarah Tom Morris, was born in Monroe County, near Burnt Corn, and made her home in that county until 1901 when she moved to Conecuh. She was married in 1859 to James Nelson Northcutt, and last December 12th, they celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. To this union were born ten children, Mrs. Northcutt's death being the first to occur in this family during these sixty years. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church. She was beloved by all who knew her and her death brought sorrow to many.
Funeral services were held at Mrs. W. B. Northcutt's residence at 9:30 Sunday. Rev. W.F. Cann conducted the services assisted by Rev. Gerald King of Burnt Corn. Interment was made at Chappell Church, Rutland in charge. Five grandsons and a grandson-in-law were pall bearers; Enoch, Jr., and Chas. Northcutt, Henry Golson, Albert Lee Golson, Chas., and Clifford Feagin.

He was born 2 Feb 1868 in Granbury, Hood Co., TX and died 4 Oct 1937 in Cement, Caddo Co., OK. They had one son who survived, William B. Northcutt born 21 Dec 1888. He married a woman named Pat. When his father died he returned from selling shoes on the road to help Josie run the dry goods store. Winston was a well respected member of Cement society and was called "Dad" by his friends and associates. I am looking for Josie's death date and place. Can anyone help me. Last I heard she was still in Cement, OK in 1938.

I am just starting this particular surname search. It seems I skipped a generation in my Chappell search. I was just told my Wm Chappell was the son of James Chappell b 1781 - 1846 and Rebecca Northcutt. they married 9 March 1801 in Lincoln Co KY. some brief searches gave me a tenative line of Rebecca might be the d/o Richard Northcutt and Patsey (Sims?) with Richard being the possible son of William b 1735 Stafford Co VA - 1820 Casey Co Ky. This William looks to be the possible son of John b 1709 Hanover Co VA - d 16 Aug 1781 Powhattan Co VA. web submissions have his wife as Sarah but one researcher says his will says his wife was HANNAH with no children other than his nephew mentioned. I found that this John might be the son of the immigrant, Richard b before 1683 England - 1723 VA md Dinah (*unknown). Other than the marriage date of Rebecca and James Chappel (9 March 1801) all of this is unproven, as far as I know. I just fished it off the internet from various sites.
