Hello everyone.

I just wanted to remind you all of the Y DNA Project that is trying to sort out the different Norwood families worldwide.

I am writing especially because the project has been growing and some family lines are beginning to emerge from the results. It is exciting because the families in question have good traditional genealogical research to show their descent from their earliest known ancestor.

Three descendants of Theophilus Norwood of North Carolina have nearly identical haplotypes and two descendants of Richard Norwood of England and Bermuda also match very closely. This latter match helped confirm a researcher's work of many years. Other participants have unique haplotypes not yet matching anyone else, but with more participation, it is hoped that they too will match others in their lines.

If you need to know which Norwoods you belong to or just have an interest in genetic genealogy, please consider participating. We really need descendants of George Norwood, son of William of Leckhampton Court and Virginia. Participants descending from Francis Norwood of Massachusetts and John Norwood of Maryland are badly needed--as well as any other Norwoods from any family. I'd like to extend a special call to all Norwoods in the British Isles to consider participating. This could really help us locate the families of emigrants in the mother country.
