William H. Northrup born Ohio 1826?

I am attempting to find the parents of William H. Northrup. He was born in Ohio in 1826 and died in Peoria County, Illinois in 1912. His daughter, Mary Jane also called Minnie, married Joseph Umholtz in 1894. Their son, Clinton Umholtz, was my gradnfather. Family lore indicates that Mary Jane (Minnie) had Native American heritage. I would appreciate any information that you may have.
Thank you,
Kathy

I have gathered information on my family line from when they had immigrated to the States but need more information going farther back now.
My line starts with Joseph Northrup married to Mary Norton. He came over to Connecticut on the "Hector & Martha" in 1637/9. I believe that they originated in the Yorkshire area of England. Does anyone have any further information on this line?
email me at teamhair at charter dot net

Hello, I have information for Layton and Isabel, children of Arthur Northrup who was the son of Norman, brother of Hattie.

Layton was born on Apr 8, 1899 and died May 13 1993 in Rochester, NY. He married Ida Elizabeth Koeberle on Jun 23, 1925. They had two sons: Norman Koeberle Northrup (May 12 1926) and Karl Arthur Northrup (Sept 1 1929). Layton was my grandfather. I am the youngest daughter of Norman K. I have more on Layton if interested (he was a wonderful, sweet man).

Great-Aunt Isabel Northrup-Lebo (note correction in married name) died in 1986 in Connecticut. She was brought there by her sone, Ron, when her health beganto fail. Before then, and after she divorsed Irvin (he was a womanizer), she lived and worked near Coral Gables, Florida. Isabel was a nurse and her last assignment was to care for an elderly man who left her his house in Florida. She is buried at Northrup Hill Cemetary in Rathbone, down the road from the Northrup Hill School. He grave is not marked due to her son, Ron, passing shortly after and his survivors did not followup and order one. My family is looking into obtaining one for her.

I can provide information on my Dad (Norman K.) and my Uncle Karl. They are both in their 80s now.

Lisa K.
Hi Julia,

Thank you for posting this. I have seen that entry in the "Northrup - Northrop Genealogy" on Google books previously. I should have mentioned that. Unfortunately, because the name provided on Myra (Northrup) Nichols' death certificate could never be mistaken for "Tucker" (unless it is the WORST handwriting ever seen), I discounted the name "Tucker" and assumed it was an error on the part of the good Rev.

Nevertheless, it very well may be "Tucker", as nothing else is sticking! I should have mentioned that when I posted but I had written that reference off a couple of years ago.

Everything regarding that entry is correct though. Edward J Nichols was Myra's husband and they only had two children (both listed in that entry).

Hi Richard,

I think you and I have corresponded in the past. Do you have "proof-positive" that Margaret's last name was Tucker? Do you have proof of who her parents were? The only official reference to Margart's last name (that I've seen) is Myra's death certificate (and as I said in my original post, even that is not clear).

Thanks for responding!

I don't have any other info going back as of yet but hope to gather more info over time.

Ann died around 1814 but no info on what she died of. Her last child was born in 1813 so I am wondering if she died from childbirth complications. Nathan remarried in 1818 to Juda Austin and had six more children.

Binghamton should have a death certificate for Lynn Northrup. That should give you his parents. Then find the certificate for his father where he died. Check Binghamton Historians Office for any other such as burial records and their marriage records etc. That should get you back to around the late 1800's. Good luck

Gideon Northrop, born 1752/1753 in Amity, Ct, the Rev War soldier, was son of Gideon Northrop and Esther Munson. The line is: Joseph, the immigrant; Samuel b 1651; Samuel b 1687; Gideon b 1718-1727; Gideon b 1752/1753. The 1908 Northrop book did not have this information. Gideon Northrop and Esther Munson had Elizabeth, David, Gideon, Easther, Daniel, Jedidiah called Diah in 1908 book, Joseph who married Cynthia Blakeslee, and Sarah who married Enos Blakeslee. This clears up several "unconnected" lines in the back of the 1908 book. The Gideon Northrop born 1718-1727 had an estate in 1802 that makes this clear.

Mary Northrup George Heald possibly NY son Joseph Henry NY early 1800's

Hi. I recently got a certificate for my GGGrandfather Joseph Henry Heald, who lived in Brooklyn, NY . Born 1842 NY, Died 1882 NY. He was a painter. He lists his mother as Mary Northrup and father as George Heald. I estimate they were both born about 1800 +/- . The only George and Mary I have been able to find were located in Maine, but the person who has that tree has not responded to me. Does anyone have any Northrup information that may include these 2 people? The son, Joseph Henry Heald married a Margaretta Johnson (Foster--1st marriage I think) and they had at least 2 children...Josephine Dawson Heald, and Mary E or Margaretta Heald. All lived in NY, however I only know George and Mary were born in the USA...I do not know what state, but likely in the northeast area. Any info/help anyone can give me is sincerely appreciated. I have lots of info on the family after 1842, but no info On Joseph's parents other than their names. Thank you

Joyce

Searching for Amie Elliott, born 1901, New Brunswick Canada

Searching for anyone with Amie/Annie/Mamie Elliott in their tree, or anyone with knowledge of her. She was the only child of my GGrandUncle, George Elliott (abt 1864-1909) from Saint John and Mary Northrup, (1861-1916) of Queens Co. I can't find a birth record for Amie, but she is listed with her mother in Lancaster Parish, Saint John, in the 1911 census. Would appreciate any information.

Marilyn in Vancouver

Valerie,
There were Doolittles living in Salem, NY, at the same time the Northrups lived there. Hezekiah Doolittle married Anne Chapman in 1765. Hezekiah then disappears from the records, although I have found the rest of his family. I suspect that Anna Doolittle was his widow when she married Abraham Northrup. It's a decent supposition, but I have no proof. Thought you might be interested. Best, Ann

Northrup, Flora from Scottland 1894

Notice found in old paper.
"DEAD IN THE SNOW...The Body of One-time Prominent Woman Picked Up by Police...New York, Dec 31, 1894 - A sad story was brought to light this morning in the finding by a policeman of a woman's body hidden behind a pile of lumber and partly covered with snow. Later in the day the dead woman was identified as Mrs Flora Northrup, a native of Scotland, sixty-eight years old. She was at one time a principal of the Royal School for Officer's Daughters at Castletion, Isle of Man, England.
About eight years ago, she came to this country and taught music in New York and other cities, but became addicted to the use of liquor and quickly went from bad to worse. It is supposed the woman cast herself down behind the lumber pile and went to sleep during the snow-storm."

Please do not contact me, I have no other information.
